  1. The key for the Bucks will be for Jennings not to have a multi-month shooting slump or for Salmons to play like he did for the Bulls last year. He's great right after he's traded. Getting Bogut back will help. And of course if Skiles can keep up his excellent coaching without starting to grate on his players.
  2. Where do you have the Celtics? 4th if they bring everyone back. What's the timetable on Perkins? Besides, if the Celtics think they have one more run in them they won't kill themselves to do that great in the regular season. Edit: Bloops, realized I forgot Miami/Chicago. I guess I'd put the Celtics in that group battling out for 3-5 seeds. Atlanta and Milwaukee behind them with Orlando and Cleveland up top. Edit 2: I could definitely see a scenario where the top 6 or so teams in the East end up with 50+ wins.
  3. But what do you do long-term to win a championship? Hope you can get Melo next year? Or do you think Rose/SG/Deng/Boozer/Noah is good enough? Hope Rose turns into a superstar, get lucky (I would call getting Melo lucky), or being able to pawn off Deng's deal for something good when the time comes. With Rose and Noah's extensions coming up and the new CBA this is kind of a use it or lose it situation.
  4. That wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. We'd still have money to get a shooter and there won't be any new powerhouses being formed in the East. Cleveland will be about the same and Miami will be better--not overwhelming--but very thin. New York won't be good. I think the Bulls would battle with the Heat for a 3 seed if that went down.
  5. If we're talking offseason pickups in general Jay Cutler is by far the biggest.
  6. Michael Lewis needs to write a book about this.
  7. Well whatever it is the Cavs don't have it.
  8. It might be true. Cleveland's roster is as good as it's going to get right now. Their cap situation is pretty grim over the next few years, so there's not much room for improvement. LeBron should know this, too. obviously there are no guarantees, but really, if he goes back to cleveland, winning won't be the primary reason, right? i mean, if he didnt have ties to cleveland, would they even be in the discussion anymore? that being said, i still think he resigns with the cavs. He's consistently won 60 games in Cleveland, which is in any given year good enough to contend for a championship. But no, the Bulls are the only path to the one true championship. I realize this is NSBB so these aren't actual humans we're watching but automatons that don't feel pressure or spurious notions of clutch but there is a difference between the regular season and the playoffs. They can't win the in the playoffs with those guys.
  9. Someone should do one of those office productivity studies like they reference every time March Madness comes around for the Cleveland, Chicago, New York, and Miami (if they cared) metropolitan areas over the last few days.
  10. Can you prove no one knows anything dex so I can stop sitting here like a [expletive] geek refreshing 9000 twitter accounts and RealGM and go out an enjoy a summer holiday weekend?
  11. Naw, there's been discussion about it. Mostly people wanting to know Goff's credentials. Now people are freaking out because Bucher says we may not get anyone at all. Maybe Wade's crazy ex-wife will net us Wade and Bosh!
  12. Yep, deals can be announced now but signings happen on July 8 at the earliest. AFAIK you can say you're signing somewhere and sign elsewhere after July 8 but I can't remember that happening.
  13. Was that ad campaign approved/directed by the Bulls? I'm guessing they were involved to a degree but aren't publicly attaching themselves to it. It's really cool though. Taking out an ad in the Akron newspaper is ice cold.
  14. Anyone think Wade and Bosh and whatever the f rest the Heat will have is enough to compete? I guess they'd have some money left over but if you fill it in with just role type players you can see why they would be intrigued about teaming up on the Bulls.
  15. Lebron counters with "I'm going to Chicago with Boozer/Lee/Amare and whatever Deng nets."
  16. Rose is the huge draw for free agents right now. No sign and trade deal is going to involve Rose. I suppose that's true. If you have to give up Rose then Lebron and Wade might as well hookup in Miami.
  17. If the Bulls want to unload enough cap space to get two maxes outright that would be one way of doing it.
  18. You know, if the Cavs ever agreed to S&T Lebron away a package centered around Derrick Rose would have to be one of those scenarios wouldn't it?
  19. Adande was on ESPN news making it seem like Wade and Bosh was the aim rather than Wade and James. That would suggest James has already made up his mind about going to NJ with another max or staying in Cleveland no?
  20. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5348670 Chad Ford's take.
  21. You know what, I would not turn down watching a Bulls team with Rose/Wade/James led Bulls team. I tell ya that. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wadelebronbulls072010 And now you have this ^^^ who believe the Bulls not only are pushing for a Wade/James partnership (now, I think both Wade and Bulls are using each other to get what each other wants: Wade-Bosh to Miami, and Bulls-James to Chicago) but apparently the Bulls have a deal in place that could send Deng out of Chicago for a "serviceable center." (< I'm thinking either Okur or Gortat) This crap has gotten real and hot in a NY minute. When i Heard "serviceable center" i got to thinking about guys who have similar contracts - what about Tyson Chandler? Is that a possibility? Shoulda looked it up before I posted. Chandler makes 12.7 this year and will then be FA. Deng makes 11.3 and has 4 years remaining. So..that's probably not it. If we're getting a C back for Deng, would it be logical to assume that Noah would be on his way out too? I hope not, but I'd still do it... No I don't think so. Noah is exactly what you would want in a C on a team like that. Hustles his ass off, rebounds, defends, and you never have to run a play for him.
  22. One of the first things I thought when I read that article was that Derrick Rose immediately becomes the most attractive trade bait in a long, long time.
  23. The difference is, Chicago is a neutral team for both James and Wade. James didn't want to go to Miami to be the 2nd fiddle on WADE'S TEAM". In Chicag they would be in share partnership, a 2010 version of Jordan/Pippen. That's a small difference but maybe meaningful. And no one was ever confused about who the top dog was between MJ and Pip.
  24. They did fine on the dream team. That's 2 weeks not 5 years. Even Jordan deferred to Barkley on the original dream team but I don't think anyone would've expected that to last if they were on the same team. I've gotta at least be consistent with my reasoning. If James won't go to Miami to not be a clear #1 over Wade he won't do it in Chicago. And if this is Wade just angling and getting information well then [expletive] him. Pretty slick though.
  25. I'm just going to assume this Wade/James thing is the flavor of the day rumor just like the Stephen A. Smith was.
