Ya that is depressing I saw that too It also mentions the Royals being interested in Burnitz, the Cubs having interest in Mench, and Lee possibly signing an extension this offseason. I figured that when Lee exploded this year that JH would try to lock him up this spring. I'd applaud such a move. I've also heard Patterson + pitching prospect for Mench which sounds like a good deal.
ND goes for it on 4th and 3 and Quinn throws it into double coverage, incomplete. Navy gets the ball in ND territory. This is why I hate playing Navy. They're not good enough for me to be pumped about the game but they always worry me.
At this point, Brady Quinn could run to the sideline, grab a chair, run back to the pocket, sit down, read a Harry Potter book, get up and throw passes. He's getting absurd amounts of time to throw.
I don't think I've mentioned this lately, but thank the Lord that Urban Meyer turned ND down. Navy gets a break and doesn't get called for a delay of game when the clock said :00, they call timeout. 4th and 2 for the Middies inside the ND 40.
Bulls/Jazz tonight at 8:30 ET at the UC. Fans outside Chicagoland can finally watch a Bulls game as this one is on the Superstation WGN. Chris Duhon is not expected to start, and he will be a game time decision with his knee contusion that kept him out on Wednesday. Expected starters for the Bulls: Hinrich Piatkowski Nocioni Songaila Chandler For the Jazz: Keith McLeod Gordon Giricek Andrei Kirilenko Mehmet Okur Greg Ostertag
My plan for the day is thus: 1 pm - ND/Navy 4 pm - BSU basketball exhibition game 6 pm - listen to BSU/EMU on radio 8:30 pm - Bulls/Jazz on WGN Superstation This could be a fantastic day or an utterly depressing one.
Lucky for us he does still walk in the number four spot, .374 OBP batting fourth over the past three years. I think Geech was trying to say that Adam Dunn's high OBP is more likely to produce benefits when he is on base for Lee and Ramirez as opposed to being on base for Ramirez and Barrett, Ramirez and Encarnacion or what have you.
I respect your opinion Cardsfan, would you sign a shortstop for that money, especially if you were in the Cubs situation? Consider that the Cubs are competing with the White Sox and have to please the fans now. The Cubs are probably getting to the point where they need to please the fans regardless of the White Sox. The Cubs have been raising payroll the last few years, had a mega-talented team in 2004, and still have failed to deliver the desired results. IMO the margin for error is decreasing whether or not the Sox win it. Would anyone on this board not be calling for Giles/Dunn/etc. if the Sox had gone 70-92?
If I was Nomar, I'd tell Hendry and the Cubs to go jump into Lake Michigan. That's why I said 6M, which is much more than he's likely to draw from other teams. I'd also throw in incentives to take it up to about 8.5M if he stayed healthy and produced.
This is ridiculous. If it takes more than 4/36 to get Furcal then call up Nomar, he's coming back with Cedeno as the backup plan. Give Nomar a 1 year 6M contract and call it a day.
In my opinion, thank God you're not GM of the Cubs. I wouldn't say that. That's hardly the worst lineup that the Cubs could end up with. That said I don't think the Cubs need Burnett, I don't think they want Burnett, and I hope we don't end up with Kearns and I hope Ronny doesn't end up batting 2nd.
