  1. I really hope we don't give in and sign him to an extension. We won't. We already signed can't-shoot Kirk Hinrich to a 13mil per deal to play shooting guard alongside Rose. I hate this organization. We're going to dump Ben Gordon like bad rubbish but they can't get enough of Kirk Hinrich. How many teams have ever been successful with their primary scorer being an undersized two guard who is a one dimensional player? Well, I suppose this doesn't have anything to do with the current situation, but he wouldn't have to be our primary scorer if we didn't insist on taking defense-first gangly tall guys with lottery picks two years in a row.
  2. Would I be content with the season as a whole? Yes. Would I be content with the series result? I think that's pretty obvious.
  3. Gardy hit and runs into a lineout DP in the top of the 1st and Blackburn hangs an 0-2 breaking ball in the bottom for a single. This is not going so well.
  4. Yeah, I won't be in any game threads. My friend is having people over for every playoff game. Probably for the best anyway.
  5. Cubs (who beat Philly in the NLCS) beat the Red Sox (who beat the Rays in the ALCS) in 5. Chicago is a mob scene.

  7. Big words from someone going to the dentist that day, too.
  8. I remember a key double play with a chance to make a game of it - might have been the game-ender, I dunno. But honestly, my mind has wiped much of that NLCS. I don't remember Games 2 or 3 at all, only remember Game 4 because I listened to the radio of Aramis's slam, and only remember Game 1 because of Sammy.
  9. April 2008: Andy wants the Panthers to draft Mendenhall and is pissed when they pick Stewart. October 2008: Mendenhall gets hurt and Stewart is a very good second running back to complement DeAngelo. This is like the 4th straight year I haven't liked our first-rounder and the 4th straight year I've been wrong. Although both Carolina's tackles got hurt against Atlanta and didn't return. That could be trouble.
  10. I would absolutely love Lane Kiffin on the Panthers' coaching staff in some capacity. Anyway, Carolina should beat K.C., especially if they play as they did last week. The Chiefs have a very good running game, but so do Minnesota and Atlanta, and Carolina did a good job against both of those rushing attacks. This is a possible trap game, though, coming in between divisional games, especially with the trip to Tampa looming next week. Tampa plays Denver, so here's hoping good Jay Cutler returns for that one.
  11. By all means, make this signing. Lohse is a disaster waiting to happen. He had the best year of his professional life this season and still was only slightly better than league average.
  12. What a load of crap. http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2008/09/cubs-fans-are-afraid-of-dick-stockton.html
  13. So luckily, the 10 pm Cubs start means that my previously scheduled Saturday of going to the Notre Dame game and later listening to see if my alma mater can go 6-0 for the first time since 1965 can proceed - the only alteration is a premature ending to that last part. Both ND and Ball State are much better than their opponents and should win rather easily. BSU will likely jump into the polls for what I believe will be the first time in school history with a victory.
  14. Lord. How am I gonna make it to Wednesday? At least I get to watch it...I get home from work by 6, giving me a half hour before the game starts.
  15. This will probably get me flamed, but I'm rooting for you guys in the NLDS. A Cubs/Brewers NLCS would be epic. It really would be. It would be fitting. I cant even think about that right now. I cant belive I was crying like a baby. I just listened to Pat Hughes home run call on Brauns homer and he had a little excitement to the call which was really cool to hear. He used to work for the Brewers, so it'd be understandable that he'd be happy for them. Best of luck vs Philly.
  16. Cubs win in 4, with Z's game being the only loss and the board continuing to be nervous about him heading to the NLCS, hopefully against the remains of CC and Milwaukee.
  17. A whole bunch of games that will be ignored in favor of Game 3 of the NLDS... 18. Hey, Derek Anderson is still absolutely horrible at football but Cincinnati is even worse, which means he'll probably still be starting in Week 6 when Cleveland plays again. And Carolina not only won but actually played well doing it. I'm confused.
  19. LOL at Notre Dame not even receiving a vote in the AP poll after all the cracks I heard yesterday from friends about them being undeservedly ranked this week. The voters are smarter than you think they are. What I do not like is that we are going to beat Stanford, which means absolutely nothing, next week and will receive votes. And Ball State will be ranked when they beat Toledo next week. I don't see how anyone besides the Cards can stop them from scoring 40 points the rest of the year, Nate Davis is a machine.
  20. We had a keeper league going last year but I doubt anyone will continue it. Seemed like no one was paying attention by about January.
  21. I think I'd prefer the Angels.
  22. I missed Game 3 of the NLDS and Game 4 of the NLCS in 2003 due to having to cover my high school's football team for our little TV 'news show' that we did in high school. I did bring a portable radio to listen to the games though.
  23. My first baseball game was at old Cleveland Municipal in 1987 and I was about 7 months old. The Tigers beat the Indians 13-3. I only know this because it was in my baby book. My first Cubs game was May 5, 2000, at Wrigley against Pittsburgh. Sammy Sosa and Eric Young both hit solo homers, but the Cubs lost 4-2.
