    Sorry if already asked, but what does everyone think will happen if we do get Pierre? Do we still go after Furcal, or do we set our sites elsewhere in free agency?

    I agree with you. I just really for some reason want those two to be paired up with each other in front of Lee and Ramirez.

    Man, I am a little scared for the game next week. The Bears really haven't been playing well. Yeah, yeah the wind sucked today. But I still would like to see an overall better effort next week, especially because it'll be my first game at the new Soldier Field. GO BEARS!

    66-14 now. Texas v USC will be a very fun game to watch. Funny how several kU fans actually thought theyd be able to compete with Texas for a little while. Looks like Texas is just flexing its muscles now. I don't think we were totally delusional. Hate KU all you want, we've got a very good defense, and we played them very well last year. Texas is, apparently, a much better team this year than last, and KU is a much differnt team on the road than at home. not that this would be close in Lawrence, either. No I'm not saying you specifically. On Tigerboard, there were several predictions by jayhawk fans that it would be lik 35-10 and such. Yeah, kU does have good defense against teams like Mizzou and Nebraska. I did not know what the score of the Mizzou game against the horns would be, but I did give us no chance, especially after our loss to New Mexico at home (yeah we are kinda [expletive]). However, personally, Texas is easily the best team I've seen in my two years at Mizzou. They are just bigger, faster, stronger, and better than any team they've played this year. I personally look forward to Texas vs. USC in the national championship.

    It would have been nice for Brad to win the north in his last season, maybe we still have a miracle finish left for him. Stupid loss to kU. What do you think is the best bowl game that we go to? I really have no idea what the bowl situation is like for the B12, I've been a Big 10 fan prior to attending. I'll see if Tiger board has anything on it. It looks like if we win next week, we're looking at the Independence Bowl(v. SEC 6th or 7th), with a slight chance of moving up to the Alamo Bowl(v. Big 10 4th), and a chance of moving down to the Houston Bowl(v. someone from a non-BCS conference). If we lose next week, then the Independence Bowl is the best we can do, followed by the Houston, Champs Sports(v. ACC 4th or 5th), and Fort Worth Bowl(v. C-USA 4th). Wow, the Alamo Bowl would be a huge success for Mizzou. It seems highly unlikely, but I would take it.

    Wisconsin chokes at home, final score Iowa 20 Wisconsin 10. Quite the bounce back game for the Hawkeyes.

    59-7 Texas over Kansas in the third quarter. I expected Texas to beat a beatdown on kU, but geez, not like this.

    I respect your opinion Cardsfan, would you sign a shortstop for that money, especially if you were in the Cubs situation? Consider that the Cubs are competing with the White Sox and have to please the fans now. The Cubs are probably getting to the point where they need to please the fans regardless of the White Sox. The Cubs have been raising payroll the last few years, had a mega-talented team in 2004, and still have failed to deliver the desired results. IMO the margin for error is decreasing whether or not the Sox win it. Would anyone on this board not be calling for Giles/Dunn/etc. if the Sox had gone 70-92? I agree with you. Even if the Sox did not win it all, I would still be calling for all these moves. I do not care what the Sox did. I just want the Cubs to win the World Series.

    We'll just end up with Alex Gonzalez (Marlins) and Jacque Jones for the combined price of Giles, instead. :-& I really hope youre wrong.

I just noticed posts to the effect of "His agent is crazy if he thinks hes getting that kind of money". I don't think he's crazy at all. One other thought - ER was a better free agent then Furcal. Even though the Cubs don't have anyone playing shortstop/ leading off? What would your solution be if you were Jim Hendry?

    I agree with you. If we don't sign Furcal, in my opinion, I'm not going to have anything to root for this year.

    Exactly. By then Cedeno would have been ready, IMO. Or, if not, then I'm sure the SS crop next year would be better. There is NO NEED to throw a buttload of money at Furcal when we have at least 2 other options. Who exactly is in the free agent market next year for shortstops?

    I'm sorry, but Furcal is an idiot if he thinks he's going to get 50 million over 5 years. It's all a ploy by his agent. I agree with whoever said its the same thing as Beltran wanting 10 years. It's all a ploy by his agent. I still think we get Furcal, mostly because Hendry has his mind set on him. Go Tigers! Beat Baylor!
