    Not if the Cubs can get 2 out of 3 this series. Even if we do that, they still clinch if whoever's next on the elimination totem pole loses a game.

    Yeah, if Arrieta is my #1 surprise, then Schwarber is #2, how [expletive] awesome Bryant is at all the non-hitting aspects of baseball has probably been #3.

    There's a wide gulf between 'very good' and 'legitimate argument to be considered the best starting pitcher in all of baseball this year'. I expected him to be good, I did not expect him to be silly-dominant.

    I see St. Louis is wasting no time putting to bed the idea of being 3 out at the end of the weekend.

    Schwarber was and is a stunner, and Russell was at the time, but the #1 surprise for me has to be what Arrieta has done. He's been unbelievable.

    Even though the latter is unlikely, it's crazy that we could still potentially top 2008. Probably in large part because of how shitty we've been since then, I've built that team up in my head to be even more of an unstoppable dong-crushing monstrosity than they were, and this team is in the same stratosphere. So wild.

    I don't love that Hendricks is struggling, but as regular-season games go, this one's pretty important as it could set us up to potentially surpass the Pirates next weekend. If Joe wants to go for it, with expanded rosters, let's do it.

    Schwarber has been striking out a bunch it seems like. Not particularly concerning, but would be nice if he got red hot again.

    We do have three good pitchers. We only have two great ones. I guess I should say 3 pitchers we had reason to feel confident in against playoff lineups. Hendricks scares me, even when he's pitching well it's just so hard for a guy without intimidating stuff to sustain.

    If we had 3 good pitchers instead of 2, with our dongsmen, I'd feel so much better about our chances in October.

    He definitely looked to be slowing down, but Snider played the ball so poorly Jones had no choice but to send him.

    I kiddin' Hendricks, I kiddin'. Hendricks is our 3rd best starter right now, if he gets hurt you're throwing Hammel, who's been bad for 2 months now, into hypothetical NLDS starts. No thanks. (I know, you're kidding. But Hendricks is more important than he might appear.)
