  1. I clicked the press conference link on Cubs.com and am getting video streaming of MLB.com Radio, so it appears at least that you might be able to actually watch the press conference. Just FYI.
  2. That prediction made me wonder, so I checked and I was surprised. OSU has given up more than 25 points just once this year, 31 at Minnesota. Other highs were 25 v. Texas, 24 v. Michigan St., and 21 at Michigan. They gave up 10 or fewer points 5 times(N'western, SDSU, @Indiana, Iowa, Illinois). Not trying to make anything of your prediction, just seeing it got me thinking, and what I found I thought was interesting. I agree with you completely. If Texas, who scores 50.9 PPG and get on average 522 yards per game can't put up 27 against OSU, I don't see Notre Dame, who scores 38.2 PPG and gets on average 505.4 YPG, putting up 27.When it comes to offense: Charlie Weis > Mack Brown JMHO. Although I wouldn't be at all surprised if the game ends up being lower-scoring than that.
  3. That's a photoshop? Doesn't look like one...
  4. No real news on BBTN today but I saw Eric Wedge being interviewed and was compelled to say that he looks remarkably similar to good old JR Ewing himself.
  5. [jaws music]
  6. Is he really that offensive to Hendry's plans that we can't find a spot for him to play SOMEWHERE?! His bat really came alive when he got back from his injury, and didn't seem to be the negative guy that the Red Sox media machine made him out to be. Hendry has said numerous times that if Nomar was willing to play OF he would be signed already. It looks like he wants to be a SS or at least an infielder, and there's no room for him here.
  7. Good deal for KC, especially if Bayliss is as mediocre as Rotoworld claims.
  8. Is Flip Wilson available? Is Flip Wilson alive? That's a no.
  9. Jayson Stark just said that he expects Bradley to be a Cub. "Maybe not this week", said Stark, but he thinks Bradley will end up on the North Side.
  10. Make the prospect a Rich Hill type and not a Felix Pie type and I'll take it. Floyd as our RF would be easy to take.
  11. Did they make sure his nametag read Len Kasper and not Len Casper? (That's the best of the many pathetically lame jokes that ran through my head...)
  12. Damon Buford? No no no. If anything, the number should be retired in honor of Scott McClain. That said, the number should be open for Pierre once he gets around to picking his Cubs uniform number. Henry Blanco, Jody Gerut and Scott McClain all had flings with the number 9 last season. But Pierre will get his 9.
  13. Probably a decent move by Tampa. Brazelton has shown little more than flashes in the couple of years he's been with the big club. Most likely, it's just trading damaged goods for damaged goods, though.
  14. I think that if SF can come within two of the Seahawks, then the Colts can certainly beat Seattle.
  15. ND will win 27-21.
  16. As long as he plays Murton and Cedeno and doesn't bench them after their first 0-for-9 slump, I don't care what motivation is behind it.
  17. If Lowe and his massive contract, or Penny is enough to land Abreu, then how is Williams/R. Hill/another prospect not enough to get a deal done? :?
  18. What was the biggest reason DLee and Co. couldn't drive in more runs for the Cubs: Answer: There was never anyone on base. What does Juan Pierre specialize in: Answer: Getting on base. This is a good move.
  19. At this point, that's the best lineup we can realistically hope for. I think with our three horses all allegedly healthy, that offense would be more than enough to have a realistic shot at contending.
  20. I'm going to guess Washington. Bowden loves toolsy guys. Any confirmation on whether a pitching prospect is actually included or not? Cubs.com disagrees with who is included in the deal. They say that it's only Pinto and Nolasco and the Marlins are sending a prospect back. ESPN.com says it's all three with no prospect coming back. Time will tell...
  21. I'm buying the official Cubs.com article over an ESPN.com article. The Cubs.com version sounds better anyway. :D NSAvenger, if Hendry somehow comes out of this with Vargas, I will remove my I Hate Jim Hendry BandWGN and vow that it will never return.
  22. Just in case you missed, he wasn't implying they aren't studs, just thought (as did I) that it was funny that a professional web site would refer to players as studs. I could've sworn that the term "young studs" was pretty normal in baseball journalism. In opinion columns, but not on official "corporate" web sites. Ok, this is way too off-topic. Back to the topic at hand - does NSBB officially endorse this deal or not? :P
  23. This is what I was referring to. A professional web site using "studs" is a little off. "Highly rated prospects" is one thing, but I still think it is funny that a professional website is talking about "studs" in the minor leagues. Of course, they have to keep their few fans' interest somehow I guess.
  24.   at the photoshopping
