The Cubs are still on my TV, more than 150 times a year because I HAVE DIRECTV i honestly don't understand why anyone who can get it doesn't. I don't know about you but I didn't control the TV provider decisions in my house as a kid.

If you hear that Rose anecdote in a vacuum, then yeah, it might sound dumb that he didn't kiss Lebron's ass. But the thrust of that article was that the Heat thing was in the bag once Riley cleared enough cap space. So who cares at this point?

This is great stuff. I kinda wish they did leave Lebron off the Redeem Team now. I guess this also confirms that Rose didn't kiss Lebron's ass enough for his liking. I'm nonplussed by that at this point.

All things considered, the whiffing on Morrow is looking like the misfire of the offseason. Warriors didn't even match a 4/19 offer sheet from the Nets for him and he would've filled a big need. I'm not in love with Brewer in the starting lineup even if its in name only between him and Korver.

Rory McIlroy has the best looking golf swing I've ever seen. The previous best swing was Adam Scott who's now a bum. Hopefully McIlroy steps up.

People complain about those overtime systems too (or did until they were tweaked). I'm open to fixing them. One of my biggest complaints about college OT (which I prefer to the NFL) is that spotting the ball on the 25 yard line is not very representative of football. You're already in FG range, you're closing out sections of the playbook, it leads to gimmicky stats, etc.

You have to consider the possibility that something is so dumb that even a superficial observer can see it for what it is. And let's not pretend that the PK = good is some monolithic opinion held by all soccer afficianados. Even an ignorant moron like myself knows that's not true.

Who is going to provide these resources to build a new stadium? The Cubs, the city, or a combination of the two. Just like every other franchise that builds a new stadium and the Cubs have more cash than most. I know Illinois is broke as a joke but new stuff is going up all the time isn't it? The new wing of the Art Institute was designed by arguably the world's most famous living architect. I'm sure it can be done. The new stadium era ended when the real estate bubble popped. It is going to take a long time before that sort of funding becomes available again. Also, the type of architect that works on museums isn't building cash machines, which is all a baseball stadium is. Have you seen the new addition to the Guggenheim? -

The people who don't like college sports cite that they want to watch the best of the best above all other reasons. I can't argue with that reasoning.

I think your premise is way off, unless you're talking about sports that people don't follow at all rather than sports they only follow superficially. Just look at how much complaining there is about the BCS and tell me that hypercritical eye is reserved for soccer. You really don't see people tying their frustration with the BCS as some sort of inherent flaw in football that implies it's less worthy of your time and fandom. Same with inconsistencies/frustrations in other sports like balks/leaning into pitches/instant replay in baseball, late game fouls in basketball, holding/pass interference(takedowns) in football, etc. It's entirely possible that the PK system is actually stupid though. I'm not going to make that call but isn't it possible that any sport could have a rule that is just dumb? Once upon a time the forward pass was considered unsportsmanlike in football. NBA Finals games used to be decided in overtime when one team would hold the ball for the entire period because there was no shot clock. Those are objectively dumb things that needed to be changed. In any case, I don't even follow hockey that much, but I know the rule changes made a few years ago were designed ot make the game more fan friendly and up tempo. It isn't a vendetta against soccer.

Thank you. You've shattered me of my delusion that my innocuous complaints about the PK system will generate change at the highest levels of international football. I'll now return to more fruitful efforts aimed at producing a college football playoff system by being really whiny on an internet message board.
