  1. Really? I must have missed that. Sounds like a bad trade to me. Well. I think it has at least. Not 100% sure, but that's about what I remember hearing. I know I heard that package for someone.
  2. Ervin Santana and "others" for Wells has been discussed for some time.
  3. Coke & Diet Coke. Usually regular sodas are too sweet for my tastes though.
  4. chocolate cream pie followed by boston cream. Banana cream is great too.
  5. it does when you have howry, wuertz & wood. Expound on the logic of your statement, please. Rapada coming in doesn't squeeze a setup guy out. He doesn't push Ohman into a new role. Ohman just gets the boot. Have you checked out these guys' splits? They suck against righties. That's why they're LOOGYs. If Rapada is ready, which it appears he is, it makes Eyre expendable because you already have 3/4 guys in the pen outside of Eyre, and it's pretty much between Eyre and Ohman. Ohman is cheaper, so you go with him. Rapada doesn't necessarily squeeze out Eyre, Wood does. I wouldn't make the move right away though. If Wood shows he can handle the rigours of pitching an inning every other night, then you trade him. The question is do you trade him before he lets his own value drop or perhaps rise.
  6. worst post in this thread! Do you want him to start at 2B next year?
  7. Wow, Hanley had a much better year than I thought. Could it be...did the voters pick the right guys?
  8. Welcome to ****tyfield, may i preeze take yo' o'dah?
  9. Considering Drew just backed out of 11M a year, I have a feeling he's looking for something along the lines of 13M a year. In that case, he and Nomar will cost more than the Cubs were willing to pay Aramis, which was a piddly 14.6M a year, from what the Trib is reporting. Yeah, but that's filling two spots. It's not ideal, but it's not horrible either. A massive upgrade in center would be nice. The stepdown from Ramirez to Garciaparra isn't as big -- assuming that Nomar isn't going to replicate his second half -- as the step up from Pierre to Drew is, if Drew is healthy. I don't know if it's a great idea to sign two huge injury risks like that, though. Then again, I don't think it's a good idea...or even a bad idea...it's an atrocious idea to not get Ramirez locked up.
  10. I wouldn't be 100% opposed to trading Lee. I'm definitely 100% opposed to trading Z!
  11. I think it goes. Guy 1: "Well i'm voting for yours truly!" Guy 2: "Well, I'm voting for yours truly too!" Guy 3: "Well...I'm with you fellers." The Coen Brothers are awesome.
  12. The wheels fell off of Holdzkom's wagon, eh? Patterson is tearing it up, which is good. Part of me wants him to succeed and do very well. The other part wants him to slouch a little bit so Hendry doesn't think he has a 2B already on the team; I doubt EPatt is ready...
  13. i don't think he's going to provide that big of a boost, personally. While that is a convinving argument, I look at the fact that he had a 906 OPS in April last year (before he got hurt), 891 OPS the year before, and 927 OPS the year before that. Yes but HGH-aided Bonds aside, players generally tend to decline after their early to mid-30's. I think it's possible Sheffield supplements, thus the non-decline so far in his 30's. But he has declined the last few years. It went sort of unnoticed because he was still a productive player. Still. He's 38 next year, he's coming off of wrist surgery -- which I can't imagine is going to be great for his swing -- and he's going to a pitcher's park. I don't think he's going to be that productive.
  14. i don't think he's going to provide that big of a boost, personally.
  15. The Tigers got absolutely hosed in that deal.
  16. I dunno. I don't want Schmidt or Zito at all, and I want Mats. It wouldn't matter when it was for me. Mats Zito Schmidt
  17. I shall always remember his voodoo he performed on the team's bats a few years back prior to a 8 (?) game win streak. Actually, I believe it was a 12 game winning streak that followed an 8 game losing streak. I thought it was a 10 gamer...but whatever. I remember how it ended, and that sucks. Jeromy Burnitz hit a towering flyball to right, Sammy leapt at the wall and it just went over his glove for a HR. Ugh. If I'm not mistaken, that is. Well, you have it a little turned around. It was a 12 gamer, and it was Sammy who hit a high fly into the corner in right for the potential game tying homerun, and in the corner Burnitz jumped up and robbed him to end the game. Ah, that's right. I was thinking it was a righty who hit the flyball, but I couldn't place who because I was thinking walk off. The only two guys I could think of were Jenkins and Burnitz, and I remember Burnitz being in one the play. Thank you for the correction.
  18. I thought he hurt his shoulder in the WBC? I can't remember.

  20. not to nitpick...but coaches vote for it. so yes, I was nitpicking. sorry.
  21. I haven't seen any trends that suggest any of what the above poster suggested with the new ownership and management.
  22. I'd certainly consider Marshall + Novoa + a Mateo type for him. If they only want Marshall and Novoa it's a no-brainer though.
  23. I'd do the deal if he's interested in posting a full, healthy year with the line he put up this year (302/339/533)
  24. I doubt it. It was partially torn. He definitely should keep pitching with that (this is where the rolleyes would go).
