  1. I don't care if we can't get anything of value for Jones. If we can just get someone to pick him up, that's enough for me.
  2. +1 - 10 I love Steve Stone. I'm not a huge Stone fan, but he's a solid baseball analyst when he's not on a Cubs rant.
  3. He gets about 80 percent of the blame for Game 6 IMO, with Prior getting about 10, Alou getting about 5, the fans as a whole getting about 4, and Bartman perhaps 1. But, he hit three game-winning home runs in 2003. Without those dingers, the Cubs might not even make the playoffs (we won the division by 1 game).
  4. Cubs sweep this series then lose their next 7 afterwards.
  5. The Cubs have been on, as Wojo put it, some sort of double-secret probation with MLB's umpires for at least three years. Frankly it's pissing me off.
  6. Forgot to mention another favorite - Cubs fall behind early, crawl back slowly but surely, tie the game, and immediately give up 2 or 3 runs to lose.
  7. I don't understand why Dusty isn't unanimous. He destroyed Mark Prior, finished off Kerry Wood, and probably destroyed Carlos Zambrano (although he took longer).
  8. LaTroy Hawkins for me, and it's not even remotely close.
  9. The Cubs would look at playing Pie everyday as a concession of the season and would platoon him with the guy with better numbers vs LHP. I wouldn't, they do. Sorry for the confusion.
  10. Jones is a better RF than Murt and I don't think it's all that close. I'm sick of Jacque. Murton's not great but if I have to see Jacque make the same 5th-grade mistakes at bat and in the field anymore I'm going to put a brick through my TV.
  11. I'll take an 89-win disappointment over a 66-win atom bomb every time, which is why I've never understood the argument that Red Sox fans pre-2004 had somehow had it worse than we had.
  12. Call up Pie Trade Jones for anything Put Floyd on DL Platoon Pie and Pagan in CF (I'd prefer they just put Pie out there all the time, but I'm sure the Cubs aren't willing to concede the season) Murton in RF everyday This is probably the best-case scenario...not that we'd have a good OF, but it'd probably be the best it could be.
  13. Uh, what? All the innuendo I'd heard seemed to trace Sosa's boombox smashing to Kerry Wood.
  14. As soon as we all saw Will Ohman on the mound, who didnt think "Game Over." ? Anyone? I did. I saw a lefty on the mound from a distance with a man on 2nd and 2 outs and said "Surely Eyre's not in today???" I wasn't surprised that it turned out to be Ohman and that he gave up the run.
  15. Dusty v. Prior/Wood. I would like to see Dusty punished for destroying these guys' careers as well as the fortunes of the Cubs for the next 10 years like no other.
  16. 2006. It was like watching your kid play when you know he sucks - you had to hope for the best but you were waiting for the next ridiculous display of crappiness.
  17. 1. All of it as long as he is playing baseball. 2. The contract, I assume, would end if he goes back to football. Samardzija would also have to return his signing bonus.
  18. How about the Cubs deck someone on Atlanta this time around?
  19. Z, Barrett, Glenallen Hill, Farnsworth.
  20. That's the original broadcast with Harry calling the game, right? Costas called it, it was the NBC Game of the Week.
  21. The Chicago Cubs are the mockery of professional baseball right now. This is ridiculous. Just suspend Z for a start, give it to Gooz, let him come back and pitch for a couple of months (isolated from everybody Sammy-style) and ship his ass out of town to a contender at the deadline and try to get some value.
  22. Why in god's name would anyone want him to? True. But this is the 2nd time in 3 years he's been one of the few reasons to give a crap.
  23. And maybe we'll trade Z now since evidently leaving games early is an automatic trade in Chicago.
  24. Geez. I imagine Lee might not be as unwilling to waive that NTC.
