  1. Yes, stack them.
  2. We should've had Southpaw start. But I'm ok with saving him for the playoffs I guess. How the hell are we in first?
  3. I stopped watching with about 8 minutes left. It's not even that I was giving up. I just didn't want to watch anymore. But hey, at least we keep pulling Jimmy for Sharpley for no real reason at the end of games.
  4. You know, I was happy when Ball State almost beat Michigan last year. That was a game that we had no business winning. But this game pissed me off. We should have beaten Nebraska. How do you go up 37-28, with the ball, with like 10 minutes left, and throw a pick-six? HOW??? Nate Davis threw for 422 yards and 3 TDs and scored another on the ground, but I can't be happy with him. Dante Love had 214 yards receiving, but dropped what would have been the game-winning TD on the last drive. I can't be happy with him. I can't be happy with any of it. I suppose it's a positive sign for the program that I'm pissed after a 1-point loss to Nebraska in Lincoln. If this team had shown up against Miami and not thrown that pick-six, BSU would be 4-0 and on their way to the top 25 if they kept winning. The team is that close to breaking through. If they play like this, there's really no reason to not finish 10-2 - a team with an offense like ours should beat Illinois and IU on the road and shouldn't lose any MAC games. Uggh...I hate this. I've been here 4 years, and in that time we've come damn close to beating a big conference team 4 times (BC - 2004, IU - 2006, Mich - 2006, and Nebraska - 2007). This 'so close' feeling is too common.
  5. In last 8/9 games Cubs go: 0-8 Brewers to tie/win: 2-7/3-6 Cubs go: 1-7 Brewers to tie/win: 3-6/4-5 Cubs go: 2-6 Brewers to tie/win: 4-5/5-4 Cubs go: 3-5 Brewers to tie/win: 5-4/6-3 Cubs go: 4-4 Brewers to tie/win: 6-3/7-2 Cubs go: 5-3 Brewers to tie/win: 7-2/8-1 Cubs go: 6-2 Brewers to tie/win: 8-1/9-0 Cubs go: 7-1 Brewers to tie/win: 9-0/impossible Cubs go: 8-0 Brewers to tie/win: impossible
  6. Praying for a redux of this http://www.brendanloy.com/blog/images/spartans-defendthes.jpg
  7. I daresay some on here will try and procure extras, which you could secure for, say, 2 times the face value. :D
  8. The thing is, XZero just explained in excruciating detail why we haven't been any more or less lucky than any other decent Cubs team of the 21st century. Here's the list of every Cub I can think of who has performed better than I would've thought: Theriot Fontenot Ward Soto Marquis (to some extent) R. Hill (to some extent) Marshall Kendall Dempster Marmol And the thing is, of all of those, only the two relievers, Marquis, Hill and Theriot have gotten enough playing time, over the course of the whole season, to really have made a major statistical impact on the season. Whereas Zambrano, Jones, Soriano, Lee, Barrett, Floyd, and Eyre, to name a few, have been significantly below a) recent performance, b) career averages or c) both. In fact, as Cubs teams go, I think over the whole season, luck has had less of an impact on this one than any I remember following.
  9. 'I'm not a true fan, I'm just here for the chicken wings' was posted like two weeks after I registered here but is probably still one of the top 5 things I've ever read here.
  10. Kevin Hart should start that game.
  11. How the hell are we in first?
  12. Seriously, though, if the Brewers hadn't bent over for the NL in June and July and most of September, the Cubs are probably a good 7-10 games out right now. Take care of your own business, then you can whine.
  13. Note that the Cubs didn't give up more than 3 runs in any of those games. Probably the most important thing those games have in common. Hey Brewers, you don't want to lose the division? Don't go below .500 two straight months is a great way to start. And don't blow 13 three-run-plus leads to lose the game. No sympathy from here.
  14. I love the Cubs. And I love Aramis. We're dangerously close to that star.
  15. Cubs were up 0.5 games on the Giants and 2.5 games on the Astros with 8 games to play (and only 7 to play for the Astros). The Cubs were up 3 in the loss column at that point. Geez, Houston really had no business getting in at all
  16. 1B Ump wants to go home. Let's win this thing.
  17. Have the Cubs been up 2 games yet this year?
  18. He changed it later to just 'the best sports show period'
  19. If they made the LCS then he would, I believe he'll be the No. 1 guy. I doubt TBS gets LCS games too... FOX probably gets those right Lee! 3 hits for Derek TBS is doing the NLCS, Fox is doing the ALCS.
  20. How that ball didn't get out is complete ricockulousness
  21. If they made the LCS then he would, I believe he'll be the No. 1 guy.
  22. Way late but: ARAMIS and Geovany Flippin Soto
  23. Same one he's hurt before? Freaking jerk. I wish they were both broken. And I wish he also combined the worst of Griffey's and Barrett's nut problems, with a raccoon bite on them for good measure. Little Lord, I think you've signed in in someone else's account. Please sign into your own. No, he'd have wanted them both to contract brain tumors
  24. We've already been blown out Andy. And to think, just the other day I was proud that I was the only one keeping a semilevel head in the game thread - next game I'm the one that makes the dumbest comment. Moral of the story - quit speaking too soon.
