This is the team with the best resume in the SEC, too. And it wasn't particularly close through 12 games.

Specifically, no SEC team has given up fewer than 24 points yet in a bowl. And as I'm sure the B1G fans on this board will also note, two of the league's best teams aren't playing in bowls, which created some mismatches with SEC foes.

If Carolina got screwed out of a playoff win by refs, I'd pitch a fit. Getting screwed out of playoff seeding when there's no indication that any seed is any better than another? Meh. "Luckily" for me, my team seems intent on only playing well after they're eliminated every season for the rest of time, so I don't need to worry about it too much.

Beat SF at home and it's meaningless. Replacement officials made that game a farce as well. It just wasn't one-sided. Either way, I hate when people say stuff like that. Well, I hate when people whine about the officials when there was a pretty simple way for their team to make anything the refs do meaningless, so touche.

And they also got screwed on a ridiculous helmet-to-helmet call on a defenseless receiver that was neither helmet to helmet nor a defenseless receiver. Not that this game matters at all. Are you talking about the one early in the fourth quarter in the red zone? Because that one was absolutely a helmet to helmet. No, I'm on DVR and haven't gotten there yet. I'm referring to the one on Kuechly in the first half. ETA: I just caught a ridiculous one on a Raider against Greg Olsen, so it looks like they're just idiots today.

Cam Newton has been absolutely on fire ever since I expressed doubt in him at 1-6. Keep making me look dumb, Cam, it is fun to watch.

MVP. When was the last time a non QB won the award? Tomlinson in '06. Shaun Alexander won it in '05. I'm incredibly biased but he should win it. Yeah Manning has been awesome but they went to the playoffs without a QB last year. The Vikings were 3-13 last year, have the 26th ranked pass offense this year and are 8-6 because he's going to have 1,900-2,100 yards against 8 and 9 man fronts all [expletive] year. They've been without Percy for almost half the year. It's absurd. Peterson should absolutely win the thing. He's incredible. It's mind-boggling what he's doing.

I know this is a joke but my mom asked me recently who Tim Brown's Heisman competition was in 1987 and I was shocked to see a Holy Cross player finished third. That's never happening again. weird i was just talking with my mom about who got third in the 1979 heisman race. It had been way too long since you chimed in on one of my posts. Thanks so much for your addendum

That's not so much because of some grand conspiracy as because the Heisman has been ESPNized. Almost every year now someone wins by a gigantic margin because ESPN has taken to spending the last month or so of the season pimping somebody as the front-runner. The only times in recent years that haven't brought a giant margin are years like 2009 where literally no one stands out at all (except Suh, who was robbed, but whatever). Suh stands a good example of a much more dominant college player who couldn't reach the top three in the heisman. But Te'o is being held back because of the anti-ND bias. Right. I was actually going to add to that post that if Suh, who clearly had a more dominant season than Manti did, couldn't get it then obviously Manti won't. I think if Suh had won that year, Manti would have a better shot. I do think Te'o's effect on games is being undervalued because he doesn't have many sacks or TFL's in a defense specifically designed so that he won't get them, though. If ND didn't have a good front four, Te'o would have much better numbers in the 'sexier' categories. (Of course, if they didn't have a good front four, they wouldn't be 12-0 either.)
