  1. '08 alum. First became a full fledged Boiler basketball fanatic when I got there in '02 with Willy Deane flying all over the court and Kenneth Lowe dropping shots from Slater Hill. Sounds like we've got a little overlap, I was there from '98 until '04 (graduated in December of '03). I think a lot of the other guys are more recent grads too. Da Bum is local (W.L. native) but not directly affiliated with the school. Can't speak for circlecitycub or grassbass, though.
  2. That UConn win goes a long way towards putting 8 Big East teams in the tourney. Which means nothing except that it gives me slightly more of a rooting interest. Luke Harangody will be out for Wednesday's game against Pitt, which means they will either get run out of the gym or suffer a heartbreaking loss (though those were the two most likely occurrences even if he did play).
  3. Days like this remind those of us eternal optimists that the Bulls are a mediocre basketball team, and one coached by Vinny Del Negro at that.
  4. My favorite matchup of the Bracketology bracket is Butler drawing the 5 seed in Spokane opposite 4-seed Gonzaga, a school located in...Spokane. Yeah, that's fair.
  5. HOLY [expletive]! HOW DID HE JUST DO THAT! BALLGAME!
  6. 1:06. COME ON
  7. 30 years ago tomorrow was the Miracle On Ice...which ended 4-3. I guess it was inevitable.
  8. Oh good gravy, after all that craziness, that lame-ass thing goes in.
  9. Ryan Miller is a [expletive] man. Holy crap.
  10. Langenbrunner got it, but BRIAN [expletive] RAFALSKI And now RYAN [expletive] MILLER
  11. I've never gotten slalom. It's an accomplishment just to figure out which of those gazillions of slalom poles you're actually supposed to ski through, let alone get down the course.
  12. US defense has been great deflecting shots and possible shots, but they need to GET IN CANADA'S ZONE
  13. Man, Ryan Miller was just plain awesome that first period.
  14. Cavs lose again. Only 13 back! The comeback is on!
  15. he's doing it to get a rise out of everyone, and it's working. Weir's Wikipedia says he refuses to confirm whether he's gay or not, as if anyone is still unsure.
  16. Ohno just got screwed getting pushed by that Canadian. Managed to come back and win bronze.
  17. Lately, it seems like he's a guy that's always close to getting a double-double every game. For an extremely weak draft class, we should be thrilled that we were able to land him 26th overall. I criticized the pick just as much as anybody else and he's done a fantastic job in making me eat my words. I shredded the Bulls for taking him over DeJuan Blair. Not so dumb after all.
  18. How the hell can the judges just arbitrarily advance that Canadian when he was in 3rd when he crashed and only the top two are supposed to move on? That's one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
  19. Miracle that they didn't crash. Unfortunately they're pretty much out of the medals because of it.
  20. Syracuse missed the tournament once with 10 Big East wins and I believe Penn State or someone else missed the tourney last year with 10 Big Ten wins.
  21. i'm not sure that mean anything though. they win most of the time and likely get fouled at the end of those wins. plus 30 over the whole season is like 1.2 a game at this point. I guess so. I'm just bitter. Imagine if ND and Purdue actually played (which I wish they would to boost our OOC RPI). My largely dormant antipathy towards the team would be close to UConn-with-Thabeet levels.
  22. For whatever it's worth, Purdue entered today having shot 30 more FT's than their opponents despite shooting 56 more 3's than their opponents and having the single fouling-est defender in possibly the history of basketball on their team.
  23. When your own RPI is better and you have fewer losses, I'd say at the very least call it even.
  24. So Cuse is better than Purdue in every category except having two fewer wins against the RPI top 25 (Cuse has a home game with Nova left so they can get another one), and they're in a better conference, and Lavin thinks Purdue should get a 1 over them. That's not homerific at all.
  25. Oh, look, Kramer fell down. Must be a foul on the other team.
