  1. The sad part is that absolutely none of us really thought anything was coming of that. Truly scary thought - what if everyone just flat out loses any faith this will ever happen?
  2. Would've been more so if they had done that for Game 1. By the time this game rolled around we had plenty of warning this would happen whereas Titanic came out of nowhere. "Captain, we've run these channels five times in the last 25 years, and five times we've ran into an iceberg and had a horrific tragedy. Should we be nervous it might happen a sixth?" The 2008 Cubs have nothing to do with any other Cubs team (except to some extent 2007). I'm kinda tired of hearing anything to the contrary. Keep predicting that, keep being wrong. Keep guaranteeing they'll win games, keep being wrong. Does it get old being wrong so often? How the heck would you know that I often predict things? I don't. I made that prediction because I had a feeling. I was clearly wrong. I really don't give a crap about being right or wrong, I want to see the Cubs win. And it's not happening. But that doesn't mean I'm buying into some damn curse that doesn't exist.

  4. They've got their own getting swept to worry about.

  6. Rich Harden is not to blame for this fiasco. That would've been his 1st run given up of the game if the rules could be called correctly on the field, for one thing. what rule? i must be too drunk to remember Martin at 3rd base.

  8. Ball sticks under the fence. That sums it up pretty well.
  9. A further problem is that he's batting.
  10. I apologize for my ridiculous guarantee. I didn't realize Hiroki Kuroda was the Asian equivalent of Jesus freaking Christ.
  11. You know, I really hope LA enjoys getting smacked around by whoever wins the other series because they don't hand them games.
  12. That was a major screwup, yes, but DeRosa has been one of the best players on our team this playoffs. And yes, I'm aware how pathetic that is since he has a key GIDP and a key error.
  13. This series has proven at least one thing to me. There is no god. At least no loving god. Sure there is. He loves the Padres, and the Giants, and the Braves, and the Marlins, and the Diamondbacks, and the Dodgers. I had a Cardinal fan friend try to tell me he understood how I felt. His frame of reference: Getting swept in the '04 World Series and how nervous he was during their pennant-clinching win in Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS. I stared at him incredulously. LOL. St. Louis fans can not possibly know anything about this. Jeff Weaver's performance in the 2006 World Series. End of story. That one game is more luck than the Cubs have caught in every postseason game they've played in the last hundred years put together.
  14. Mizzou game + rum is doing the trick for me it seems. Yeah, unfortunately my school is never on TV and is already done smoking their opponent today. Maybe I'll pop into my Coors Lights...
  15. Oh yeah, we'll keep coming back. I love baseball too much. Even if I could somehow give up the Cubs, I'd want to follow the sport anyway.
  16. And now Fontenot is hurt. Someone please make it so I don't care about baseball anymore.
  17. Seriously, dink and dunk hits all over the place. We don't have any of them. The playoffs are a load of BS.
  18. The playoffs are a joke. 97 freaking wins, far and away the best team in the league, and we play two bad games and we're all but done. Screw that.
  19. When 2 runs score with 3 outs having already been made, yes, we're going to get pissed at the umps. Get pissed at the crap offense, not the umps. There was no concrete evidence that the tag was applied before he got to the bag. Meanwhile, Edmonds and Derosa with worm killers in the infield. This team is choking, period! Well the ball beat him. The Cubs continue to be the only team in the majors that doesn't consistently get that call. And he was out. The thing that sucks about this is that no one outside of us will remember how good this team was for six months if we lose this game or series. They'll just remember the crappy October games You don't know that though. You only know the Cubs get bad calls because you watch all the Cubs games. I'm sure if you watched 162 Royals games, you could say the same thing that they're the only team in baseball that doesn't get calls to go their way either. You are right about that, and yes, sample size, but teams that play us sure seem to get that call a lot when it's unwarranted. Most of this is hollow whining though.
  20. I hate Ronny Cedeno, but he needs to be our SS next year. Ryan Theriot is just plain not good at anything except hitting singles. And that is not good enough.

  23. Seriously, the game of baseball must not like us. I don't know how else to explain it. Ludicrous that this crap keeps happening
