  1. That's funny, he's not even the most complete player in his own infield.
  2. Which made no sense to me whatsoever. Why can't he come back in a week and a half and be in the playoffs? Why not two weeks? Why would they set some sort of arbitrary one week cut-off date? Because they don't think he'll be ready for the playoffs. He may be too rusty
  3. He's putting up some nice numbers so far. Is he a real prospect?
  4. Yeah, that's not a surprise. I know Fonzi wanted to go to the Last AS Game at Yankee Stadium, considering his past relationship with the Yankees, but sitting out, and getting healthy is more important then risking injury in a exhibition game. I agree it's good to sit him, but it's not an exhibition game
  5. This guy sounds too much like Colt Griffin
  6. Bump for imminent Edmonds signing
  7. If this isn't part of a manager's job, what exactly is he supposed to do?
  8. Of HGH? Yeah, that will help a lot. HGH doesn't really help healthy young adult males. If you're injured or want a billion dollar contract you might try anything, but it's basically snake oil. Screaming about PEDs every time Ankiel's name comes up just looks silly. Can Soto get some of that snake oil Bonds was using?
  9. Sadly, no. I interviewed at a bunch of places, but didn't get anything nailed down. I'm going to be working in-house somewhere. We'll see where. Too bad. Good luck.
  10. Quite honestly, I think he's ticketed to a life of trading for Goldman Sachs. He's got the arrogant attitude that investment banks love to have on their payrolls. My dad is an investment banker for Goldman Sachs...yeah I guess he is an arrogant a-hole so I'm not really offended. I'm going to be working with those people for the rest of my life at the rate my education is going. Investment and business law is entertaining, but the people...well, yeah. Are you working in a firm in Chicago this summer?
  11. Adam Dunn should probably start packing his bags
  12. He can't sue over that, it's not an open auction. It's a private, non-regulated club, Zell can sell to whoever he wants. 1. Cuban's ability to sue in this situation has nothing to do with whether the Cubs are a "private, non-regulated" club 2. Doesn't MLB require approval before a club is sold?
  13. Cedeno is still a better fielder and has more power, no matter how good Theriot may look right now. Problem is they both deserve a shot to start full time, but as long as DeRos doing his thing they wont. Theriot was the opening day starter, and as long as hes proving he can do the job, they're not going to take him out. I remember they were training Cedeno for center at one point, but I guess that didnt work out. Problem is, Theriot is at his ceiling right now. Cedeno isn't. I'm a big Cedeno fan, but he's no ARod. He has 1.039 OPS right now. He's above his ceiling
  14. Which manager will have the most to do with the Cubs winning the NL Central? Lou or Yost? Edit: IF they win the NL Central
  15. Because the Brewers hammer lefties. and everyone hammers marquis. Except in April and May
  16. Homerun Count: Pie: 1 Johnson: 0 Hopefully this will earn him a start sometime this week
  17. You make the board rules, am I right? You could change it. I don't think it makes it less interesting. Overreaction and hyperbole is in many Cub fans' DNA. I dare say the majority, actually. This one, however, is a on a level that's beyond what most would say, even me in my worst Cub doldrums. Wow. The thread title was supposed to be a joke. Considering how serious most people take this board, it doesn't surprise me that so many people caught feelings. Delete the thread if you want. What this board really needs is more Theriot grit jokes, condescending posts towards anyone who doesn't worship Baseball Prospectus, Hendry fat jokes, and remarks about sportswriters.
  18. Wait, I have an even better idea. Let's bench our top position player prospect after 20 bad at-bats in favor of a journeyman outfielder who was cut in spring training, even though our team currently has one of the best offenses in the National League. If anything, the fact that we just scored 13 runs for two straight days should support the idea that Pie should be playing, since his struggles wouldn't affect us too much.
  19. After that hit and run, with Johnson scoring from first, I think it's time to acknowledge Felix Pie's career is probably over.
  20. So you're saying that Johan Santana and Jake Peavy should pitch relief because they'd be more valuable there. :D That's not a good comparison. Santana and Peavy are two of the best pitchers in baseball. As a starter, Marmol has never done anything to indicate he could be at their level. In fact, he's never really shown he could be more than a middle of the rotation guy. However, he's shown to be one of the best relievers in the game.
  21. It's also important that the man running the draft now has a track-record of success and is a very good scout. The man before him was terrible. And before Stocksill, Jim Hendry certainly didn't have a Moneyball draft philosophy (which you're clearly advocating), but at the same time had good drafts.
  22. Hopefully Ward will get the majority of starts
  23. Tampa Bay wouldn't do that, unless the Cubs added a guy like Marshall or Gallagher along with Murton. But if the Cubs are interested in a guy like Brignac, then it would make some sense. I still couldn't see them taking those two for Longoria or Upton. There's no one in our organization that could net us Longoria or Upton. If we ate Zambrano's contract, we could probably put a package together
