  1. Patterson, cash, two prospects for Tracy? In all seriousness, ship him to Arizona for a midlevel prospect. It'd be much more than CPatt is worth.
  2. I'll miss Nomar, and since it looks like he was indeed willing to play just about any position, I'm more than a tad pissed off at Hendry for not signing him especially since we could have had him for far less than the 8 million we gave him last year.
  3. Personally, I would pretty much hand Angelos a list of players (Z, Prior, DLee, Ramirez, Murton, Pie, Pierre, Barrett, Dempster, Williamson, maybe a couple I'm forgetting) and say he can pretty much take any three players in the system except for those for Tejada and see if he bites.
  4. I rate teams' off-seasons as how good they're going to be in 2006 personally. And the Marlins get an F. Maybe they'll be good in 2009, and maybe it's not totally their fault that they have to dump payroll, but the fact is they are going to be all kinds of terrible in 06, and they get an F. I'll give the Cubs a B- for the moment. If they can get a decent RF I'll bump it to a B.
  5. One might also consider how blatantly spikes-up and out of the way of the base Carlos Lee slid into second on that day.
  6. I don't think wins mean much, either, but nine wins is quite a jump in a career high. If he were an OF and had a proportional jump in home runs then everyone would be clamoring for a steroids test. Which is not to say that Carp is juicing, I'm just saying it's evidence of the magical power of the Cardinals uniform.
  7. If the Rockies want him, they can have him. Enjoy that 10.00 ERA that's likely to come in Coors Field.
  8. Mitre never impressed me. Good luck elsewhere Sergio, but you won't be missed by this Cub fan.
  9. Exactly my point. Injury prone guy stayed healthy and he was lucky to do so. Kerry Wood and Mark Prior have gotten no such courtesy from the Baseball Gods the last couple years.
  10. Pretty much what I think. We have Pierre, we don't need any more speed-only guys in the lineup.
  11. Thea's not attractive. That's a terrible pic of Erin by the way. She's much better looking than that.
  12. What makes you say Carpenter was lucky? Carpenter's tats 2000 - 6.26 ERA 2001 - 4.09 ERA 2002 - 5.28 ERA 2003 - did not play 2004 - 3.46 ERA 2005 - 2.83 ERA Career high for IP before 2005 - 216.2 (in 01) 2005 IP - 242.2 HR allowed in 01, 02, and 04 - 30, 29, 24 (in fewer IP may I remind you) HR allowed in 05 - 18 Career high SO before 2005 - 157 2005 SO - 213 Career high W's before 2005 - 12 2005 W's - 21 I could go on but you should get the gist by now.
  13. The World Series trophy would assumedly be worth the roughly 100 million in luxury tax you'd have to pay.
  14. He was going after both Furcal and Pierre (to bat second in the order) all along. Now, I think he's looking at Lugo to bat second. More than likely, Hendry's trying to be low profile about the SS but the Cubs have been linked (in the local print media) with the DRays for both Lugo and Huff. I wouldn't mind Lugo at SS and Cedeno at 2B but we should pass on Huff. I completely agree. Anyone who's hating on Bradley should definitely not be asking for Huff. I wonder though if Tampa will make someone take Huff if they want Lugo? :?
  15. floyd isn't available either. mench is too expensive. Read today on SI.com's Truth and Rumors that the Rangers want a No. 2 starter for Mench, and that Floyd is not available. Good luck with that No. 2 starter, Texas, and enjoy having 17 OFs on your team.
  16. Somebody once told me that about Nomar. Exactly. If Jim Hendry is good at nothing else, he's good at trading prospects for good players. I never count him out of a trade idea. Considering pretty much all sources agree that Hendry was the one who engineered the massive four-team Nomar deal, you've gotta think there's some way we can put together a Tejada package.
  17. I was going to write the same thing but I thought it would be trolling. Wellemeyer hasn't done much of anything since his first appearance against Milwaukee in 03 (which only came about because it was the 15th inning and Dusty was out of pitchers).
  18. Wow, that awesome. There is a good chance I read it if it was on NDnation. Do you post there? No, I don't post there. Between this board, Baseball Fever, the Bulls board I am on and the Panthers board I'm on, I waste too much time on message boards as it is. :P
  19. Throw him into the Bradley deal, Jim. Please?
  20. Yea, but the previous guy had Holtz using him in the option more than anything. Clausen would be awesome, I think it will be between USC and ND, and I really hope ND wins. here is an article about Mustain, but it says he will probably stay with Arkansas or go to Tennessee. I can't find it right now, but Mustain did meet with Weis over the last weekend, so who knows. Could you imagine being in HS and having this much attention payed to your every move? Absolutely not. I imagine it just being hilarious to watch all these articles being written about me. OT: I wrote an opinion column for the BSU Daily News about how Ty's firing was not racist and it somehow got posted on NDnation.com. (I'd never heard of the site before then.) I'd gotten about 15 e-mails from people supporting it before I realized it had gotten posted on there. I ended up getting like 30 e-mails supporting the column that day. It was surreal.
  21. Now Erin Andrews...*drool* There's a woman for you. Can't believe it took this long for her to be mentioned.
  22. As an addendum to that, the number 1 tight end in the country, Konrad Reuland from Mission Viejo, CA is supposedly leaning towards ND. "Leaning far enough to almost fall over", says Tom Lemming. It's entirely possible that Weis will net the number one recruiting class in America in his first full offseason. Truly amazing.
  23. I'll take Mustain if he's that good...but let's not forget about a kid named Jimmy Clausen that still has another year of HS to go that's supposed to be about the greatest QB ever (and is supposedly leaning toward ND, although his parents have tried as hard as they can to keep anyone from knowing what he is thinking). Of course, we got another guy like that and it didn't work out so well...
  24. Murton's OBP was .386 in his 140 AB. He also hit 7 homers, which over a full season is a 30+ homer pace. He was the Cubs' most reliable player besides DLee over the last two months. And Dusty naturally avoided playing him whenever he could.
