    You think when ESPN pegged this matchup at the start of the year, they thought it would be anything like Walrond/Weaver? I predict Ronny Cedeno hits a GW grand slam in the top of the 10th to give the Cubs an 8-4 lead.

    He has been horrible at 3B for the Padres. I wonder what his excuse is for that? he's not great defensively? I don't know what excuse there is to make. I don't remember him making excuses for his defense, actually, though I could be mistaken. And his line is 320/433/500. Pretty impressive. His home/away splits aren't really drastic either. He's actually had a better avg/obp at home. His power dips though.

    I think he's finally making whatever adjustment he needed to make and is at least going to start resembling his minor league self a little bit. Will he post a 1.8 ERA? No, but he should be an effective middle of the rotation starter for a while, assuming health.

    Lots of people have jobs they don't deserve. The above is not a good argument. Allright then, are you saying Wilken isn't qualified/deserves this position? If so, I'd love to hear your reasoning. That's not what he was saying. He's saying people have jobs they don't deserve and that what you used was a fruitless argument.

    Jeff Weaver is arguably one of the worst starters in the entire majors right now. Jeff Weaver will also eat up innings, win 12-14 games a year, and have a era around 4. Weaver has an ERA around 6 this year. What proof is there that he'll rebound?

    They could have Ronnie Cedeno starting for them. :x This year Cedeno proved all of those that said "someone from the farm system" couldn't do any worse wrong. Neifi wasn't much better than Cedeno. And Cedeno is young and could have adjusted from the beginning of the year. There was no reason not to start him, and there still isn't since it's a lost season.

    I doubt it. Alou hasn't been near as succesful recently as Baker was right before being hired by the Cubs.

    Murton -- has the potential to be a good -- or at least serviceable in a good lineup -- LF. Should be given the nod in LF if we get Soriano Cedeno -- sucks, get Soriano and trade him for whatever you can get. Either that or make him super-util Hill -- I like Hill. He needs to put it together though. 4th starter next year if we get a pitcher like Zito or Schimdt Guzman -- I like Guzman. Could be 5th starter next year if he's healthy Marmol -- Needs to get control. Needs some AAA-experience next year Mateo -- Meh, mid-relief/swing man at best. O'Malley -- Same as above. I think he compares to Koronka. Pagan -- 4th OF at best. Power this year has been a fluke, IMO Marshall -- I like him, but I think he needs some minor-league seasoning still.

    you wouldn't have spent that extra year in college. Anyways, he sort of has a half point. I mean, it's a dumb, convoluted point that's cluttered with nonsense, but we do have a severe lack of power.

    I know lineup order doesn't matter and all that fun stuff, but Soriano should never, ever lead off. Absolutely kills whatever production he adds as a power source. I'd much rather him hit solo shots from the 5 spot in the order.
