  1. Is it just the way that ref's face looks, or was he stifling a laugh when talking about enforcing the 15-yarder just then?
  2. I came in today thinking the Colts would be colossally lucky to have the Jets win. Now I'm thinking that the Jets, along with Minnesota, are two of the defenses in the league best equipped to stop the Colts, and they may have to play both to win the title. Throw in the 'they're the only reason the Jets made it' subplot and next week could actually be a fascinating AFC title game. Rex Ryan has done a phenomenal job the last 2 weeks.
  3. no one's saying luck is the reason they won. they are obviously the best team in the AFC and they dominated today. all we are talking about is how every time manning threw a pick or the ravens got a big play on offense something went the colts' way. it's not a hard concept to grasp. Yep. 17-3 and Manning tosses up a pick, but Ed Reed, normally a smart football player, fails to account for the possibility that someone might strip the ball from him from behind, so the Colts get it back. Then Manning tosses up another pick and Reed takes it deep into Colts' territory, but a Ravens player commits a dumb interference penalty that was unnecessary because the ball was tossed into double coverage anyway. If either of those picks had stood, 17-10 could have changed the complexion of that game. But that's why the Ravens were the 6 seed and the Colts were the 1 - because the Colts don't do that. They are almost maddeningly machine-like in their ability to avoid backbreaking mistakes and kill opponents for theirs.
  4. I'm with this statement. The Colts catch a lot of lucky breaks, but I think they also stick out more because they make their opponents pay for every one. Baltimore is playing stupid - I'm not sure if they always do this or what, since I've only watched them against the Colts this year.
  5. Ed Reed is usually smarter than that. But a great hustle play.
  6. Also amazing that other teams keep giving the Colts the ball back in situations where they can score. At the very least the Ravens should've run into the line on 3rd and long to make the Colts use a timeout. And now it's pretty much ballgame because Baltimore can't play from this far behind.
  7. 2nd
  8. 90 points in 7 quarters.
  9. 9 for [expletive] 19 from the free throw line. We had a 93 percent shooter miss two FTs in a row and their 51 percent FT shooter made two in a row, on a 1 and 1 no less. Cuse is now a must-win.
  10. Irish lead at Cincinnati 39-37 with 14:30 to go. Need this one with Syracuse coming in on Monday night.
  11. YELLOW? I vaguely wonder if Kiffin is intentionally trying to portray himself as an idiot.
  12. Keep winning, Bulls. Keep logging 30-point games, Rose.
  13. I guess I didn't expect him to go. Should be interesting to see where he ends up and if he's given a real shot as a tailback.
  14. Two of my friends are going to the Colts game on Saturday.
  15. Who knows of the accuracy of this 10-millionth source, but here we go. So just to clarify the indignation rules, leaving Duke after 2 years to go to Tennessee is perfectly ok but leaving Tennessee after 1 year to go USC is an outrage. Just want to be sure so I know whether to be prepared to burn some mattresses if this happens. Well, let's not let a little ignorance get in the way of a weird rant. Cutcliffe has been at Duke more than 2 seasons? Enlighten me. Leaving Duke for Tennessee is a slightly different animal than Tennessee to USC, considering the difference in personalities and the difference in those coaches' results (comparative to program expectations).
  16. GaTech's O-line wasn't brought there to run the option, either. I suspect that as Johnson gets his recruits in there that the option will flow even better for them.
  17. I just hate the option. It's so dull and unimaginative. I can see that but when only a few teams are running it, I love it. I think what a lot of the "spread" teams are doing is really dull and unimaginative. Georgia Tech's offense (outside of the Iowa game) is really explosive against some good teams. I'll admit I didn't watch a lot of GT football this year, but in the bowl game I was looking forward to seeing what they were doing that was so special. After watching it, I came away wondering what the big deal was. The problem with bowl games for the option is you get a month to prepare for it. Good coaching can catch up to that given enough time. GT's lost both bowl games since Johnson arrived, one was a rout and this year wasn't that close either.
  18. Calhoun's called a team meeting for 5:50 pm today. Meanwhile, Skip Holtz just got hired at South Florida.
  19. How many names and seasons from the last seven years or so could you plug into that sentence to describe Cardinal players, though?
  20. I have no idea why the approval of Cubs fans is so important here. I fully expect that if the roles were reversed, there would be some Sammy hate going on.
  21. I'm with you, but just because I enjoy UNC getting crushed under any circumstance.
  22. Cincinnati loses to St. John's at the last second. Notre Dame really needs to get them on Saturday. The LMU loss has basically removed their margin for error, and they need to get every game they are 'supposed' to win, plus a couple that they're not.
  23. Jose Valverde evidently doesn't think he antagonizes the Cubs enough.
  24. I have no idea why Stoops seems so willing to leave Oklahoma, but that would make 2 jobs he's been linked to this offseason that really aren't any better (no offense).
