  1. The Beatles. AC/DC is fine but not Sweet 16 material.
  2. While I agree with your thought process, I find it hard to lump Maddux (a hall of fame 300+ winning pitcher) in with the rest of those scrubs. Because Maddux has been pretty awful since the end of April, that's why.
  3. The Cubs are destiny's doormat, it's just that they also happen to be incompetently run. Nothing like a stupid franchise with bad luck.
  4. CBB, have you stopped to think that perhaps KW, Ozzie, etc. are seemingly always dissing the Cubs because they're always being ASKED about the Cubs? I mean, I love this team and apart from saying they suck I would never speak ill of them, but if I was rooting for a team and everyone involved on that team was constantly asked questions about another team - in the same city no less - I'd probably grow antagonistic as well. No one is suggesting you root for the White Sox - many of us dislike the Sox, some pretty obviously so. We are merely requesting that you not bring it up constantly. We understand you have a fervent dislike of the Sox, and that is not the issue. The manner in which you bring it up is what is putting people off. That's all.
  5. he probably would actually Not if pitchers don't throw you hittable pitches. If they don't throw him hittable pitches, he should take walks until the pitchers realize that's a bad idea too and start pitching to him again.
  6. Harris's AVG in 2003 was .193, and his OPS was .506. I think I would've taken my chances.
  7. I thought that at least the Sox didn't buy into the media-created OzzieBall myth to explain their success, but it looks like even they are fully on board.
  8. 2nd time out of 3 series we've been swept by Washington The highlight of the day was Hawk Harrelson saying that it was "BS" that Jon Garland got warned by the umpire for pulling an Estes and missing to the wrong side of the butt when he attempted to retaliate Padilla hitting Cintron in the Sox game. Amazing. "We didn't even hit anyone and we got warned!" said Hawk.
  9. yes In 2009, in his first year in a Red Sox uniform.
  10. Seconded. That's all I heard about them for a long time.
  11. 850-900 probably. His numbers will probably improve to around 875.
  12. Well, we're talking about guys that were hyped enough that they probably would be fast-tracked to the majors in many cases.
  13. The Sox are sinking very fast, and Buehrle's falling off the face of the earth at an extraordinary rate of speed.
  14. It was only a single because Escobar injured himself. I must be taking crazy pills because I swear I didn't say that. *checks* no, it was otis89, not me. No idea how my name got attached to that. It's like the Steven A.Smith/Dusty Baker appearance controversy. "Come out and boo ManCrushOnNomar"
  15. I'd like to admit that it took me until about mid-2005 before realizing the stupidity of Baker. Spot-on criticisms by BP.
  16. (a few years from now) Jeff Francoeur
  17. I read about this before it was posted here and it sure seemed like they were recruiting booers. I cannot stand Dusty, but I'm glad he's not going on that joke of a show.
  18. QFT. I don't think that many posts here attacking CBB's views, if any at all, crossed the line.
  19. I would. Hendry has shown to be far better at getting trade value than he has at outright signing free agents. 90% of Hendry's major successes as a GM have been in trades. But what about trading veterans for prospects? The only success so far is Murton, but he wasn't exactly going hard after Murton, and he didn't really trade veterans for prospects. He mostly traded prospects for a veteran and had a prospect thrown in. From what I can tell, Hendry can do a decent job of trading prospects for established young players. But he couldn't pull off a Marlins deal. You sure? I could've sworn that I heard that Hendry insisted on Murton.
  20. The '72 phillies won 59 games. Steve Carlton won 27. Thats impressive. Z better pick it up. Or the Cubs just need to suck more.
  21. The White Sox have finished under .500 exactly zero times in a year beginning with "200". The Tigers haven't even remotely contended in quite some time. Not to say that the fairweather attendance isn't annoying, but there are some degrees to look at there.
  22. I found it on ESPN.com So, are you blaming them for bringing it up? Reporting news, psshh...we all know they are only doing this to get CBB's goat
  23. I think I'm 2-4 not 3-4 since I didn't get a win last time through...not sure though.
  24. Z will have to garner serious Cy consideration if he continues winning games. (He should get it anyway, but he will if he wins games)
