  1. I really don't want to watch this anymore. But here I am.
  2. How the hell are we in the playoffs?
  3. I WANT CUBS PLAYOFF BASEBALL, LET'S GET READY TO DROP THE SOAP ON THESE COWBOYS
  4. No because we will clobber him in the World Series. :D 68 minutes!!
  5. This just in: Matt Holliday is the NL MVP.
  6. Unless I'm much mistaken it will be, ESPN Radio has carried all the playoff games for a while now. I can't guarantee something didn't change with the new media contract but I'd be surprised.
  7. I dreamt on Monday night that Lilly went ape on an ump in the last game of the reg. season, put him in a headlock, and got himself suspended for the entire playoffs. It took me a half hour after I woke up to make sure I hadn't actually seen that.
  8. I don't sleep during Cubs playoff games. It's physically impossible. I'm absolutely getting beat down with assignments and newspaper stories this week but I wouldn't miss one second of this.
  9. Where is that? I've seen some seedy places in the city - notably the good ol' Mark Twain hotel just down the street from my apt - but haven't heard about the hotel w/ wall-to-wall mirrors. It was the Lincoln Inn. I can't remember offhand what street it was on but it was across from a Walgreens and the street took you straight to Lake Shore.
  10. My dream the night before last was that Ted Lilly went absolutely ape soap dropper on an umpire in the last game of the season, put him in a headlock, and got himself suspended for the entire postseason. It probably took me a half hour to make sure in my head that this did not actually happen. 9 hours and 27 minutes. GO CUBS!
  11. I don't know how many times the Cubs have been on TBS when they played the Braves but they were definitely on once this season at least (the Z vs. Barrett fight game). The Soriano 3-HR game was also on TBS. T-minus 14 hours and 33 minutes.
  12. I saw him pinch-hit last night and told my friend I'd literally never heard of him in my life. He got a hit, though, so it was all good.
  13. I'm staying at a cheap motel not far from Wrigley. It's only costing me $65 a night. Of course, I think I'm going to bring my own sheets. At that price, I'm not sure what the bed will look like. What's the name of the hotel? Sheffield House. Dear god, I'm reading some reviews of that place online now. It's scaring me. As I said, I'm bringing my own sheets. My friends and I paid $52 a night at a hotel about 10-15 minutes from Lake Shore Drive when we went to Chicago in late July. Granted, it was a blatant cover-up for a prostitution ring (different rates for 10 hours or overnight, mirrors all over the room including the ceiling, etc.), but hell, for $52 a night that close to downtown, I don't care what it's covering up for as long as I don't have to be involved.
  14. I don't recall DeRosa ever being a goat. People didn't like the dollars he got, but we were much more concerned with the Blanco re-signing, the Marquis signing, the Lilly signing and the Soriano signing to be too worried about DeRosa. That said, if the Cubs somehow do this, DeRosa will be one of the people remembered most fondly from this team. Hell, he will be anyway.
  15. Is this a typo or am I missing something? I think we'll beat up on either team, but I'd be more concerned with Colorado is all.
  16. If the outfield next year is not Soriano/Pie/Murton (with an exception if Felix proves to be an offensive nonfactor, then I want a short-term fix not named Jacque there), I will hurt people. Let's put it that way.
  17. I think that, should we get past Arizona, we will clobber either one of these teams. I'd almost rather face Philly, since Colorado is full of those guys that piss us off by killing us.
  18. I can't, only because I've had a gigantic man-crush on DeRo since the 2nd week of April and little short of a walk-off, playoff-series-winning hit would make it any bigger.
  19. I have Comparative Politics 10-11 Critical Issues in the News 11-12 Public Policy 1-2 Film Genres 3-5 Tomorrow. Oh, and I have to write an 8-page paper tonight and a 3ish-page paper tomorrow plus a presentation between now and game time. If nothing else I will be busy.
  20. Yeah, well if the Diamondbacks would have lost all the games they won, they would have been 0-162. It would have been the worst season in sports history. EDIT: I think a better stat would be: If you took out all the Diamondbacks wins, they would have been 0-72...which is pitiful. If you take out all the innings this year that Brandon Webb didn't give up runs, he would've given up runs in every single inning he pitched. Sooo overrated.
  21. Out of curiosity, how many of those non-division second half games came while Soriano was hurt? 7 of those 25 games cited, in which the Cubs were 3-4.
