  1. He also discussed how ironic it would be if the score held at 32-28 without explaining why.
  2. Without looking, I can guarantee it, because teams only started playing 12 games every year in 2006.
  3. I wish ND could play IU this year instead of last. Irish would probably get creamed but it would be interesting to see how they'd measure up. Already chalking up a win against Purdue? :D Haha, not at all, just would love the test of IU. The Purdue game should be a fun one.

  5. Yeah, I can see it's because Georgia would have an extra loss (to AL this week), but the 3rd place SEC team would fairly regularly make the playoff then while the SEC Championship game loser wouldn't make it. Right? The SEC has held 21 championship games. Both participants have been ranked in the top-4 going into the game three times (08 and 09 with Florida and Bama both times, and this year). In 08, Bama was undefeated and dropped to No. 4 in the BCS after the loss (and still made a BCS game). Florida was No. 4 going in and would not have made the playoff but would still have made a BCS game as the next best SEC team was a 9-3 Georgia. In 09, Florida lost and dropped to No. 5 but still made a BCS game. It's entirely possible they still get selected over No. 3 Cincy or No. 4 TCU in a playoff. I assume Alabama would have been in the same boat (both were undefeated) had they lost the SEC title game. The next best SEC team was 9-3 LSU. Only three other times has an SEC team ranked in the top-4 lost the SEC title game (94, 01 and 05). In 94, No. 3 Alabama lost to Florida and dropped to No. 6. Auburn was ranked in the top-10 but ineligible from postseason play. In 2001, No. 2 Tennessee lost the SEC title game to LSU and was left out of the BCS to a Florida team it beat 34-32 on the road. In 05, No. 3 LSU lost to Georgia and was left out of the BCS in favor of Notre Dame. So seeing as it's happened twice in 21 years, no, I don't think it will happen every year. Thanks, that's a lot more helpful. Every year was an exaggeration, but that makes 3 out of 5 years? That's not counting last year where Alabama and LSU couldn't play each other in the conference championship game but if LSU had lost to Georgia would they have ended up in a hypothetical Final 4 playoff? They were far enough ahead they probably would've I guess. LSU was being discussed as a title-game lock last year regardless of the SEC title game, so I'm guessing they'd have slipped into the top 4.
  6. It's stupid that Georgia beat Florida on the road and both teams have one loss yet Georgia would be the team left out. Florida is better off being in 3rd place in the SEC than 1st or 2nd. They can sit at home with a spot in the 4 team playoff already locked up while Georgia and Alabama (AHEAD OF THEM IN THE STANDINGS) have to play for one spot. How does that make sense? If conferences are going to have blatant money grabs (which is all these championship games are and all they've ever been), then the teams in them have to accept the consequences of those games. Florida has a better resume than Georgia going into this Saturday. Georgia has played two teams with winning records. Two.
  7. The hell of it is for the basketball-only Big East schools like Georgetown, Marquette, St. John's et al, there's nowhere else to go. They still get more TV money by riding it out with SMU, Houston, Tulane and East Carolina than they do splitting off and forming a basketball-only conference. It's a shame.

    NFL Week 11

You guys ruined the #1 pick bowl next week in KC with all those fumbles. Carolina was all set to collapse again and give you the game.
  9. As conferences continue expanding, more and more conference title games are going to feature teams that won the schedule lottery. The B1G is going to have the same thing happen once Maryland and Rutgers join.
  10. Zero chance of this happening, but if Theo or any other major-league front office type WEREN'T at least inquiring about Stanton, it'd be a fireable offense.
  11. Rooting for the complete opposite, even if Kent State probably would get pantsed by FSU in the Orange Bowl. (Sorry Flames.)

  13. And BC's Frank Spaziani fired as well.
  14. Danny Hope fired too, per GoldandBlack.com.
  15. NCSU's Tom O'Brien and Auburn's Gene Chizik both fired today, per several reporters on Twitter.
  16. it also gets old listening to people from new jersey crow about the fighting irish or the cowboys. Usually when people post things on Facebook I don't want to read, I unsubscribe from their feeds.
  17. By this standard, A) no one is allowed to become a college sports fan until age 18, or B) everyone who picks a team must go to that college regardless of academics, finances or majors or their fandom is invalid. Please kill this stupid topic of whining and bitching forever. i'm not saying that nobody should root for notre dame, but generally people root for a college team because they attended that school, their parents attended it, or they grew up near it. nobody from arizona or nevada is becoming a rutgers fan just for the hell of it. yet i have loads of friends from south jersey who went to college somewhere in the east, then settled back in the philly area, and they're notre dame fans. though it is fun to see how easy it is to rile up you and GR even on a night when your team made the national championship game. It's at least the second time this season people have played the "Why oh why do people who don't have affiliation with Notre Dame root for them?" thing for no real reason. It gets old.

  19. I predict that over the next 5 weeks Alabama morphs into something in between indestructible robot cyborgs and Greek gods superior to Zeus himself.
  20. God bless you, Lane Kiffin.
  21. Theo Riddick is an absolute animal, and even if you don't want him to run it, give it to someone else. That USC front seven has nothing left.
  22. Looked like he turned his ankle on replay. Could be wrong but I'll guess he'll be back.
  23. As much as I am sick of the SEC at this point, it probably shouldn't. Florida has some good wins (A&M and FSU on the road plus LSU at home) while Oregon has beaten only 1 team slated to be ranked tomorrow (although it would be 2 if USC did win).
  24. I might pull an IMB! and stab heroin into my forehead.
  25. The lowest-ranked team in the BCS is eliminated from the three-way tie, then it reverts to head to head, so it probably wouldn't be final until the BCS was released. Most likely it would be Oregon State since Stanford would probably fall behind the Beavers in the BCS. ETA: Or I'm stupid and Stanford beat both of the Oregons.
