  1. No, Fox blackouts are a thing of the past.
  2. In a lame attempt to be fair, there's some Twitter scuttlebutt that part of this is related to that. I don't know the particulars but evidently they're investigating the assault further due to a Title IX complaint. ETA: Well, now there are sources saying Winston wasn't honest with FSU about this incident and that's why the suspension, so maybe that's just wrong as usual.
  3. Regardless of whether some teams are overrated or not, I can't imagine that it has ever happened in the modern era that HALF of the Top Ten teams were from the same DIVISION within a conference. Well, there was no such thing as a 7-team division until the SEC expanded to 14, and with a 6-team division (which there was no such thing as until 1992), it's essentially impossible, so yeah.
  4. I thought it was worth checking the standings to see if there's a justification for objectively making the Cubs' defense worse for a game, and FWIW, we're one game ahead of Houston and two ahead of the Red Sox right now.
  5. Tampa's defense scored 11 points. They gave up 56. I know they had a pick-6, but that seems stupid.
  6. If the SEC West were a conference (and it might as well be, with 7 teams it's almost as large as most of the conferences used to be), it would be by far the best in the country. The SEC East is far less good.
  7. Can't speak to the others, but South Bend definitely wanted the Cubs. They wanted a more local MLB affiliate than Arizona and from what I understand the Cubs were the only MLB team in the Midwest that was available.
  8. Arrieta's going to get one of these at some point.
  9. I dropped Knile Davis in a 14-team league because Jeffery looked to be out Sunday and I wanted to grab another starter (in this case, Malcom Floyd). I ended up starting Delanie Walker as a flex instead at the last second and it paid off huge, but with Charles now hurt, Knile Davis becomes a huge asset (exactly why I drafted him originally) and I dropped him for someone I didn't even play. Little chance of me getting him back because I'm probably going to be 2-0 after tonight and therefore have a low waiver priority. Bummer.
  10. Anytime you start talking about resting easy knowing something in CFB, it gets turned on its head. I'd bet a hefty chunk of change that at least one of those three, and probably more, doesn't win their league.

  12. The clock hit 0 more than milliseconds before the snap in that particular game, but yes, there's some sort of 'justifiable lag time' reason that was given at the time as to why it's not a delay of game right off the top. It generally has to be pretty clear.
  13. It is extremely awkward to root for Hardy to perform on the field right now. I wish Carolina would act because they as an organization look cowardly in the midst of all that's happening right now in the league.
  14. I'm in a 14-team baseball and football league with mostly the same group of people (13 have teams in both leagues, there's one one-sport owner in each). We allow any trades unless there's evidence of nefarious behavior. As our commissioner put it, we don't see the need to legislate against stupidity.
  15. Well, I'll be benching Torrey Smith from now on. I'm not sure the Ravens know he's on their roster.
  16. Seriously I hope this doesn't mess him up in the head. I know he was a lot older but I swear Sammy was never the same after he got nailed. IIRC, he was still awesome Sammy before that (SSS). When he came back, it seemed like he started standing a foot further off the plate than he used to. He wasn't exactly ripping it up immediately prior to getting hit, but Jason Heyward has never been as good as he was in 2012 after getting hit in the face, either.
  17. Carolina's schedule gets absolutely brutal in October, so this Lions game is a big one. Should be a fun matchup with Cam vs Stafford and Stafford vs Panthers defense.
  18. posts like these mystify me "i hate this guy, i won't specify why, so reward him with clicks!" Sometimes venting is worth the additional 40 cents Clay Travis might make off a column. The good news is most of us know Clay Travis is a jackass and therefore won't click on it anyway.
  19. I like Floyd out of those three. I've got a WR backlog. I can start 4 of these 6: Maclin vs IND Hilton vs PHI Cooks vs CLE T Smith vs PIT Hopkins vs OAK T Williams vs TEN
  20. LOL at 'became available today'. What a douchebag.
  21. Hahahahahahaha what a scumbag move. It's such a blatant news dump that I almost admire it. PSU also will have full scholarships back next football season.
  22. The NCAA announced a few minutes ago that Penn State's postseason eligibility has been restored effective immediately.
  23. Next week might be worse. Something like half the current top 25 has a bye the week after this one.

  25. I've gone back and forth on Brian Kelly more than anyone I know, but kicking the [expletive] out of Michigan 31-0 to end the series should keep him in my good books for a long while.
