    Collins won't look as bad against a crappier team and a full week of practice. I expect occasionally effective mediocrity out of him which may be enough t o win.

    I'll just add that most of the material in the first book was abstracted from papers that passed peer review at the Journal of Political Economy, American Economic Review, and the Quarterly Journal of Economics. But mojo says the material can't pass muster and isn't worthy of inclusion next to Glenn Beck's new book in the current events section at Barnes and Noble.

    You say that because you have nothing of substance to say and you're reflexively negative about absolutely everything. I'm not saying all the assertions made in the pages of Freakonomics or its sequel are correct (to the extent that there are flat out assertions instead of hypotheses), but you would be very hard pressed to find any serious research flaws that have been leveled against Levitt's work as an academic economist that weren't about the abortion paper. I mean you've already gone from calling it an abomination to entertaining but flawed in a matter of a couple posts...so I'm sure you just overcooked your initial statement as always.

    So the problems with the book Freakonomics can be attributed to the problems of its sequel? You realize Klein is talking about Super Freakonomics right? That came out just last year. 95% of the flak given to Levitt (who is the economist of the duo, the other author is just a journalist) is the position they took on geoengineering in Super Freakonomics and the assertion in Freakonomics that abortion reduced the crime rate in the US. Aside from those two positions (the geoengineering thing has almost nothing to do with economics, really) he's held in pretty high regard. The rogue economist label is nothing more than marketing and an acknowledgement that he doesn't work on macroeconomic issues which is the vast majority of what you hear in the media. It'd be impossible for a UChicago economist, the mothership of all academic economic thinking pretty much, to be "rogue."

    Saying running games isn't important is wrong for the most part. The myth is that you need to run to set up the pass, not that you don't need to be able to run well at all. Good offenses pass to set up the run, which the Bears tried to do at times, they just can't. Orton had one of the best running attacks in football last year. So did the Saints, Packers, Vikings, Cowboys and a bunch of other good offenses. Only Peyton has shown he can guide an elite offense without the aid of a solid rushing attack year after year.

    Oh I don't mind either way as long as he wasn't punching women, a cab driver, or someone in the organization (unless Pargo is still on the roster somehow). BTW, James Johnson is the new training camp fluff story of the week and he'll get some run with Booz being out.

    You're probably right. I just don't want to entertain the thought that Cutler had a bad concussion and we're looking at multiple Collins/Hanie starts.

    A QB going rogue on the play calling isn't unheard of. I don't think he was TRYING to play poorly...but you don't think there was something flat out weird about some of those strips after he'd been hammered the entire first half?

    Well I agree with all of that. But when you run a quick slant on a 3 step drop...and you don't throw it. I just don't know what's going on there. That's a 1 read play.
