  1. That does sound good, but I dont see that happening. I really dont see how the Cubs can get Tejada without giving up Pie, Prior, or Z. And whoever previously said lets wait this out and let the Orioles get desperate, I totally agree with you. By the way, I just can't understand why the Orioles would not take top prospects instead of a Manny Ramirez or Bobby Abreu. They are NOT one player away from competing, they might as well reload and hope to be good in a couple years.
  2. Man I just don't understand why the Orioles would want Contreras. They are much more than just Contreras away from competing. If I was the White Sox, however, I'd do that deal in a second.
  3. Nice of the Dline to finally show up tonight. It is going to feel weird to have Da Bears taking a week off next week. But hey, Ill take it. DA BEARS!
  4. Merry Christmas all! Let's go Bears!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I wonder if Hendry even realizes that a lot of fans already dislike him for the last 2 offseasons. I wonder if he also realizes that trading Prior wold just outrage fans even more than they already are with him.
  6. I know its already been said, but Hendry is just a moron for making this move. I don't see how this moves helps us at all. I cannot stand this organization anymore. Hendry is more idiotic than I imagined.
  7. Hendry should be fired on the spot if thats his outfield and we dont have Miguel Tejada at shortstop.
  8. And once again Hendry really screwed himself by setting his sights on one thing this offseason. I really hope Hendry does have a plan, and I want to believe he does, but just the way things have gone the past year, things are not looking good...
  9. Does anyone know who the big name free agents are next season?
  10. I think we keep Patterson as a bench player this year. If he ends up improving, at least its with the Cubs. If not, hes a bench player and can't be much worse than Macias was last year. Also, if Patterson is our starting rightfielder going into the season, I give up. I'll still cheer for the Cubs, but will not have any hope for this season.
  11. This is more from the Cubs just trying to let the fans down slowly that the Cubs are not going to be making the necessary moves to compete this year. Just another load of b.s. from the Tribune.
  12. It's really sad too, because I for one have no faith that Hendry is going to sufficiently fill the hole. The longer this offseason goes on, the more depressing it gets.
  13. I don't care if Hendry overpays if Tejada gets us to the playoffs. Nor do I. It may be a good thing that the Sox get involved in this, simply because it may get Hendry to try even harder to get Tejada.
  14. I'd have to believe the Sox have the edge simply because Tejada wants to play for a winner and the Cubs are perceived as possibly the most disappointing team of the past 2 years. Will Tejada have a say? I don't know his contract situation, does he have a NTC? Whoever trades for him will probably want him to waive his right to demand a trade (or become a free agent if denied) after the first year. So, while he can't stop a trade, he can make it easier or harder to go to one team or another. I'd give up a lot for him, but I'd insist on him waiving that right. I agree with you. If we give up a whole lot for him, we better ensure hes ours for more than just one year.
  15. Man, if the Sox are indeed after Tejada, I think if the Cubs really want him, Hendry is gonna overpay in prospects for him. If the Sox do get Tejada, I think it could be the last time Hendry gets to screw things up on the Northside. Get it done, Hendry. You'vse sucked so far this offseason, do something good.
  16. And he's won a World Series with his philosophy. I would trade away all the good prospects in the Cubs system if it meant just one lousy World Series.
  17. Well, an awesome offseason is just continues to get me really pumped up!
  18. Well, Jocketty will probably steal some pitcher and will end up doing well for them (as it always seems that way, at least), but at least the Cardinals lost someone who last year ate some innings up I guess?
  19. Pitching wins, meaning trading Z would be stupid. As a previously mentioned, I only trade Big Z or Prior for Pujols or Cabrera. I'm especially not trading one of our pitchers for someone who is at least 5 years older than them. I Hendry does trade one of them for Tejada, he should be immediately fired.
  20. I agree. I don't know if I've ever read an article of his that sounded plausible. It really is amazing that the Tribune keeps this bum around.
  21. I would trade Z for Tejada under 1 condition. We could then trade Corey to the O's for Z. Other than that, there's no way I trade him. Hahaha I agree.
  22. Don....do you really think Baker is going to play Murton and Cedeno? I like Abreu too but IMO he is going to take a couple of major league ready players just to start the Phillies talking. Since the Cubs have 2 #1 starters and 3 number 5's I think that hurts the chance of this deal happening. supposedly Baker doesn't want an extension in Chicago, so there is only one more year left of his vet love. Where'd you hear that?
  23. I think either the Cubs will get Tejada within the next couple of days or the Angels or Astros will swoop in and get him in a week. Anything specific that makes you feel this way?
  24. I'm just thinking about this, and realized, why the heck would the Orioles trade Tejada to the Red Sox for Manny? The Orioles need pitching obviously, so in my opinion, it would be rather stupid for them to trade for Manny. Same with the Red Sox. I'm sure the Red Sox could get some good players for Manny, including a good starting pitcher. I just think Manny for Tejada is a stupid deal for both teams. I'm not saying the Cubs are the best match, because I actually think the Angels are, but I dont know, just seems that would be a dumb trade for both teams, even though it probably wont go down.
  25. My hatred for the Cardinals, which is extremely high right now, will be doubled if they get Miguel Tejada.
