  1. And if Arrieta were like the 200th example of this type of [expletive] benefiting the Cubs I'd gleefully point it out
  2. Lance Lynn never had a full season FIP below 3.50 at any minor league level. Just some food for thought in his 2nd straight year of ace level pitching
  3. Broxton hasn't been good in years so of course he gets 2 strikeouts to end that inning.
  4. Don't worry, clutch strikeouts are on the way
  5. These 92 hopper hits are getting annoying
  6. If the neighborhood play exists, and we know it does because we've been screwed by it this year, then this isn't reviewable (even though Russell obviously didn't touch 2nd). Go away Mattingly.
  7. I can understand passively being ok with them winning in this particular circumstance but those words should never appear on this board
  8. Well that's not necessarily true at all.
  9. Also, this Tweet was literally sent just over an hour ago. LOL EDIT: And apparently deleted. Anyway, it was Beckman expressing excitement over the coming season. [tweet]https://twitter.com/coachbeckman/status/637317588285042688[/tweet]
  10. Reports are that they found some big-time player mistreatment issues from the allegations that came out this summer. [tweet] [/tweet]
  11. For all the justified talk about St. Louis' LOB% (which is actually down slightly from 2 weeks ago, from 81.5 to 80.4, though that would still be an MLB record), I didn't realize second place in that stat - distantly - is Pittsburgh. The Cubs are 12th.
  12. Last I was aware it was still 2-3-2
  13. How much worse is Schlitter than Rodney really? What a silly acquisition
  14. At least we held onto those precious prospects We didn't need to make a big move, we just needed to not acquire someone whose numbers basically SCREAMED "I am about to get crushed into oblivion and you would be [expletive] morons to give me important innings"
  15. [expletive] this. Would rather have stood pat than acquire another ticking time bomb regression machine.
  16. He's not a terrible hitting pitcher and with Herrera on deck, bunting wouldn't have done us much good in terms of added scoring probability.
  17. At least we're finally pitching Haren in a fly ball friendly park.
  18. This game would be far less annoying if St. Louis would EVER [expletive] LOSE A GAME
  19. Eh, I'd rather just keep bludgeoning everybody and have it locked up by then. If that does come to pass, I'd say you celebrate when the magic number flips to 0.
  20. Todd Walker damn near had one back in 04. Needed a double in his last AB of a game in Houston and hit a home run about 4 feet over the wall instead
  21. My prep sports coverage started this week, so I'm quite pleased to get an extra week of being able to watch the games before that goes down the pooper the rest of the season.
  22. Recent addition to the awards circuit, given to the best overall defender in each league.
  23. We've discussed it repeatedly before, but they're on pace to blow away the season record in that stat. Something like a 1.5% margin over the current all-time record.
