Having Rizzo on our team is a luxury. I haven't felt so calm about a Cub hitter in big spots in a long, long time. (Schwarber is in this category too, obvi) -
I'm sure there has been another player like Bryant whose only real weakness at the plate was an inexplicable inability to consistently make contact on hittable pitches, but I don't know of one.

Grichuk just went to the DL and Heyward left tonight's game hurt. If their LOB% luck ever turns the other way they could have a rough stretch.

Cubs/Pirates is the only one of those 3 that is likely to be an impact game for both teams, so that makes perfect sense.

My two deadline nights at my newspaper job are Tuesday and Friday. I'm very glad the wild-card game wasn't on Tuesday and I sincerely hope it becomes a major issue for me that the NLDS begins on Friday.

You certainly don't have to complain about their luck (you're a better person for not doing so), but the Cubs have encountered negative variance and poor luck plenty of times in recent years, so it could easily be said it's swinging the other way this year. The same is not true of STL, which just had a ludicrous BABIP and BA w/RISP propel them to a World Series two years ago.
