He's been better than this indicates, but his ERA is above 5 right now. I don't see anyone other than Hanley picking up any significant vote totals unless Marshall gets his ERA below 4.
The Cubs would never let me, but I'd be twenty times the manager Dusty is and a majority of posters on this board would probably be better than I would.
Which means it's about time for you guys to trade them all away so you won't have to pay them. You're not paying attention. Bay & Jack Wilson signed some expensive (for us) contract extensions this previous off season. No one is going anywhere just for the sake of dumping salary. There's a reason Pittsburgh is our AAAA team. That's 1.5 GB us for fifth.
Good move. Nevin at 1st, Walker at 2nd till Lee gets back, then Nevin can be the corner IF/corner OF backup guy as well as some pop on the bench since the Mabry thing crapped out royally... Time to take the ? out of the title?
Eyre, Z, and Barrett have shots. Todd Walker should have a shot but considering how ridiculously undervalued and underrated he is (and the fact he's been playing 1B) he will get passed over.
I plan to read this book at some point. I thoroughly enjoyed Cubs Nation and Bleachers: A Summer at Wrigley Field, which were more or less the 2004 and 1987 versions of this book respectively, and I assume this one is just as entertaining.
Ken Rosenberg is absurdly nice to Cubs fielders sometimes. A big part of Ramirez's lowered error total in 2004 could probably be credited to Rosenberg.
Sammy is not allowed back on the Cubs because he might actually hit a ball out of the infield. And at the height of his career he actually took a few walks too. Can't have that.
