  1. He may not be a good defensive outfielder, but damn if he won't run all over the place trying to be.
  2. Of all the people to hate on for the stretches, at least he's an actual Cubs fan. A tool, but a Cubs fan.
  3. Nice throw from DeJesus to get Puig
  4. I don't hate any other franchise besides STL and to a much lesser extent the Marlins. Individual players or managers (Dusty) might annoy me on other teams but not really enough for it to carry over to the whole team.
  5. I still hate that 2012 and 2013 were essentially punted, but I have to give a thumbs-up to basically everything else. Hard to do much better than the FO did this last off-season and got a nice return for Garza.
  6. Coaches poll: 1 Alabama (58) 2 Ohio St. (3) 3 Oregon 4 Stanford 5 Georgia 6 Texas A&M (1) 7 South Carolina 8 Clemson 9 Louisville 10 Florida 11 Notre Dame 12 Florida St. 13 LSU 14 Oklahoma St. 15 Texas 16 Oklahoma 17 Michigan 18 Nebraska 19 Boise St. 20 TCU 21 UCLA 22 Northwestern 23 Wisconsin 24 USC 25 Oregon St.
  7. Rizzo should have 3 - he hit a rocket to left his last AB, just right at Bianchi Bianchi's playing SS... Gindl in LF And now you all know how closely I'm paying attention. :-)

  9. No one's gonna jump on this? Also, why would the Cardinals have an interest in Navarro? Molina on the DL. But no deal. According to multiple reports, STL wouldn't meet the Cubs' asking price.
  10. They do, but at the moment there's only one such channel. Wouldn't be enough for a full load of baseball. Aren't the Cubs and Sox typically on at different times? With all the night games Wrigley is adding, inasmuch as that's true now, it probably won't be much in the future (except for Fridays).
  11. Why? Norris? As much as some of their starters are overachieving, you aren't going to replace, say Locke, with Norris. Is he an upgrade over their other guys? i didn't mean norris, i meant the fact that they didn't do anything at all. they had areas where they could have improved, and a good farm system. i'm not saying they should have traded any of their top guys, but it feels like they should have done at least something. None of the other major offensive pieces are being moved either, and I have no doubt the Cubs are asking for the moon for Schierholtz (as they should be). It's a big-time sellers' market.

  13. What I'm worried about is that they would seem to have no leverage...where are they gonna go if WGN doesn't ante up? Will the other locals be bidding? Couldn't they just move all of the games to Comcast? Would create logistical nightmares, especially in April when Cubs, Sox, Hawks and Bulls are all playing.
  14. Padres closing in on Ian Kennedy per Rosenthal.
  15. Curious of the justification. Wonder if we will find out.
  16. IsoD was .067 going into that AB. Not remarkable in and of itself, but didn't he have 1 walk in the first 25 games or something?
  17. I knew this would be a long inning the second JD said it shaped up as an easy one.
  18. Coaches' poll comes out Thursday, while the AP preseason poll comes out Aug. 17. I say it every single damn year but this is the longest off-season ever. Give me football.
  19. Travis Wood is some kind of man.
  20. Two massacred flyouts and one normal flyout. SHUTDOWN CLOSER! Nice win, boys.
