  1. and because of adrian beltre, he won't get near that kind of $. What's the Cubs deal he's signed to now? I don't think he has to get close to Beltre to exceed his current contract. He signed a 4/42 in April 2005 so he should have about 2/24 left on it.
  2. Guys on this team who are allowed to say anything that could be interpreted as a finger-point at somebody else: Derrek Lee (because he is the de facto captain and mainly because he would find a way to make it constructive) That's it. That's the list. Aramis is right, of course. But saying it in the press is a bad idea.
  3. I hope to make it to the 2007 NSBB bleacher day once one is organized in February.
  4. I can't imagine it being any worse than Sammy being in a Cubs uniform and getting booed. :?
  5. Be honest, you were chuckling to yourself when you wrote the last four words of that post.
  6. Given career stats I could probably give this a go.
  7. Oden and Ben are not the same player. You can play Ben at PF and Oden at C if it comes to that. But any talk of the Bulls getting Oden causes me to black out from temporary insanity over how good we'd be so I don't want to think about it now.
  8. Mizzou fans either hated Quin Snyder or thought he was a bad coach for the most part, but I see your point. Under two months now until Sept. 2nd :D
  9. Which only takes about 7 wins for ND, right? If you don't want threads to turn into ND vs Everyone, don't make posts like this one, people.
  10. PJ is a better Malik Allen. Ben is a MUCH better Tyson. Plus, we get our cap space right back next season if the Brown trade comes to fruition. If Pax doesn't win NBA Exec of the Year in 07...
  11. Sure. Murton, Williamson, Guzman, Wuertz, Walker and Hill. Boom.
  12. Guillen only selected Jenks and Buehrle. He selected Konerko as well. And he said Crede and Iguchi are 1st in line for injury replacements. The players voted on backup position players and were responsible for Konerko over Hafner.
  13. It has to be Liriano. Sorry the players are so stupid, Hafner. (They voted Konerko in)
  14. haha, what now? Michigan and MSU had a combined 3 games before they played Notre Dame. Are you seriously going to say that people overrating Notre Dame is due to their opponents? Isn't the entire reason they were overrated due to their murderous-but-oh-wait-a-minute-not-really schedule? You can't help everything, I guess, but Pitt-Mich-MSU, even with what ended up happening, is still a much tougher opening three games than what the majority of BCS conference schools face to open things up.
  15. I would still have a winning record if I hadn't made the mistake of spot-starting twice during the current two-month swoon.
  16. Prior has improved each time out, but unfortunately for him, the Cubs are facing a lefty. That means no run support for Mark. On the other hand, he should be used to that by now. Go Cubs.
  17. No, but some are significantly downplaying his value. He's no Tim Duncan, but he provides more overall value than say, Ilgauskas. I'd say that's highly debatable. I wouldn't. Z isn't nearly as important to Cleveland as he was, say, two years ago.
  18. Fact is, Bulls were a 7 seed in the East and nearly took down the eventual champs with Chandler and Sweets as their main big men. Now, they have Wallace (which weakens Detroit as well) and even if he has weaknesses, he is ten times the player Chandler is. Then when you factor in the possibility of getting PJ for Chandler, you have a frontcourt of Nocioni/Deng/Wallace/PJ/Sweets/Allen, whichever 3 you want to throw out there. It lowers the PT for a guy (Sweets) who is much better when played in quick spurts, gives Noc, Allen and Deng a guy in the middle who can attract some attention and open their shooting up more, and he improves the defense in a huge way. This won't singlehandedly put the Bulls as the East favorites, but it goes a much longer way than you'd normally expect due simply to the complete ineptitude of the Bulls' 4 and 5 in many games last year.
  19. I suggest that if you want to know how good ND's schedule is before mid-October, write to the athletic directors of Michigan, MSU, Purdue, et al and tell them to stop scheduling Miami OH, Northern Illinois, Ball State, directional Michigan schools, Baylor, etc. in the early season. No one would have made the mistake of overrating the Irish last season if the other teams had played anyone before their showdown with Weis and Co.
  20. Carr and JLS deserve an assist to all the ND haters due to the fact that their teams always end up with a much worse record than their talent indicates thereby making last year's schedule look even worse than it actually turned out to be.
  21. Which only takes about 7 wins for ND, right? Which is a hell of a lot harder to get than the ACC's automatic berth.
  22. Barrett is not in the game more than anything else because not enough Cubs votes were cast. If you are behind Yadier freaking Molina in the voting, something's up.
