UConn lost to Providence! ND now just needs to beat USF to clinch the 3 seed in the Big East, which has the double positive of allowing us to get WV/Seton Hall instead of Marquette in the 2nd round of the Big East tourney as well as ensuring that I won't miss ND's 2nd round game (I'll be in Cleveland for the MAC tourney and had no chance of catching the 2:00 slot ND would've played in as the 4).

ND 68, St. John's 55. 37 straight at home, 18 Big East games straight at home. Harangody 20 and 6. One more sacrificial lamb (USF) before the conference tourney. Go UConn's opponents.

ND will become the first Big East team ever to go unbeaten at home two straight seasons tonight barring a total meltdown against St. John's. Also Rob Kurz Night for our only senior. Fun times.

BSU sent Peyton Stovall out the right way tonight with a 69-63 senior night win over NIU. A fitting end for Peyton, as he compiled his third double-double of the season (he'd never had a double digit rebound game until this season when we had no size). In one sequence towards the end of the game, he had a fastbreak layup, took a charge, then rebounded a Cardinal's missed free throw to clinch it. Obviously 97 percent of you have no idea who Peyton Stovall even is, but I'm going to miss that guy. BSU is now 6-22 (5-10 MAC) and locked into the 10th seed in the MAC tourney, which I'll be covering in Cleveland over spring break. Woohoo.

If ND falls into the danger zone of becoming a 5 seed - which would require a loss before the Big East semis, which I don't think will happen - I will spend every night praying that Ohio State is matched up with them in a 5/12 game. I can't emphasize this strongly enough. I would say something about OSU possibly bumping a Big East team that would likely mop the floor with them from the tourney, but at this point Cuse and Nova need a lot of help to slip into the dance.

The teams I hate are as follows: 1. Cardinals 2a. If the Cubs are in the playoff race, whoever is competing with them, especially a divisional foe 2b. White Sox If the Brewers can continue to be successful for a while, and they certainly have the young talent to, they can definitely work their way slowly towards Cardinals level for me.

Although I'm not excited about Texas as the 2 in ND's bracket this week, the rest of the bracket looks pretty darn beatable. I'd rather play Memphis than any other 1 seed, Wisconsin's the 3 (more Big Ten teams in ND's way the better), and Vandy's the 5. There's no team in that bracket besides Texas that I'd even consider picking to make the Final 4 under any circumstances. Give me this draw on Selection Sunday and I'll take it.

I should be able to do this. I'll rep Notre Dame, obviously, and I'd consider Villanova for an at-large - they've played a difficult schedule and with a strong finish and Big East tournament run they could have a faint shot.

ND dispatched DePaul 98-91, staving off a 60-point half by the Blue Demons in the 2nd frame. Harangody had 24 and 9 while Kurz added 21 and 7. The win officially locks up a 1st round bye in the Big East tourney.

For the sake of all the viewers please limit the Big Ten to the 4 top teams in the tourney. Florida shouldn't be in either honestly.

Between Ewing's goaltend/not goaltend, the insane foul on Nova, and what just happened now, Georgetown has to be one of the luckiest teams in college hoops this season. I guess they deserve some credit though - they're a home win against Louisville away from winning the Big East outright. ND pretty much clinches a bye in the Big East tournament - they might stumble once in the DePaul/St. John's/USF trio, but not twice.

Georgetown can thank the gods of fate if they escape with this one. Jonathan Wallace banks in a 3 as the shot clock is running out on a wild shot.

Whoever wins the Big 10 tourney probably gets a 3, whoever that team beats probably gets a 4, and whoever of the big three doesn't make the final gets a 4 or a 5. Just my .02. I think L-Ville is a 2 as long as they make the Big East final, G-Town is a 3, and UConn and ND both deserve a 4, but I think one of them (and it'll probably be us) gets shuttled to 5. As for Indiana teams, I'd be surprised if any are still standing in the Elite 8, but all of them are Sweet 16 caliber. Of the teams I'd say IU has the best chance to win three games because they have the best pair of players of any of the teams.

Wow, 3rd and 5th rounders isn't a bad haul for Jenkins. He isn't really very good anymore. I like what the Panthers are doing so far this offseason, I just hope they bring in some good FAs and a good draft to top it off.

Damn, damn, damn. I'd heard talk that he'd explore his options and I wanted him to leave like none other. Here's to Anderson being Derek Anderson again next year and Quinn getting his shot.

Now that they are finally healthy, the Cards are going to be a tough team to beat. Your team better learn how to play D. You guys are great on offense but your defense is going to cost you in the NCAA's. Ordinarily we are much better on defense...Brey came out in a zone for some odd reason and it failed miserably. There's really no reason for us to play zone unless Luke Zeller (who can't defend bigs by himself) is on the court, because all the other guys we have are decent if unspectacular on the ball defenders. I'm not too worried. For a while now I've been looking at ND as a Sweet 16-caliber team, maybe Elite 8 if they get the right draw, but not more than that. Should be a fun March.

Not the height of comedy or anything, but it's nice to see the Fukudome having no problems blending in with his teammates. I'm pumped for the season.

I don't see how I don't take you guys to make the Final Four. Those first twelve minutes or so were utterly dominant. Made us look like fools. Very impressive.
