  1. How the hell are we in first?
  2. Why do you ask? it would seem like a pretty solid game wisconsin vs. wazzou, but I know the pac ten like i know Aramaic Oh, ok, I see what you're asking. Well, Wazzu will probably be fine, but Wisconsin's a very, very good team playing at home. I don't think the Cougs have much of a chance. hey andy, your ball st cardinals are playing my wisconsin-milwaukee panthers in basketball... i might have to make a trip to muncie. Yeah, that's what I hear. Georgetown, Butler, Illinois State and UW-Milwaukee all making trips to Muncie in out of conference play in one year is pretty ridiculous.
  3. She's not, that's probably a German girl at Oktoberfest or something. Cubs Girl a thousand times. She is utterly gorgeous.
  4. Well Buck O'Neil and Ernie Banks didn't hold up any signs, but they were very vocal that Lou could be a super star and that the Cubs "college of managers" were misusing him in a run producing role. Brock's OBP with the Cubs: .319 in 1962 .300 in 1963 .300 in 1964 until traded (215 AB) Stolen bases with the Cubs: 16/23 in 1962 (69.6) 24/36 in 1963 (66.7) 10/13 in 1964 until traded (215 AB) (76.9) No matter what role the Cubs were using him in, he was sucking at it. Flat-out terrible. Neifi-esque hitting and base-stealing rates (in 62 and 63) that statistically were hurting his team.
  5. Riot can be incredibly good at SS sometimes.
  6. And Riot is plenty good enough of a runner that we don't NEED to hit and run.
  7. Z is hilariously stupid-looking when he strikes out. It's worth the contract for the laughs he gives me alone.

  9. Picked off 2nd. Really dumb play by Ward.
  10. Cool down. I don't think many people here are praising Hendry's job as GM. I know I'm not. We're just saying this is a smart move.
  11. Oh yeah, and the maddening thing about Brock was he wasn't very good with us at all. Then he goes from us to the Cards, mid-season, and it wasn't like he waited for another year or two of development to kick in. Oh no, that would be too logical. Instead he starts tearing up for the Cards immediately, and really never looked back. Brock never hit over 100 OPS+ for us, ever. He didn't dip under 100 OPS+ for the Cards until 1977, well into his senior years as a pro. And he went from 77 to 146 midseason, magically, in his trade year. If there was ever an example of this, it's Brock. Good call. i just accepted that brock was this mega superstar in the making and we traded him away for a box of peanuts and a rubberband.. the truth when I actually looked at numbers and read more about it was that brock was a middling prospect who couldnt hit and couldnt field for us and we traded him straight up for a 20 game winner who just happened to hurt himself. Yeah, regardless of the Cardinals' true or perceived luck, the Lou Brock deal is quite possibly one of the all-time most unfairly labeled "lopsided" deals. Brock was complete crap with the Cubs and showed no sign of getting any better till he left.
  12. Yeah I think DeRo would've had that one cleanly. Not that I'm reccommending it, but: Ward in RF and Lee at 1B has to be worse than Ward at 1B with Lee at a corner OF spot. DLee's a great first baseman, but he's so much more athletic than Ward, soft hands, a strong arm and good fielding instincts. Knowing our luck, Lee would get injured. Besides I would wager it has been close to a decade since he last played any outfield with anyone.
  13. This is exactly what I was going to post. This is a very Jocketty-esque move of picking up a person who can be helpful when used correctly at the nadir of his trade value. I think it's a smart move and hopefully will pay off.
  14. Good hit. Let's get it rolling, DLee.
  15. I'm pumped about the Monroe deal. That has the potential to be another Kendall deal where we get the turnaround of a previously good player for nothing.
  16. Ryan put the Giants in the http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e67/ndistops/Dumpster.jpg
  17. Why do you ask?
  18. This is ridiculous. Floyd and Jones BOTH playing against a lefty and Murton on the bench.
  19. I'm with you, sir. College football is far and away my favorite sport. I get so pumped this time of year I can barely stand it. Do you pull for one of the teams? I can add it (and any succeeding game for whichever one you like) into the "other games" tab if you're a fan of one.
  20. You were one of the few. I'm pretty sure most here wanted Murton to play the outfield full-time (including me). I'd say it's a fair wager Murton would have been much better early in the season had he not been playing for his job every time he actually did play, which wasn't often. I expected Floyd to be better than he's been (the fact that he has a lower IsoP than Pierre last year is cause for his immediate dismissal), but I still thought it was a redundant/pointless signing.
  21. Eight days until Ball State begins its ascension to the MAC title :)
