  1. Monte's going with him as well. Fine by me. Kiffin's pretty good but I find it hard to believe he can be as good as Carroll was there.
  2. After "Bob Stoops is going to be ND's coach tomorrow", I take anything Schefter ever says about college coaching with a metric ton of salt. Especially when no one else is reporting this.
  3. For all the talk around here about the MLB playoffs being a crap shoot why isn't the NCAA tourney viewed the same way? Teams get hot at the right time and make a nice run. Unfortunatel,y Purdue has not had success in that manner. However, they have been able to endure and triumph through a very tough conference season 21 times. That cannot be dismissed just because of the lack of their tournament success. It's been my experience that people (not just here, but any fan I talk to) really only use tournament success or failure when it suits their argument, whether it be pumping one team up, discounting another, trying to prove conference supremacy, or something similar. no, i'm not trying to suit an argument, i'm just pointing out that a program like mighty iowa has more final fours than the powerhouse boilermakers, who clearly, along with IU, make up the top-tier of the big ten. i mean, to the point where it would be grossly and terribly unfair to put them in the same division if the conference were expanded. Oh, I'm with you. Purdue's not even close to the top tier of the Big 11 historically. That was more of a general observation.
  4. Misquoted. Hardcorecubfan said that. I honestly don't think there is a single Cubs fan out there who doesn't think Sosa didn't juice. Since he tested positive in 03 it's really not a matter of opinion anymore.

  6. I took Cary Harris in round 2 when he didn't go until the 183rd pick and has done nothing, took Pat White in round 3 when he was really picked in round 2, and made a homer pick of Robert Brewster in round 4, who probably would've been a contributor for Dallas if not for a season-ending injury before the season even began. So I'll give myself a 2/3. Once again I will be without a 1st round pick because we just love Everette Brown.
  7. ND is Michael Floyd and then up for grabs. A couple of solid possibilities among the young group, but no one that's really grabbed me.
  8. Awesome move, and if Rosenthal's correct and we get him for an incentive-laden deal, it's an awesomer move. Sheets is definitely a gamble worth taking.
  9. Personally, I'd love Prater. I saw a YouTube highlight film of him and he looks like a solid player. But he wants to enroll early and he doesn't have a sufficient course load to do it at ND. I'm guessing he ends up at Illinois.
  10. No great loss. He's over-rated. Might actually get some playing time at one of those schools. Considering the scholarships USC's probably going to lose fairly soon, I imagine Prater would get plenty of playing time at USC.
  11. My pick is obvious.
  12. Every single NFC playoff game this year will be indoors. Crazy.
  13. These games really look they could make a fun weekend - except Jets/SD, which should by all rights be a total blowout. Flacco will have to do much more to beat the Colts than he did to beat NE, though.
  14. The Colts' road to the Super Bowl is tougher with Baltimore coming in than it would've been with the Jets, IMO.
  15. Goodnight Philly. Cowboys/Vikes next week should be entertaining.
  16. In other news, Notre Dame storms out to a 20 point lead by going off for 75 percent shooting in the first half and holds on for dear life to edge out West Virginia 70-68. Although probably an undeserved win, it's a colossal one for tourney hopes. 3-1 in the Big East, and if they can somehow split the Cincy/Syracuse games next week they'd be looking ok.
  17. If you're still alive, sorry Rocket. That's brutal.
  18. So Carleton Scott is on an indefinite leave of absence from Notre Dame, leaving us with a six-man rotation tonight. Memo to Brey: Crap like this is why you play more than 7 players per game. West Virginia is going to clobber ND in ugly fashion tonight.
  19. So Brad Smith took that snap and Keller was ridden out of bounds on that play according to Hammond.
  20. Am I the only one that thinks it's a woman sideline reporter talking whenever Joe Gibbs opens his mouth?
  21. ND viewers subjected to Hammond 8 times a year are having war flashbacks. He is the worst prominent play by play man in sports except Dick Stockton.
  22. Joe Schad just Tweeted Tuberville to TT, will be announced later today.
  23. Maybe, just maybe, it's because he runs a renegade program that breaks/flouts NCAA rules left and right, and because he's a nearly 60-year-old man who acts like he's 25 or younger at times (like the ridiculous display vs UCLA this year). I mean, that might be it. I'm not sure.
  24. He's been leaning UCLA for a while from all I've read. Kelly had an in-home with him last week but last I heard, Notre Dame has some ground to make up. Tony Brooks (ND star RB from early '90s) is his dad, which I just read, and ND is now offering him at WR (Weis was trying to get him at LB), so it will be interesting to see which way he goes. In any case, it's good to see Kelly shooting for the moon.
