  1. Beyond sick of the nut bar finding his way on base against us so often
  2. Holy crap hard contact! It's a beautiful thing
  3. Glad to see we got not crappy Taillon for like a week or whatever that was
  4. Goldschmidt hits what would've been an easy inning ending DP ball right after STL steals 2nd to eliminate the double play, and a bloop hit adds a 2nd run. So a very similar script to seemingly every damn game in this stadium
  5. 5.77 ERA and our guys get the ball out of the infield once the first time through with horsefeathers instant double plays both times someone reached. Seems about right
  6. If your local FOX isn't airing the game, you should be able to watch it on MLB.TV. They fixed that issue several years ago. I haven't tried it on the newest version of the app but I assume it's still the case.
  7. Completely agree, most of the time when guys aren't hacking it offensively you can almost tell just by watching them, but Morel is pretty much doing everything he usually does (and when it comes to K/BB he's actually doing it better), and he's just not being rewarded yet.
  8. Sometimes I wonder if the people running college sports had actually treated it like an amateur enterprise - not looting other conferences for no reason other than TV money, not expanding the postseason left and right for no reason other than TV money, not paying administrators and coaches ludicrous amounts of money, etc - if the courts would've let them keep pretending it was an amateur enterprise, or if all of this would've happened anyway.
  9. The only thing that comes close is a bullpen that can't hold a lead of any size and we already did that dance for like 6 weeks too (been better lately of course)
  10. FanGraphs wrote an article this week about them being cooked, and my first thought was "You horsefeathers idiots just woke Satan up"
  11. Players reach the max pension amount at 10 years of service time.
  12. Good lord Happ finally hits one on the screws and it goes directly to a glove.
  13. That was some gangster horsefeathers from Leiter. Just impeccable execution of pitches.
  14. That's a good question and I don't know the answer, but he's got something like 8 weeks or so of service time at this point and will likely be back again this season eventually. I doubt that was a huge factor.
  15. Nah I'm sure this time he'll be back (I'll plan to copy paste this one for the next week)
  16. I'm not concerned about Morel really at all. I'm not concerned about the M&M middle infield disaster because I never thought much of either of them in the first place. Hendricks probably needs to go and that's depressing. Busch is concerning but it's hard to know what to make of him. I have no idea what to do with Happ or the catchers, if the Cubs cared much about the bats from their catchers they wouldn't have practically celebrated Contreras leaving.
  17. With Dansby coming off the IL and Vasquez coming up, would it be too much to hope for both of those train wrecks to be out the door?
  18. Boog is almost always off on Sundays because he does the ESPN Sunday night game on the radio and JD pops in and out a lot, often on road trips.
  19. And a bad throw to home plate yesterday might be the only reason they didn't get swept.
  20. There are fair quarrels to make with Jed but complaining about us not signing impact players in the offseason when he signed the literal best pitcher in baseball so far and also signed our current best hitter this offseason seems very strange.
  21. Unable to watch today so I'm seeing exactly as much good baseball as everybody else in this thread is
  22. San Diego is currently in the WC3 spot with a losing record, so 80-82 wins will probably keep them in the race.
  23. I have no idea how to look up 'opposing team BABIP rankings' but if the Cubs aren't in the top 2 I'll eat my socks.
  24. I would say it's quite optimistic of you to assume the bullpen won't give anything up but yeah, locking it down the day Skenes strikes out 24 in a perfect game seems about right
