  1. Mississippi as a state getting a hard slap of reality.
  2. Marrone's opt-out, which was apparently triggered by the ownership change, guarantees him his 2015 pay of $4 million without any offset for his next job. I'd argue the crazy move is not to opt out if you have that kind of clause.
  3. Hey. We'll be in the 2nd round with a .500 record (8-8-1), thank you very much.
  4. Totally didn't see this coming. Good for Gary Patterson for getting the Frogs fired up.
  5. Schefter went to Michigan, I highly doubt he's rooting for Harbaugh to not go there.
  6. It's not as much peaking at the right time as it is lindley starting a road playoff game Lindley definitely helps, but if the garbage team from the middle of the season or even from a month ago had snuck in somehow I'd still bet Arizona would win. The fact that the defense suddenly morphed back into the 2013 unit at the beginning of December is more confidence-inducing than Lindley.
  7. Narduzzi going to Pitt, and this looking like a done deal has me somewhat down about football in Michigan. Hope we beat Baylor, or this may e.d up being a sad week. Clearly, if you're a major program in the Midwest, the answer is to royally [expletive] something up like Tattoogate or hiring Brady Hoke so you can fall ass over tea kettle into one of the elite coaches in the sport.
  8. As awful as they've been most of the year, I feel extremely confident Carolina will beat Arizona. Peaking at the right time. They'll get utterly destroyed by Seattle or the Packers, but still.
  9. Aaand I lost on that facemask penalty on Thomas that most of Twitter felt was a bad call.
  10. I need 32 points from Thomas and Anderson. I'm only even alive thanks to Luck's massive [expletive]. Would have it in the bag if I'd started clearly inferior Ryan Tannehill over Matt Ryan. Meh.
  11. Yes. Each team has won it three times in its current alignment and never twice in a row.
  12. We could if the Saints lose and Falcons and Panthers tie. Panthers clinch with a tie regardless of the Saints. They would still be a six-win NFC South champ. Yes, but we would be the champ regardless of what the Saints did. UMF's post implied otherwise.
  13. We could if the Saints lose and Falcons and Panthers tie. Panthers clinch with a tie regardless of the Saints.
  14. I'm going to lose in the finals because I didn't start Ryan Tannehill (35-some points) over Matt Ryan (19) and was forced to run Stedman [expletive] Bailey out because of all my WR injuries. Sometimes I wonder about fantasy...
  15. First place. Beat Atlanta. Go Panthers.
  16. I did a mock BCS bowl selection exercise under the old system and assumed Mississippi St. would get the nod over TCU based on travel. Maybe not so much.
  17. BRB, teaching myself to be a catcher so I can somehow convince an ace pitcher that he has to pitch to me and only me.
  18. Here's a fun question to be asking in the fantasy football finals: Should I start C.J. Spiller, Hakeem Nicks or Stedman Bailey in my last Flex spot, assuming Hilton and D Hopkins are both out? I have Harry Douglas penciled into the other Flex spot because I'm presuming Julio Jones won't go. And yes, I'm going to lose no matter what I do here.
  19. It means Carolina has the 3rd best QB in the division. Also I presume means he's likely to not become 4th best in his division because of a rookie if he's 9th overall. Ah, that must've been his point. There are an awful lot of bad QBs in the league if the guy I watched flounder against Minnesota a few weeks ago is in the top 10.
  20. Should I have any idea what those numbers mean?
  21. Keep Mariota out of the NFC South, please. Carolina already has only the 3rd-best QB in the division, I don't want to make it 4th.
  22. The 2004 team was awesome and fun, albeit at times infuriating. If I hated every Cubs team that collapsed at the end, I wouldn't like many teams.
  23. God, that is so stupidly hot take-y from Haugh. Is that the kind of crap that leads to getting columnist jobs?
  24. #firstworldproblems, but after barely advancing to the finals thanks to Aaron Rodgers' stink-bomb, I now have a situation where I'm headed into the finals with: Isaiah Crowell, who can't get anything going if Manziel is terrible Nuke Hopkins, who now has no QB T.Y. Hilton, who has some sort of hamstring injury Jeremy Maclin, who hasn't been nearly as good since Foles got hurt Going against a guy who has Le'Veon Bell, Andrew Luck, and Dez Bryant, as well as (if he ever wakes up) Jimmy Graham. Don't love my chances to say the least.
