Panthers fire Matt Rhule. Inevitable. I loved the hire and have no problem with the guy but he just sucks at this level.

    NFL Week 5

It's been illegal to touch Tom Brady for like a decade now, but that took it to an absurd level. Literally nothing else the Falcons guy could've done.

  4. St. Louis parlayed completely ludicrous pixie dust seasons (even by their standards) from Goldschmidt, Arenado, Wainwright and Pujols into zero playoff wins. There is some good in the world.
  5. Regardless, what the horsefeathers was that play call and pass? Just awful with the game on the line Jimbo Fisher is a befuddling coach, even inside the same game. Great job pushing Bama all the way to the end, and then pretty much all he has to offer on the final drive is the QB tossing up prayers into double coverage. Failing to throw the ball into the end zone with 3 seconds on the clock is just ridiculous.
  6. Only with St. Louis though. His ERA was 3.50 with Pittsburgh and 2.01 with St. Louis. FIP was 3.23/2.60.
  7. I know I won't get what I want but Guardians vs Mets would be fun. But I'm bracing for St. Louis vs Houston.
  8. I wasn't editorializing, but that's obviously why it's getting so much attention and that's how a lot of voters will view it. I haven’t really gotten that vibe at all. It’s been much more AL/Yankee record being brought up from what I have heard (and I agree with). It’s cool and historic in that right but only meatballs are saying “TRUE HR KING”. I have been pleasantly surprised to have not heard much on that front. It's been quiet, I agree, but I think/suspect that if any of the guys ahead of Judge on the single-season charts were judged to be clean that we wouldn't have seen the level of coverage we did about the feat.
  9. I would be incredibly surprised if they sign him. Between what he's likely to get paid, the Arrenado and Goldschmidt contracts and the fiery personality, just doesn't seem like a great fit. And much like the McGwire replacement was always going to have enormous pressure to perform, just not being Molina will be enough of a knock against the next guy that it's probably not a great investment overall for them next year. On the other hand, Contreras has been more valuable this season than Molina has been in the last four seasons combined, so any sort of competency back there might be received well in a pleasantly surprised way. The only reason Contreras being there might be tolerable is seeing a certain segment of STL fans have to grapple with seeing how much better he is (and has been for a long time) than future Hall of Longevity inductee Molina. But yeah, no.
  10. I don't think the home thing is figurative, I'm pretty sure he said in his presser that he will keep his home in Chicago. Domestic abusers aside, I'll never take a shot at someone who was on the 2016 team. It's not his fault the Cubs paid him all that money and (probably) broke his batting form trying to unlock more power.
  11. Immediately thought of this tweet. [tweet] [/tweet]My favorite thing today was looking at the week after this one's games and seeing ranked Kansas at unranked Oklahoma.
  12. Not just the Triple Crown, but the non-steroid (as far as we know) home run record too. theres no such thingI wasn't editorializing, but that's obviously why it's getting so much attention and that's how a lot of voters will view it.

  14. The only reason I knew that was because he played in the two Cubs/Marlins games I went to. It will not surprise you to learn he was completely hopeless at the plate each time he batted.
  15. Rough year to put up those numbers when someone else is chasing the Triple Crown Not just the Triple Crown, but the non-steroid (as far as we know) home run record too.
  16. A few games bounced around because of Hurricane Ian. SC State @ S Carolina now Thursday night, E Washington @ Florida now Sunday afternoon and E Carolina @ S Florida now at Florida Atlantic's field and kicking off at 2:30 instead of 7.
  17. I won a league last year and this year I've already dropped David Njoku after 2 weeks of essentially being ignored only to see him make 9 catches this week and benched Devonta Smith for the same reason only to see him go berserk today. Guess I used up my good fortune.

  19. Yeah, that was absolutely a killer. I’m seriously not trying to take anything away from the Aggies, but Arkansas should have won that game. Then there were those miraculous 3rd down conversions in the 4th quarter with Max Johnson throwing passes up for grabs off his back foot. I hate this game, every year, even when the Hogs win. ATM postgame win expectancy was 32 percent, FWIW, so you're not wrong. Basically any time a team wins a close game in which they had a 99-yard fumble return TD, that's an escape job.
  20. Good for him. He'd have passed Bonds by now if he'd never left St. Louis and no one will ever be able to tell me different.

    NFL Week 2

Meanwhile Carolina finds a way to lose another game. I was so fired up about Matt Rhule when he was hired but he is a bad NFL coach. Carolina is now an incomprehensible 1-25 under him when they allow 17 or more points. The owner ordering panic trades for any scrap-heap QB that comes available every year isn't helping.

    NFL Week 2

With full acknowledgment that Tom Brady is the undisputed laughable-if-you-even-argue-it GOAT, it's very frustrating that when he does suck, either his team's elite defense or ridiculous penalties on the opposing defense or both bail him out more often than not.

  24. In Snood-approved news, Kansas is smacking around Houston, which went 12-2 last season, on the road. They might seriously be good.
  25. The ND one nearly had a crazy finish. Two different Cal players had a chance to come down with their Hail Mary. I definitely did not need to be reminded. Bat it backwards, fellas!
