  1. That is awesome
  2. Keep an eye on RaShede Hageman. He'll have a huge combine. Former basketball player, 6'6", 318 and supposedly has over a 30" vertical and runs well under 5.0 in the 40. Also, there's a rumor the Bears really like Aaron Donald. But with the rumors the Bears and Melton have been constantly talking and have mutual interest, I'd imagine a 3-tech DT won't be a priority if Melton signs. That'd eliminate Donald and Jernigan. I'd say it'll come down to Ealy, Hageman, or Calvin Pryor. Eliminated Mosley because they had 2 rookies fail as starters last year...do they want to do that again? That'd be 3 of the top 4 picks in 2 years on LBs. Gilbert is possible, but I don't see Emery valuing CB enough to take one at 14. I think Clinton-Dix is out as they want Conte to be able to compete. Both Conte and HCD are FS only. Conte can't compete with a 1st round pick that talented. Donald looks to be a workout warrior type which Emery will love.
  3. So ultimately it rules out Louis Nix for the 14th pick due to the Bears sticking to a 1 gap scheme. My guess is it's down to DT Timmy Jernigan, CB Justin Gilbert or LB CJ Mosley. I think it would be too early for DE Kony Ealy.
  4. A hipster GM, is somebody who thinks hes smarter then everybody else taking the more obscure player. Kinda like your hipster buddy liking the really obscure bands that nobody knows or the lesser known craft beers. Hell, Emery's already got the thick black frames.
  5. I think it's reasonable to assume the Bears won't be picking the BPA. They haven't done that at all the last 2 years. I'm going to also assume that I'll be pretty upset with whatever choice Emery makes because he's the hipster GM come draft time.
  6. Would rather have Roby or SJB than Purifoy in that situation. Also, I wonder if Pryor ends up going ahead of HaHa. If he has a better combine showing then I would imagine he would. It's weird how certain players just start to leapfrog others near draft day
  7. I really like Walt's mock draft today for the Bears. FS Dix CB Purifoy DT Johnson (LSU) A pretty good first 3 selections especially if you can add a DE in FA.
  8. He moves around pretty good for being 400 lbs
  9. I wanted him on the Bears.
  10. Well yeah, he's the quintessential meathead/toughguy/jock personality who also happens to play middle linebacker. That's going to make him dislike every QB, whether they play on his team or another. I'm sure Butkus was the same way, especially at that age. But back then there wasn't as much movement from team to team by players so he may have been a bit more supportive of his own guy. Urlacher also worshiped at the alter of Lovie, and he probably sees Emery/Cutler as major reasons why Lovie was fired. And if Urlacher feels that way, Briggs feels that way. And if Briggs feels that way, a lot of the defense probably does too. Though, admittedly most of the defense was either young, new (Williams, Anderson) or probably don't give enough of a crap (Peppers, Jennings). Urlacher's really been quite annoying this entire past season on Fox Sports One. Every time the Bears came up, he appeared on the surface at least to be a little salty. Looks like he's going to continue being that way for awhile.
  11. Per the Trib, Urlacher got an invite to hang at Bucs training camp for 1 week. He also decided to passive aggressively throw a dart or two @ Jay in the interview.
  12. Thibs has to be one of if not the best coach in the last 10-15 years. He's turned Bellineli, Augustin, Nate, Bogans etc into servicable players.
  13. Yeah, I still think the Bears would need an additional edge rusher with Bennett. He's never been a 10+ sack guy. He's a pretty good all around guy though, probably give you about 10 sacks, as he has share a lot of time his entire career. But I'd like the Bears to find a potential 12+ sack edge guy at some point in the draft. Unfortunately, I don't think there are very many of those guys in this draft. If Emery finds a 12 sack guy this off-season he's a miracle man. I said, "potential". Even if he's not going to get there for a couple years. The Bears need to find a guy with elite edge rushing potential. As good as Bennett is, he's not an elite edge rusher. And Bennett, Wootton, Bass, Washington and McClellin is essentially the exact same group as last year, that didn't get enough pressure on the QB. And also, if they are going to go hybrid or 3-4, they'll need a guy that can stand up and rush the QB. Chandler Jones. Anyways, the entire Dline needs prospects. I like the reports on Hageman as somebody that anchor the line and provide the interior push. If you can sign Bennett or Jackson and couple that with a stud DT, then you're in business.
  14. Aside from the screwy owner, I don't see why people are hating on the Browns so hard. They're loaded with good young talent and they have some solid draft selections in the upcoming draft. They'll likely get a crack at a good young QB in this draft and hopefully they found the right coach.
  15. Did anyone else hear that on the radio yesterday? Was a station or program specified? Assuming it would have been on ESPN 1000 given Olney works for them, or maybe it was said on ESPN TV. It was in an article by that Loxas dude. I heard it, too. You can listen to it on the ESPN 1000 daily podcast for yesterday (Wednesday 1/22). Olney spoke in vague, broad terms, but said that he's heard from other owners around MLB that the Cubs' ownership has been "surprised" by how much more difficult and expensive taking over the Cubs has been and how much the Cubs' ownership underestimated all of the money they'd have to put into various "expenses" and how much of a pain in the arse the rooftop situation would be with respect to the renovations. Not incredibly profound, nor is it particularly surprising. It would also be consistent with Theo and Jed not being fully aware of all the financial limitations they'd have; put simply, it's possible that the Ricketts weren't aware, either. They have a very simple way to remedy the financial situation if it were truly hard and unbearable for the family. You move to a new ballpark where you own everything and increase the profits 10 fold. Staying in Wrigley is increasingly becoming a losing proposition.
  16. He's gonna be a great late round pick up by somebody.
  17. Gibberish. If you seriously want to debate this stuff just say so and I'll make a thread. Did you just hit me with the "COME AT ME BRO!!" ? "Meet me in the parking lot after school and bring your friends!" Wow. You take an invitation to debate the topics you're being so defensive about as some kind of threat? You realize I'm talking about posting things on a message board, right? Man, that's weird. I appreciate the invite, however why would I accept such an invite? On a sports forum where it's plainly obvious that people here would have no respect for certain thought processes? Isn't that one of the reasons we came to this forum versus a nfl.com/cubs.com forum? I never once even stood up for what I truly believed in here, yet I was labeled a witch by the angry mob because I expressed the idea that hating somebody for thinking 9/11 had some interesting storyline was quite stupid. Yes lets blindly hate somebody for their opinion. I'll take MR's suggestion and move along. Thanks.
  18. I like the new hires and I'm pretty excited to see how our defense measures up next season after the FA and draft.

  20. I love it, but I can admit that he probably didn't play at a Pro Bowl level the majority of last season. #insidejob #pointsandlaughs
  21. Still wielding the mighty pitchforks and carrying the torches. This is awesome. My favorite is somebody mentioned dignity and politics in the same sentence.
  22. You must live indoors and never visit the outside world.
  23. Oh well, they lost the bid. Keep drafting studs and everything will be okay.
  24. Safe phrase to abide by. "Question Everything."
