Come on. It's melodramatic, I know, but giving conference-employed refs the ability to throw out other players on obvious judgment calls, when millions of dollars are at stake for those same conferences in some of these games - even if there's nothing sleazy going on, you'd think they'd at least try to avoid the appearance of impropriety. And aside from that, it's stupid to try to assess 'targeting' intent. A good many of these hits look worse than they are because of instinctive movements the offensive player makes before contact. There's really no way to avoid that.
