  1. I'm upset with some of Orton's play, but I give him credit. Hes a rookie in the midst of a playoff berth, and his coaches won't allow him to occansionally gunsling. In Purdue he was a great passer.
  2. I can't see the game, overpursuit? Missing tackles, and not effectively adjusting to the screen.
  3. Nobody gets it because it's not true. I disagree. How often does Turner call a deep post or fly? Or a crossing pattern? Most of the time it's a sideline fade, or a quick slant. Thats exactly what I mean. I fully expected Turner to call a deep pass in the first quarter. Nobody in the league has faced a deep pass from the bears. They don't have to worry about it, so they overload the box.
  4. I'm surprised nobody here gets it. The offensive schemes aren't ALLOWING Orton to pass deep. They only run small plays with little risk. Orton does well when he has control of what to run.
  5. What is Rosenthal smoking? No way I trade PRIOR or Z for Miggy.
  6. Angelo's coulden't recognize talent if his life depended on it. Thats the whole problem with that organization.
  7. Great. The Steelers owned us on that drive. bunch of screen passes.
  8. I think they could get Abreu or Tejada. It's just not likely. If they want to give up Zambrano or Prior, which isn't going to happen. For what we are offering (Walker, Williams, Patterson, Welly, Novoa, etc.), I repeat anyone who thinks the Cubs have a shot at Manny, Abreu, Dunn, or Tejada is delusional. I'm not sure I understand how anyone could stand to cheer for this team without being delusional. Best post on this thread so far. :salute:
  9. Yeah but the Cubs just aquired arguably the best leadoff hitter in baseball. Juan Pierre plays every game, every day. If you think thats not going to ignite the Cubs offense, then you're mistaken. The Cardinals had a problem on offense last year, their problem will be worse this year. Not to mention I don't expect another lucky year for Carpenter.
  10. Interesting. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AinAqmm.Vpd1Fo5zgVoBqjsRvLYF?slug=ap-orioles-hernandez&prov=ap&type=lgns Guess Javy Lopez is done.
  11. Good. I hate the Yanks more then the Cards.
  12. We got this one. Lots of playaction, and be ready for all the blitzing. The holes will be opened for Orton, he just needs quick intelligent passing and we'll win the game.
  13. Miles slugged .292 on the road last year. Jeff Suppan slugged .293. Of course Miles DID get on base at a .247 clip, which schools Suppan's .246 OBP. That trade made the Cards worse if anything. No more left handed specialist.
  14. I think he might flourish in NYC. You squeeze him between a couple of All-Star players, and he'll get a steady diet of fastballs. Then again theres nobody from that team I'd like on the Cubs that would realistically be traded to us.
  15. I'm just happy they're putting Bigbie in a power outfield spot. Hes below average in my opinion. Goodbye Burger King.
  16. Excuse me gentlemen but this is supposed to be a happy thread - lets put those smiley faces back on :D  :P A smiley face will come back to me as soon as I can exorcise the demons of the last two seasons. And the Hawkins ball into the stands doesn't even make my top ten. But three that are on par with Macias' error in the ninth at Enron were all ones in which I was in the stands for: Borowski and Hawkins blowing back-to-back saves on home runs from Rob Mackowiak in both ends of a doubleheader at PNC park on May 28, 2004 and LaTroy giving up a two out, two strike, three run home run to right field against Victor Freaking Diaz on September 25, 2004, after the Cubs had shutout the Mets for 8 1/3 innings (watching them lose the next day 3-2 as Moises Alou decided not to swing at one pitch from Al Leiter with the bases load in the fifth inning was also a lot of fun). And what makes me happy? The thought that none of these guys are on the 2006 edition of the Chicago Cubs. The Macias error was bad, but the loss when Hawkins threw the ball in the stands destroyed me. I literally put a hole in the wall. I knew he'd blow it, but throwing the ball in the stands is the most unlikeliest way of losing.
  17. This just in: The Chicago Cubs have resigned Jose Macias to a 5 year contract to serve as the permanent bat boy.
  18. Damn. This deal has the stench of the following trade: Todd Walker for Mench. Don't do it Jim.
  19. The most crushing defeat for me, was when Hawkins threw the ball into the stands at Wrigley in the ninth.
  20. YES THANK YOU LORD!! NO HOLLANDSWORTH! NO MACIAS! NO NEIF........ERR GOTTA WAIT TWO MORE YEARS No worries, Macias will OWN EVERYBODY at the WBC. Hes representing Panama!
  21. Theres a Juan Pierre conference call on MLB.com if anyones interested. From what he said, and what he sounds like, he appears to be a good fit in Chicago. Personally I'm not going to nitpick this move. Hendry's not going to wait all day on a National and Philly team, that doesen't know if they looking to win in 06, or not. The Nationals really don't even have an owner. Hendry wanted his leadoff man quickly, so he can shop for an outfielder, and a starting pitcher. Juan Pierre's intangible's, his experience, and his relationship with somebody like DLee are more valuable, then the marginal "better" hitting that Wilkerson brings.
  22. Orton is going to have to pass versus the Steelers. They'll be blitzing him non-stop. I predict the Bears sack Big Ben 4-6 times, and win the game by a field goal.
  23. If Baker gets another contract with the Cubs, I might quit baseball for the duration of it.
