  1. Really? Their fanbase has a largely impeccable reputation. Every time they're mentioned on ND boards, someone posts about how great their fans were when they visited South Bend in 2000, and my cousin, a Sparty alum, passed along similar sentiments when he visited Nebraska for their game there in (I believe) 2011.
  2. I don't think that's the worst hire in the world for Nebraska, but it is curious. That said, if you can win 6-7 games a year at a place with literally no history, in a better conference, than you can probably do well at Nebraska. Better than 9 wins a year? Doubt it. But I never figured the Pelini firing was only based on record.
  3. Grantland's Andrew Sharp wrote a great article about how great the 4-team playoff is and why going bigger would be a mistake.
  4. He's the Vegas favorite. Makes all the sense in the world if he wants to go to make the jump now.
  5. To answer your second question, I believe Michigan has to pay him $1M less in buyout if they fire him after Jan. 1 - not that they will wait that long.
  6. I'm never going to forgive Andrew Luck for not declaring for the 2011 draft, no matter how smart it was to avoid Carolina.
  7. Nebraska was pretty much ranked higher in every preseason poll than they ever finished. And the alumni and fans hated him. Probably the single biggest dick in college sports. Yeah, I think this had more to do with him being a dick than anything. He's a good coach, just a psycho. You have to be a great coach to get away with being a psycho at most places.

  9. Vikings hadn't blocked a punt for a TD in 28 years and blocked 2 in the first half for TDs against Carolina, one in punt safe. Both my football games of the weekend went off before halftime. What a [expletive] train wreck. Enjoy the unemployment line, Rivera, you piece of crap.
  10. I'm not the biggest Brian Kelly fan, but the injuries/suspensions have destroyed this team. USC dressed fewer scholarship players then ND did today. And backups should be good enough to beat Northwestern and lose by less than 35 to USC. Even Ty Willingham didn't lose by 35 to USC, and those teams were breaking every NCAA rule in sight. That's not how it works. When 15 of the 22 positions have a freshman or sophomore in the two-deep, "talent" is not enough to beat teams in power conferences. At least we know what the excuse will be this year. When Kelly goes 8-4 against an awful schedule next year, I wonder what it will be.
  11. Thank you for keeping them out of the playoff. What a great year for the Rebels.

  13. I've never seen teams repeatedly [expletive] up in service of an opponent like with FSU this year.
  14. Our first 22 has as much NFL talent as anyone but we have a mediocre coach. I can't decide who I dislike more - our moronic fan base for excusing this incompetence, or the national media for acting like suggesting Brian Kelly is a mediocre football coach is sacrilegious.
  15. USC, a mediocre football team, is going to beat Notre Dame by 31. But, you know, injuries. Not Kelly's fault. Injuries.
  16. I think they have to honor head to head if Baylor beats KSU and ties them for the league title, but for the moment, I've had TCU in for several weeks now and I'm not sure why so many others don't. The lack of a Big XII championship game is going to screw them I'll believe it when I see it, but if we come back here in two weeks and Ohio State is in the playoff over either of them, that'll definitely be why.

  18. I used to play in a league with hundredth-points. It was completely ridiculous. Yup....I'm in a league with hundredth-points. I once lost a matchup by 0.08 points. The only way to even get hundreth points is with a QBs passing yards I believe. I'm in the same type of scoring, and you're right, only QBs can get hundredths (unless someone else completes a pass I guess). They get .04 points per yard compared to 0.1 for everyone else.
  19. People tried to discredit the Cardinals back in 2006 when they won the WS even though they had only 83 wins. It didn't work as they didn't care. Barely anyone remembers how terrible Arizona was the year they got to the Super Bowl (9-7, but I believe they were outscored for the season by a relatively significant margin). They only remember how great that Super Bowl was. In the long run, most people really only remember the banner.
  20. I'm probably just sick of Rose's [expletive], but I'm fine with it. Thibs wouldn't be human if he weren't at least a little annoyed at this saga, especially when he coaches guys like Taj and Noah who will go out there and play almost no matter what.
  21. The Saints play Pittsburgh next week, and the Falcons get Arizona. Carolina is at Minnesota. Very decent chance all three teams lose those too.
  22. Carolina, which has one win in the last 10 [expletive] weeks, is about to be a half a game out of first place.
  23. First time for an SEC division. The 2008 ACC Atlantic division had all 6 teams go to bowls.
  24. Agreed. O/U for Nelson Agholor is about 155 yards this week. You guys should get a Myles Jack to shut Agholar down one-on-one. If we had one, he would've either cheated on a test, reneged on his letter of intent because of a sick grandmother that's never mentioned again, gotten whipped by his hometown girlfriend and transferred, broken two limbs at once, or some other such nonsense by now.
  25. Agreed. O/U for Nelson Agholor is about 155 yards this week. Maybe if ND and PSU lose this week (lol..."maybe"), they can face off in the Tampax Pearl Bowl in downtown Gary, IN You jest, but a Pinstripe Bowl matchup between the two is a legitimate possibility.
