  1. Hell, maybe I'm crazy, but I have been very pleased with Szczur's progress this year. Last season he had 26 walks in 480 plate appearances. This year he has 18 in 162. So they obviously have him working on that. True, he hit 10 homers last year and none so far this season, but he had 35 extra base hits in his 480 PA last season, with 12 in his 162 so far for this one. Basically the same percentage. Then you see he had 24 steals in 109 games versus 17 in 36 so far now. Basically, I see lots of progress with a very probable callup to Tennessee around midseason.
  2. Apparently all they're interested in is warm bodies. Which is good. Don't bother bringing the kids up til they appear ready. Let Wells be the sacrificial lamb.
  3. I would think Scott goes to Boise. Which is likely going to be the "must see" boxscore for us.
  4. I've kind of had it in my mind that he's going to be a super utility type guy. Fills in hopefully at SS, 3B, 2B, LF, and RF, getting 100+ starts over the course of the season.
  5. Brenly maybe? Lalli has already been called up, plus Brenly has stunk in AA.
  6. Blake Lalli called up. Happy for him, but I doubt we thought he'd ever occupy a 40 man spot.
  7. Soto probably just became a salary dump at best.
  8. Yeah, evidently Sarah tweeting may have accelerated this process.
  9. Well, I don't think we should be surprised obviously. I hope he sticks around in some capacity. I think I'm happy about this honestly, because if he struggled this badly all year, I know I would have hated it.
  10. My other possibility is a Garza extension.
  11. My guess is Rizzo. Soler can't sign with anyone yet.
  12. I'll be stunned if Wood isn't brought up and put in the rotation for the next turn. Volstad can go to the pen and we can send down Parker, Coleman, or whoever.
  13. Awesome. I always liked Len, but Bob has really grown on me.
  14. For the hell of it, Votto's career minor league numbers are 3016 PA, 97 homers, 404 walks, 665 K's, with a line of. 289/.386/.477. Rizzo's minor league line is 1786 PA, 77 homers, 171 walks, 367 K's, with a line of. 302/.371/.531. Yeah, he's had the PCL and Votto did not, but he's also been younger than Votto was at each level. So yeah, now I'm going to be irrationally thinking Rizzo is the next Votto. Not really, but his numbers stack up very well at least.
  15. The walk rate doesn't bother me at all, because he's obviously seeing it well right now. Hopefully, he's another guy that's going to be able to sustain a high babip.
  16. For some reason, most analysts see Rizzo hitting. 260-.270ish in the majors. May have thought Votto would do the same, for all I know. It's got to be getting tough for them to keep him down at this point. His bat could conceivably help us out this season even. Legit, could be like trading for a big bat.
  17. Buxton's birthday is 12-18-93. I know that's not what you're getting at Tim, but there is 9 months difference between him and Correa. That's pretty sizable. Don't get me wrong, Buxton would be my choice of the 3, but it ain't happening. And it's certainly plausible that either Correa or Almora wind up being better longterm.
  18. One thing to remember about Correa, is he doesn't turn 18 until September 22. He's close to a year younger than quite a few of his high school draft class, making the projection factor that much larger.
  19. It didn't hit me til the end of the damn chat to ask about Selman and they didn't get to it, by the way. They'll have another chat next week though. Odd implications on Dylan Baker, by the way, or at least that's how I took it. I asked if he's one of the highest upside guys around for the comp round and the response was scouts aren't sure why or how he's gotten better, only that he has and has taken an odd road to get where he's at basically and scouts don't like things that aren't neatly wrapped. But yes, he's certainly got upside was the gist of the response. So now, I'm definitely intrigued about him, to see what ANY of that actually means.
  20. Garrioch did a great job with that. PG has been having a chat for 2 hours at this point on the draft, TONS of excellent stuff in there obviously. Giolito's dad stopped in and said Lucas will be throwing for teams very soon.
  21. He would come at the expense of Cardenas. I'd much rather see what he's got, because he may have an actual future with the team. Instead of hoping Hudson has a hot streak that potentially could net us a player about half as good as Cardenas anyway.
  22. The PerfectGame consensus, by the way, is that Correa is the top prospect in this draft.
  23. David Rawnsley of PG, just made a great argument as to why a team should take Almora: Low risk, high upside. Perfect for a team needing to rebuild without a large base already around.
