  1. Watching on TV, I've got to say that would've been a pretty ticky-tack call if they had thrown a flag. The fact that it was a very poor(maybe even uncatchable?) throw probably sealed the deal. Too bad they didn't pull it off though. Seeing a replay, you might be right. Not that I trust for a second that the Big 10 refs would have thrown the flag even if the ball was right there.
  2. Oh, and 45-26 over a crappy team? What's Notre Dame trying to be, Purdue?
  3. You're not taking this away from me...2nd-best game I've been to in person, other than ND-USC. First 3 quarters, all the UM fans were kidding around with us. "You're Ball State, we don't really care, we'll kid around." In the 4th quarter, they didn't say a word to us. Not one. We had 109,000-some people scared out of their freaking minds. BS Michigan stuff report I: A little kid behind us kept saying "Ball State sucks". I guess they train them while they're young. BS Michigan stuff report II: On 4th and goal from the 7 down 34-26, Dante Love was blatantly interfered with. No call. If the refs don't openly screw us, we probably make it 34-32 and send it right down to the 2-point conversion. BS Michigan stuff report III: After that blatantly bad no-call, I was bitching about it, and the UM fan in front of me said something like, "Get over it!" I couldn't resist saying back, "Would YOU get over it?" Idiot fans behind us were blaming the refs for the whole comeback...it was probably the first time in history that the Wolverines were called for more penalties than a visiting opponent, so obviously they must be getting screwed right? BS Michigan stuff report IV: The refs were screwing us on spots all day. But that's no big shock. Seriously...this is the best moment I've ever had and probably ever will have as a Ball State fan. Amazing. Nate Davis, our true-freshman QB, has nuts the size of Saturn.
  4. For some unknown reason, Ball State decided to give Brady Hoke (13-30 career record as coach) a three-year extension through 2010.
  5. Uhh, is it too late to trade some of the points we didn't need in Miami for the last two games?
  6. I'd just like to note that since neither Sportsline or ESPN.com had a gamecast up at eight-forty that I gave up and popped in my Ultimate Jordan DVDs to get my Bulls fix for the evening.
  7. Congrats Greg. If I'd known in advance what we'd get for you, I'd have wanted you to win it exclusively as a Cub.
  8. Record of Cincy's wins: 15-27 Their only win over a team that isn't at least 2 games under .500 is conference opponent South Florida(who has yet to beat anybody above .500, 4-4 McNeese St. being the closest), who lost to one of the worst teams in the Big 12, Kansas. But they beat S Florida easily so what's your point? That neither are any good. The same way you can say "If Cincy had played bad teams they'd be 7-2", you can probably more easily say "Cincy can't beat anybody that's any good". That statement extends to USF, whose wins have a combined record of 10-30, with only Southland Conference power McNeese State being at .500 among those teams. And it's not like their losses are fantastic, losing to Cincy and to Big 12 bottom dweller(no offense Snood) Kansas. Kansas lost to Toledo this year, and Toledo is 1-4 in the MAC. 1-4 IN THE MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE. I don't think Snood would be able to take offense even if he wanted to.
  9. Likely 4 at-large teams: - Notre Dame, unless they play really badly against USC and fall out of the BCS top 12 - will be 11-1 or 10-2 - Whoever loses the Michigan/Ohio State game - will be 11-1 - whoever loses the SEC title game unless it's Arkansas (would be a shame because the Razorbacks are as good as most any 1-loss team right now) - Boise State West Virginia could replace Notre Dame if ND looks bad against USC. Or they'd be the first in line to replace Boise State. Arkansas would likely fall short of the BCS requirements if they lost the SEC title game, which could open the door for Auburn or Tennessee even though neither team is likely to make it to the SEC title game.
  10. I think 99.9999 percent of people outside of Ohio would be rooting for Rutgers if they somehow got to the national title game. That would be outstanding.
  11. I need to ask, why is your avatar an old Pepsi commercial?
  12. Had me until that part.
  13. I'm registered, hopefully the voting area for Muncie is reachable by bus.
  14. ND 79, Rockhurst 44. The starting five as I expected was McAlarney, Carter, Falls, Kurz and Zeller. The surprise was true freshman Luke Harangody, who piled up a game-high 17 points and 4 boards in just 21 minutes. 10/8 out of Carter and 11/10 from Kurz looked promising. This is a likable team and hopefully they can give me a fun season.
  15. Eddy Curry could never be as good as Dwight Howard. Howard is more talented than just about any player in the NBA. Bulls looked flat tonight, but 1-1 against two of the better teams in the East on the road is acceptable.
  16. TBA and GamePlans updated. Also, Oklahoma/A&M is now at 8 pm. Anyone else think this multiple Saturday Night games thing is getting a tad out of hand with three this week?
  17. But he is a solid gamble for a team looking for starting pitching depth. Given his usage out of both the bullpen and his desire (and upside) to start, Heilman is a far better swing-man than Rusch, and a better option to start than pulling up random guys from the minors. If it doesn't cost much in talent, then pursue him. That's fine... I just don't want people to get carried away by thinking that every pitcher coming off surgery will suddenly turn into Chris Carpenter. Heilman isn't Carpenter, Rothschild isn't Duncan, and the Cubs aren't the Cardinals. In fact, it's more likely that Heilman's arm will completely fall off than it is that he'll turn into Carpenter. Unless he ends up with the Cardinals.
  18. ND plays Rockhurst tonight in an exhibition at the Joyce. But I'm still on a "Chris Quinn got numerous meaningful minutes in the game last night" high. :D
  19. I'm surprised we are going to go after a gutless choking dog like Heilman. /sarcasm
  20. Looked at the Heat's schedules from all the way back to 1997-98 (as far as the site would let me). No losses of 42 or more. :D
  21. Chemo. 57-29 Bulls. This is absolutely ridiculous. Even the Crapper himself is playing fantastic. Nothing spells satisfaction like a silent American Airlines Arena. :D
  22. Holy freaking crap Tyrus is athletic.
  23. OLD NEWS (per this thread) ;) And that figure is 5.5M short of the actual total.
  24. Wow, if Kirk keeps improving that deal will be a freaking steal down the line. Way to get it done, Pax. (As if I had any doubt.)
  25. Telling my buddies all year that I wouldn't trade for Nomar if we had to give up Clement, then being absolutely psyched when we didn't have to. (Still wouldn't have done it.) Walker's Superman slide, which I watched with my best friend. Another thing I did with my best friend: started our annual tradition of spending one series at Wrigley for the SD games of 8/11 and 8/12, the 2nd of which Froemming helped to screw us out of before LaTroy (who else) finished the job. Honestly feels like something exciting was going on every single day with that team.
