The biggest need is a good LT. We've got what? Potentially 4 Guards on the roster already? Spencer, Edwin/Chris Williams, Garza and one more I think but his name is escaping me.
There's huge upgrades early second round. I'd be disappointed if the bears don't trade up. Glenn, Jenkins, Randle, Still, Fleener, Branch, Curry. Would you guys be set if they went after Dline again? couple of great DE left.
That's my problem with this pick - I much prefer both the OL far more to any of the DEs available at 19. That's exactly how I feel. I wasn't wanting an O-line pick, but I completely expected them to go that route since that is how the chips fell. DeCastro is a sure impact upgrade on a need of ours, yet the Bears go for a potential question mark player who hasn't played in the 4-3. To compound it hearing Emery talk about versatility and special teams was [expletive]. The Bears don't run a versatile defense. Its the most plain vanilla 4-3 scheme in the league. Fans don't want to hear about special teams with a first round pick.
For anyone that cares, Hub Arkush just came on the Score. Really disappointed with the pick. Saying he lacks the strength to be a full time end in the 4-3 and that teams will be running the ball right at him since he lacks the strength and gets overpowered very easily etc. Thinks we should have taken Reiff who he thinks is a long term future LT (i disagree) or taken DeCastro.
You're perhaps the most negative poster on this board. I'd venture to say that 95% of Bears fans are up in arms over this draft pick for various reasons. I'm an easily disturbed, jaded Chicago sports fan, big deal. 95%? It seems pretty mixed around here. I'm not ecstatic, but it's the first pick by our new GM. He's already acquired Marshall who we've wanted for years and has 6 more picks to make. I'm not arguing what you're saying. I'm stating the facts of the situation that it was a bit of a reach on a 3-4 defensive player. Hearing Emery say that he had a "blue grade" as far as Special Teams go was quite frustrating. We don't need a quasi LB/Special Teams guy in the first round. We need pure pass rush.
You're perhaps the most negative poster on this board. I'd venture to say that 95% of Bears fans are up in arms over this draft pick for various reasons. On top of his average sack totals, hes had 3 concussions so far in his career and hes undersized by 20 lbs. He was chosen about 8-10 slots too early. I'm an easily disturbed, jaded Chicago sports fan, big deal.
