  1. St. John's ranks 239th in Division I in 3-point percentage, at 31.7 percent. Currently they are 6/8 from long range.
  2. I'm assuming your comment was sarcastic Derwood, but the 04-05 team averaged 39.2% from three as a team. That's almost 5% above the NCAA average for the 04-05 season. That [expletive] only happens to Sulley's teams
  3. Who exactly doesn't 'chuck' according to this definition?
  4. And Billy Taylor will be hired away after this season. This is why my rooting for BSU is half-hearted. The first real successful season we have Taylor is gone. If he stays one more season maybe he will replace Brey if ND falls apart with out Harangody. I doubt Taylor gets hired away after a barely-above-.500 season in year 3. It would take some sustained success including NCAA berths, which we are still a good distance away from if Kent's destruction of us last week is evidence. He won't get a great job but remember how crappy the MAC pays coaches. Going to a struggling big school or a good small conference school will give him a good sized raise. As far as the sustained success I don't think you have to have that great of success to get hired away especially when you consider the very publicized circumstances Taylor took the program over in. If they win the MAC West title this year that will make it 2 in row and this year it will have been in a respectable form. I think that is more than enough (especially considering his success at Lehigh too) to get him a struggling Big East school offer. As far as ND is concerned I think if he stays one more year and again wins the MAC West he could get that job since he is an alum. However, that is a big if as is Brey getting booted. I want Brey booted and Fran McCaffery to replace him, but that's not going to happen. I think if Taylor really puts it together next year and has a great season (possible since I believe only 2 regular players will be out of eligibility after this year) he will get an offer, and if he does I'd be fine with it being from Notre Dame.
  5. I especially liked that the Koreans knocked each other out as opposed to skaters from different countries getting tangled up.For no real reason I always get mildly annoyed when I see the replay of Ohno getting taken out in 02, just because the Korean who fell into him seemed to stick his arm out to knock him down. I'm sure it was unintentional, but the Olympics are all about irrational homerism.
  6. i beg to differ. Yes, I, like about 10 other posters in this thread, are posting updates about a team no one gives a [expletive] about. Get over it. I don't want to read 10 pages of Illinois every time they play and you don't want to read one post per 5 pages about Ball State. We'll call it even. oh, i wasn't complaining, i was just saying that i seriously doubt that it could, in any way, be fun. It certainly won't be pretty. We play ugly basketball even by MAC standards.

  9. BSU back on track after beating NIU 71-66 today. Assuming Central beats Toledo, the worst team in the league, tomorrow, that sets up a potential division title battle at Worthen Arena next Wednesday, with both teams 7-5 in the MAC. Could be fun.
  10. The taunting rule is a [expletive] joke and is selectively enforced like maybe no other rule in sports besides maybe holding.
  11. How did USF sneak in? Aren't they 5-6 in the Big East?
  12. http://www.statesman.com/sports/longhorns/texas-headed-to-the-big-ten-not-likely-230052.html As for the Big 12 protecting KU more than Texas, that doesn't make a lot of sense. The conference alignment is based on geography, not some sneaky attempt to put KU in the softest division possible. And the basketball tournament, which was always in KC, now rotates between three locations. (Which is fair, but it doesn't support KU getting preferential treatment.) There are a bunch of other points to support that the power is in the south (and Texas), not the least of which is the fact the conference office is in freaking Texas. Besides, why would they protect KU hoops over Texas? I'm sure UT makes way more money for the conference. KU hoops is the "franchise" though. The Big 12 oughta just drop the cup cakes and go to a longer schedule like the Big Ten did.I'm a big fan of as many conferences as possible playing 18 league games in basketball.
  13. Seton Hall is now 11/17 from 3-point range. Jeremy Hazell has 30 points on 9 [expletive] shot attempts. If you're not supposed to make the tourney, you're not supposed to make the tourney.
  14. I'm not sure why he gets so many of them, I guess the refs are anticipating a lot. Tim Higgins is reffing this game, so all bets are off.
  15. Jesus, there is no team we can't make look good on offense. I wish ND would play Ball State just to see how bad a team has to be on offense and not score big points on the Irish.
  16. Well they have to do something to combat Harangody's get your crap packed, yet throw your arms up and you get to shoot two free throws anyway. Enjoy these last 5 games Luke. You haven't watched ND once this year. Harangody's been shooting jumpers like crazy. If he actually employed that strategy we might not be on the bubble right now. And if Luke Harangody got half the calls a certain other undersized white forward got his entire 4 year career got he'd be shattering scoring records. I've been watching this game. There were three pays in a row where he got the benefit of the doubt on calls. One was the charge where he was moving. He does seem to get those calls. But he gets less than his share - in my biased opinion - of the ones you're referring to, when he's on offense.

  18. I'm bestowing the sulleymon memorial 'chucker' moniker on Seton Hall, and of course they're making everything they toss up.
  19. You guys taunted Paul Pierce when HE COULDN'T EVEN WALK last year. Maybe Rose should man up. Wait, you mean the Lazarus Wheelchair Incident? Yeah, everyone taunted him for that, and they should, because it was [expletive] ridiculous.
  20. It'd be cool if he didn't act like it was awesome that he injured our [expletive] all-star and basically guaranteed us L's until he comes back (God, make it right after the break).
  21. My official hope is for Clausen to go to Washington. New coach, relative history of success, a decent base with which to work, and lots of TV games thanks to the media's love of the NFC East. That being said he'll probably fall to Cleveland or Buffalo, thereby ensuring his professional failure just like the last one. I would be concerned about Carolina, but we of course don't pick until round 2 and are currently burning our bridges with our best defensive player, so yeah.
  22. Haha, what a prick.
  23. Rachel Bilson or Jordana Brewster's characters would've been much tougher choices to pass up.
  24. Did he have any reasoning behind that? Because that's clearly insane. He basically said they have no talent but are still in contention. Contention for what exactly? We're .500 at the moment. Chuck's a little nuts. That being said, I really hope we manage to get matched up with Boston again in the playoffs. We're not going to win the title anyway and it'd be nice to have a shot at a little revenge. Sorry, not contention, but rather in the playoff hunt. I know that's what he meant, but 'contention' seems a pretty loose term to apply. If we were in the other conference we wouldn't even be sniffing the playoffs. I'm not as down on Vinny as I was a month ago, obviously, but coach of the year is crazy talk.
