  1. It's entirely un-Cubs fan-like, but for some reason I'm very optimistic that we will land Tejada in another typical Hendry fleecing. I wish I could share your optimism, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up on this unless there's some real news being reported of actual contact. I would love Hendry to fleece the Orioles by possibly keeping Pie, but for someone like Tejada, I dont see that happening.
  2. Does everyone think we actually have a shot at getting Tejada? I would love if the deal happened, but just searching around the internet, it seems like the only news I've seen concerning the Cubs and Tejada is Bruce Miles article. The rest of the articles concern Boston being a likely trade partner.
  3. I think the worst part of this is we are gonna have to wait a while to get results, either Cubs trade for Tejada or the Orioles publically pull him off the table. The waiting is gonna suck.
  4. Okay, lets just pretend we actually get him for a second. So our infield is set. Then what do we do about right field? Do the Cubs try and trade for a rightfielder?
  5. Probably already mentioned, but I dont feel like going through the entire thread. As Bruce Miles mentioned in his article, I can't see why Baltimore would trade within the division to Boston. Even if the trade was for Manny Ramirez, I can't understand why Manny would wave his no trade clause to go to a place like Baltimore. So I think if Tejada is really serious about wanting a trade, and Baltimore is willing to trade him, I would think we have as good a shot as any, assuming Hendry does have the cajones to pull this one off.
  6. Well, I hope Hendry is serious about doing this, because, depending on what the Cubs give up, this would greatly improve the teams offseason.
  7. Yeah I agree with you on Orton. Well, if I was Lovie this would be his last chance. I do like Lovie a lot and he is NOT Dusty Baker, so I bet he will be willing to make a change.
  8. I agree with you. I think we could spend the money more wisely than throwing out ten mil a year for Milwood.
  9. His health is the biggest thing that worries me at this point, but what other options are out there? What outfielders could we realistically go after?
  10. Well, at least Mackowiak can only kill the Cubs six times a year, as opposed to however many times it was with the Pirates.
  11. Wow this thread is gonna have several pages within the next hour.
  12. Is there any details, or was that all ESPN has said?
  13. Haha, if only Hendry could make a move that made everyone this happy...
  14. Cardinals definitely will have lost some parts to that offense, but in the end, they're the Cardinals, and they will somehow find some no name scrub who comes in the line up and hits .300 and gets them clutch hits. Its seemed that way the last two years, anyways. Oh and who could forgot Abraham Nunez.
  15. I agree with everything you said. Wilkerson's obp is good, but I think we should aim our sites a little higher.
  16. Man, its only Wednesday, I WANT IT TO BE SUNDAY! I recently got into an arguement with a Packers fan. He said this year was just like 2001, everything going right, blah blah blah. I countered with that all but Hillemeyer and Azumah are not under contract on the defense, and that the offense is a lot younger as well. I think this team is here to stay. DA BEARS
  17. Does the lineups were talking about generate enough offense though? That is my main concern. I mean, a healthy Bradley obviously would give you good solid power out in right, and if Murton does what he did this past season, left field should be solid, and overall the outfield should be a lot better. That beingn said, does that put our offense in a position to compete for the division?
  18. I agree but a GM/manager could talk to him and maybe convince him the advantages of playing in their city. I think Texas is one place he would accept a trade to. Yeah, I know money is a powerful thing and can change peoples minds very quickly, but for some reason I have a feeling Wood is just a gamer and he may want to give the Cubs and their fans another season. Again, I could be wrong and I could be putting too much trust into Wood, just my personnal opinion.
  19. I agree with ND, I really don't think Wood would accept a trade to too many places. Just my personnal opinion, I could be 100% wrong.
  20. Unbeleivable how bad our leadoff men were last year. Just pitiful. Juan Pierre better help get Derrek Lee more than the 107 RBI's he had last year, as opposed to the 130ish Lee deserved.
  21. This is good news. I give Orton one more start. If he performs as terribly as he has the last two weeks, I start giving Grossman way more involved in practice and a few series at least per game.
  22. Sorry, I don't feel like reading through all the pages, but what now with Patterson? If we get Bradley, he obviously moves to RF, so are we still going after him? What are we doing about shortstop?
  23. What happens to Kent now? Is Soriano moving to the outfield? What the hell is this guy doing? Not that I care, because I really don't care much for the Dodgers, but man, this is just weird.
