  1. I still want Colt Lyerla on this roster. He's still unsigned. And in response to the Emery hipster pick, I just think the draft was good until the QB/Punter picks. This team has other pressing needs and is in a 'win now' mode. TE,WR,S,LB all would have been better picks then a QB who we hope will never see the field and a buff punter
  2. Absolutely. Total hipster pick Yes, hipster. http://www.prideofdetroit.com/2013/2/21/4012156/nfl-draft-punters That is skewed by only reporting on the average slot for punters by GMs dumb enough to draft a punter. Indeed, but with 36 punters selected in 20 years, it certainly isn't a "hipster" selection. Picking a REALLY ATHLETIC PUNTER near the top of the 6th round violates logic and reason. They can be had as a UDFA. Hell if we were a dome team that can accurately project how a Punter would fare at the home stadium, it might add some relief to this pick. Fact is, Soldier Field is a hard place to kick and you cannot project how a Punter will do there. It's a wasted pick unless like the above poster said, the guy is a Pro Bowler or a top 10 Punter. This team is majorly lacking in TE depth.
  3. Absolutely. Total hipster pick
  4. Bears signed some dude for TE, Cody Booth.
  5. This line is going to regress in a hurry. Next season emery will have to find a new need to obsess over. I don't see the line as regressing more so than most of our roster. It has plenty of youth on it, with Emery committing plenty of resources to it since he's been here. Garza is the next out, but we hopefully have an experienced vet waiting in the wings in de la Puenta. Bushrod could decline, or Mills or Long could fail to progress, but NFL rosters are always in a constant state of decline. You make it sound like a bad thing that Emery has each season consistently addressed the biggest needs, and really I think has done so in a way to hedge both short term improvement and long term stability. I do not think you can have long term success by obsessing over need in the draft, doubling and tripling up at positions of need, drafting punters, and otherwise not taking advantage of value in drafts. Bingo. The Punter pick was just flat out stupid. With the 2 DTs my only beef with that is that they likely won't see huge playing time this year behind Ratliff and Collins/Paea
  6. @ZachZaidman: Phil Emery on Jordan Lynch: "I think he's a really fine runner." Sounds about right. I'm concerned about the depth at TE. Without looking I think our #2 is Onabun
  7. Shane Skov is a raider FML
  8. I thought the Steelers reached on Shazier
  9. i really don't want our 2nd TE to be a 7th round draft pick or UDFA... As opposed to who we have now? Colt has first to second round skills
  10. Gut punch. We need a 2nd TE bad. Christian Jones and Roberson are still out there too
  11. Major blue balls from this draft class. Fuller and Sutton appear to have the best values, I'm lukewarm on Carey but that's about it. Vereen was taken in the appropriate round. If we can somehow walk away with Lyerla id feel much better in having a pick with a high upside/potential steal
  12. @RapSheet: #Bears GM Phil Emery does a study on how late-round QBs rarely work out. Then, takes a swing with QB David Fales from San Jose St
  13. I'm sorry but Emery is a [expletive] idiot in the draft. A punter? Not even close to BPA
  14. Stupid pick IMO. I want Lyerla or Skov/Jones
  15. Green Bay doing well in this draft, as usual
  16. Why pick Carey over Storm Johnson?
  17. CB Desir, LB Telvin Smith, RB Storm Johnson or S brooks/Bailey Some good options here. I like Desir
  18. Please please pick Desir and/or Lyerla
  19. @ZachZaidman: One NFL scout tells me Ferguson is a "big-time run stuffer." Consistently draws double-teams. Sheds blocks. Pass rush technique needs work.
  20. Meanwhile the 49ers and Seahawks continue to laugh at their peers Great value for Hyde.
  21. Nearly everyone has this pick as a reach. Classic Phil Emery, the hipster GM
  22. Hyde should have been the pick IMO Oh well.
  23. Bears gonna take Adam Muemba
  24. I don't get the meatball fans complaining that he's a starting nickel. Most teams with a halfway decent offense are going to try and spread you wide with 3 WR and a TE.
