  1. I agree. I'm still surprised it wasn't reversed (mainly because I always fear the worst on review), but the more I look at it, the less it seems to qualify as indisputable evidence.
  2. "Indisputable evidence": http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/1550591/ballnd.gif
  3. Which plain? Great Plains? Auburn on the Plains? So many questions. Cute deflection. We got lucky, but no one wants to see me post about ND and collegiate replay-official calls again, so I'll leave it at that.

  5. Somewhere, David Grimes is smiling about that replay decision.
  6. Maybe don't go with an empty backfield on 3rd and [expletive] 16 inside your own 5 with a freshman QB. Just a thought.
  7. A Cardinals fan friend of mine posted a trolling Facebook status asking whether Reds, Cubs or Nationals fans were most disappointed this morning. I don't know the guy who replied, but his reply was perfect: "Baseball fans."
  8. Other than Holliday and Beltran, they really have never made any effort to bring in established good players from the outside. And why would you?
  9. If they go on to win this thing, they will have the THREE worst teams to ever win the Random Championship Generator.
  10. I want to say the Giants have the pitching to shut them down but they didnt seem to have a problem with the Phillies last year. They just won't lose under any circumstances and I refuse to believe otherwise. I don't think they're gonna lose either, but at least they have to go through a whole team. The Reds would've been without Cueto if they had advanced just like the Nats without Strasburg. I think the best chance STL has of losing at this point is if the Tigers win the ALCS and in fewer than seven games so Verlander can pitch at least twice.
  11. This is why the Giants had to win. At least STL has to face a team at full strength now.
  12. What'd Bob say?
  13. I envy your optimism, good sir.
  14. It's certainly a terrific thing for him, but considering his career began right after the wild card was introduced and he's been on the most successful team of the wild-card era the entire time, it's not really surprising.
  15. A-Rod benched for Yanks/Orioles Game 5.
  16. Yep. And Josh Donaldson was in the Rich Harden deal.
  17. Sun rises in East, etc.
  18. It's baseball. There's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with it if it weren't a game 5. But why isn't STL/Nats the first game? Makes no sense. It makes plenty of sense. It's a day game, what difference is noon or 3? Throughout MLB history fans who wanted to watch or listen to a game have made an effort to watch or listen to a game. You can't play them all at perfectly ideal times. Every single person on here would be bitching if the Cubs were in the playoffs and played at noon. If the Cubs were in the playoffs, which they haven't sniffed in 4 years, there's nothing that could make me that unhappy apart from losses.
  19. Hopefully SF can complete the comeback so we don't get the nightmare StL-Cincy NLCS matchup. If STL and CIN win, the Cardinals dodge the other team's ace for the second straight series, because Cueto can't pitch in the NLCS now since Leake replaced him this series.
  20. Orioles are the only team since 1900 not to suffer a walk-off loss. Incredible stat.
  21. Those would be the computer rankings. The overall BCS rankings would be more or less what the current poll rankings are.
  22. A short recap of STL's postseason so far: - Reached the playoffs via a playoff spot that didn't exist before this season - Won wild-card game with help from one of the worst (or at the least, most controversial) umpiring calls in baseball history, not to mention inexplicably terrible defense from one of the best-fielding teams in the game this year - Advanced to play the only team in the playoffs who is without one of their best players (and just to rub it in, said player is not even injured) - About to take 2 games to 1 lead in best of 5 series on the back of a player who is so bad at hitting that as recently as last year was putting up an OPS AT TRIPLE-A that was worse than Joe Mather's major-league OPS this season
  23. Career-high OPS in the minors: .702, 2010, AA Springfield. OPS last year in the hitter-friendly PCL: .569. OPS this year in the hitter-friendly PCL: .647.

    NFL Week 6

I'm going to enjoy watching some competent football teams this week.
  25. The obvious reply to this is "Which one?"
