    We're not keeping him anyway and his job is to throw baseballs, while Joe's is to manage the game. He should suck it up. He will pitch outside the 9th in a close game in the playoffs if Joe has a brain, so he might as well get used to it

    He has nothing. Too bad Willson bailed him out a bit with a bad two-strike swing, but he's not long for this game.

    In the team competition it was just insane how much better the US was than everybody else. Just near-perfection one after the other. Biles had a really good beam routine that was probably the worst thing any of the gymnasts did because she shuffled her feet a couple of times.

    Oh, it's going to be someone important. STL won't let an unintentional pitch that injured an expensive, unproductive player go by without going after someone important. It'll be one of Bryzzo.

    Szczur leadoff against a RHP is weird but I really don't care. Just make sure everyone knows to recoil at any inside pitch.

    Just give Bryant and Rizzo the day off. The second it happened GRB ppl were wondering about retaliation, and saying Maddon was smirking... I wouldn't call it unbelievable, but... Let's call it remarkable how every single freaking time someone gets hit the BFIB start talking up retaliation. Never mind that it was the 10th inning of a tie game...

    I'm sure Heyward's sparkling numbers against Nolasco over his career means he's going to put on a glorious display of line shots tonight.

    I totally understand his being pissed because he is better than Coghlan, but it's not like Tommy La Stella is the best player to ever have to get sent to AAA for lack of other possibilities. Really sort of incredible how much of an horsefeathers he's being.

    Rosenthal and Heyman both tweeted that Fielder is being declared 'medically disabled' and unable to play as opposed to retirement, so that's why he's still going to get paid. Half his remaining money is apparently being covered by insurance, so the Rangers aren't being completely left up a creek.

    I was practically salivating at the prospect of facing STL last year because I knew we were much better than them by the time the series happened. I still think we are much better, but there's definitely a 'just don't screw it up' flavor to it now that we would be considered favorites in that series. And also, I just don't want those bastards to make it to the playoffs.

    I've never heard of a game starting at 11pm ET The MLB TV listing on Verizon has the block for this game starting at 11 for some reason. You may have deduced this by now, but for some reason MLB Network didn't start coverage of this one until 11
