  1. Err...the lower seeds don't have home field advantage. It definitely could be argued that they do. Yeah, I don't know the math, but I'm fairly sure someone who looked it up would find that a very large percentage of the best of 5 series in baseball history have ended in fewer than 5 games.
  2. I think it should be Trout, but it's hard to hate on the idea of a Triple Crown winner who made the playoffs winning it, either. (Yes, I know the Angels won more games.)

    NFL Week 5

Tebow will be the starting QB in week 6.
  4. You are being a masochist, and so am I. I think a Beltway Series would be fun, but I think Atlanta vs Oakland is what I'd like to see the most. I have no real reason for that.
  5. Six years ago, at age 27, Kyle Lohse posted an ERA of 5.83, including above 7 in the Twins' half of his season. I just knew then that someday he would be the ace on a playoff team.
  6. He knows he can retire anyway, doesn't he? SOMEONE TELL HIM YOU CAN RETIRE WHILE UNDER CONTRACT.
  7. Austin Torres, a former CMU commit who plays on Demetrius Jackson's AAU team (and for my old high school) and was with DJ when he announced his ND commitment, was offered by and committed to ND this week. He had no other major-conference scholarship offers. Read into this what you will.
  8. Nothing Kyle said is untrue. No matter if it's part of the long-term plan, this Cubs team was/is an absolute train wreck.

    Trade offer

As someone who just overpaid to fill a RB hole (see an earlier thread), I don't think I like that deal for you.
  10. K-State/WVU is the tentative Fox primetime game for that week. I suppose whether it remained there would probably depend at least partially on this weekend. The official time should be announced next Monday.
  11. The way the league does schedules makes your record almost irrelevant when it comes to difficulty. Hell, New England went to the Super Bowl and they got one of the easiest schedules in the league. It's not irrelevant. Having bad teams in your division is one help, and the division rotation schedule is helpful too. But you do still face teams that finished in the same "spot" as you did in other divisions. Next season, the Saints get the NFC West and the AFC East. With the exception of the Pats and Niners, there's some very beatable teams in there. It's 2 games out of 16 that are determined by division finish, and with the NFL the way it is these days, playing the team who placed the same as you in another division might as well be a lottery ticket. SF plays the Saints because both placed 1st last year. Tampa Bay plays the Vikings this year because both were last in 2011.

  13. That 1 team was SD, who finished 8-8. Atlanta is clearly not going to allow 8-8 to be good enough for the playoffs.
  14. It's too bad the Packers are cursed so their fans can't enjoy this win.
  15. Billy Cundiff just missed a chip shot with the Skins up 8 in Tampa. He is so terrible.
  16. [expletive] choking dogs. Have fun picking in the top 10 for the rest of eternity.

  18. More terrible missed replay calls in Stillwater.
  19. Bucky needs to stop running Ball directly into the left guard. Right guard this time. It's not working Bielema you dummy. Try something else. You should be loving this. Every B1G loss by Wisconsin gets Purdue closer to Indy.
  20. Several do. The kids love it.
  21. There is a gulf between Alabama and anyone else in the SEC. There's a gulf between Alabama and everyone else in the country. True, but I don't see any other great - or even close to great - team in the SEC. LSU might be great, but other than their demolition of UW they haven't done anything to show it.
  22. There is a gulf between Alabama and anyone else in the SEC.
  23. What's the rule on that? His foot appeared to be right on the line when he jumped but when he released the ball, the ball and his body were both past the line of scrimmage. The QB's entire body must be past the line. If his back foot was on the line, it's a legal pass.
  24. Baylor/WVU is a track meet.
  25. I'm not looking forward to multiple Alabama/LSU games again this year. I hope Oregon can stay undefeated but they'll probably find a way to lose. Have you seen Florida State's schedule? Going undefeated shouldn't be a problem, and if there are any other options, the Bama/LSU thing won't happen again.
