  1. That 1st throw he made was a wow even though it was dropped. Looked outstanding from what I saw later too. Looks like you have yourself quite a find.
  2. That Stanford performance was puketastic. Northwestern certainly deserves credit for putting Stanford in position to gutless-weenie themselves out of the game, and that's exactly what David Shaw did.
  3. Well it's not like he backed out of a home and home with a team like, oh, Michigan State, to continue to play so called neutral games. Wait never mind that's exactly what happened
  4. Perfect day for us if the Giants do indeed lose.
  5. Let's see Arrieta get the Vander Meer
  6. PJ Fleck's shtick is "Row the Boat". It's been all over their jerseys and gear ever since he arrived.
  7. SMU really fudged up that last possession, though. Gotta think that will loom large. Either way, though, Chad Morris looks like a home run hire early for the Mustangs.
  8. Am I the only one that would rather us get STL in a 1-gamer than flip the home field of a coin-flip game? Or is my abject hatred for STL clouding my judgment here?
  9. I think it's the one you can best point to and say Javy Baez will make it. 2 singles, neither pulled, a bases-loaded walk on a tough 3-2 pitch, and a bomb. It's definitely nice to see.
  10. Um, he'd never gotten a hit prior to this season, it was discussed at length, so that's not a surprise at all
  11. I'd rather get STL in a 1-game series than a 5-game, so I'm not rooting for them.
  12. Off topic, but they won't for a while because ND canceled the back half of what was to be a four-game series to make room for a series with Georgia. That annoyed me because glutton for punishment that I am, I didn't see why they couldn't just play both.
  13. Aramis is almost certainly the 2nd-best Cub I've seen in my conscious lifetime and by virtue of the teams on which he played, probably had more big hits than any Cub ever. Any honor he gets is good with me.
  14. Missing the STL series is suboptimal. Then again, we're playing the Pirates 7 more times and would probably have to lose several of those for them to catch STL, so it probably doesn't matter a ton.
  15. That's the reputation. Harbaugh ultimately succeeding at Michigan is as likely a bet as anything in college football, but they won't be good this year
  16. NOLA is an Arkansas fan, we have multiple Texas fans, and there's any number of other team's fans that I'm sure no one has mentioned yet.
  17. I can't stand the Patriots or Brady, and it was fun to watch them play the righteous indignation card when they almost certainly cheated, again, but it never made sense that Brady was punished so harshly for it.
  18. I'm pretty disappointed no one posted some snark about the Nationals pixie dust after that Ryan Zimmerman home run
  19. Well, if we're in the NLDS, we're playing STL, so yeah
  20. It's the ones where kids are surprised by a returning military parent that I'm a sucker for... As neat as those are, I have to imagine the surprise has to be negated a bit when they're dragged onto the field beforehand.
  21. Ok, I'm not going to freak out until there's a reason to, but Schwarber going down would be all kinds of terrible.
  22. It was bound to happen. Even bad teams win series. A couple of pitches go differently (and no Castro errors) and we might have swept the series. Basically what I'm saying is that it sucks to lose the series against a team thats been terrible, but there isn't anything I saw that changes my long term outlook. The biggest issue is that the back of our rotation sucks and we don't really have any options to try to fix it. It almost certainly won't keep us out of the playoffs, but in a 5 game LDS, you will probably have at least 2 games started by the back end of the rotation. Wed - Arrieta (WC) Friday - Lester (normal rest) Saturday - Hammel or Hendricks (normal rest) Monday - Arrieta (+1 day rest) Tuesday - Whoever doesn't start between Hammel or Hendricks in Game 2 Thursday - Lester (+1 day rest) I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Lester go in that hypothetical Tuesday slot. If we were down 2-1 it'd be damn near a certainty.
  23. Yeah, Maddon should get dinged that run, it was stupid to send Hammel back out. Luckily Frazier bunted or else this could've been worse.
  24. Hammel's not pitching anymore today I expect, not with the beef of Cincy's order up next inning
  25. Bryant just saved Hammel's ass from another run.
