  1. It was Jose Serra, along with Fleita and McLeod, wasn't it? Maybe Theo and Jed too? I'm not skeptical of our top guys at all. Fleita's the only one I mentioned I don't particularly trust. Hopefully he'll get it going soon and it's an adjustment or nervousness deal and not bad decision making on our part.
  2. Everyone here is willing to give him time. But it's certainly OK to question what's going on with him too. The only "glowing" reports I've heard on Concepcion have come from us or his agent. No one else. I do trust our guys' scouting eyes, so I do think they saw SOMETHING here. But, if reports are true him and Soler are buddies, then I could see us overpaying somewhat, to get him in the fold early and maybe help out with Soler as well.
  3. I'vr always had it in the back of my mind, that we signed Balaguert, Martinez, and Concepcion to put us at the top of Soler's list.
  4. Good lord, I hate to say it, but I kind of hope Concepcion is injured, because to say he's sucked is probably about as nicely as we can put it.
  5. Baez not in Peoria's lineup. Balaguert is, Marco at SS. No clue if Baez move has been made official or if Marco may be at risk.
  6. I think I would have went with Almora at 6. Unless Giolito would sign for around slot. At 43, I really like Alex Wood too, but I still would have found it hard not to take Weickel. At 56, I think I'd have taken Mooneyham. At 67, Mathieson a very good pick. At 101, I like Wisdom, but I'd take Selman at that spot. Mine would be Almora, Weickel, Mooneyham, Mathieson, and Selman.
  7. They did a community draft on minorleagueball today for the 1st 3 rounds. The guy picking for the Cubs took Fried at 6. Passed on Almora, Zimmer, and Giolito. At 43, took Alex Wood. A few guys going behind that pick included Weickel, Barrett Barnes, Naquin, and Nick Travieso. At 56, it was Peter O'Brien to the Cubs. A few guys picked afterwards were Carson Kelly, Agosta, Nick Williams, Mitch Nay, and Kyle Twomey. At 67, he took Wyatt Mathieson, with a few guys still out there being. Brian Johnson, Light, Ramsey, Mooneyham, Rio Ruiz, Underwood, and Kline. In the 3rd, at 101, Cubs took Patrick Wisdom. Some guys available were Rodgers, Farmer, Cody Poteet, Selman, Diekroger, and Young.
  8. Baez to Peoria, per Phil Rogers(weird guy to break it). Makes debut this weekend.
  9. Giolito's price tag comes in to play possibly. If the 5 mill rumor is true, is he worth it? Not a monetary question either. Is he worth us having to underslot about 1.4 mill off the rest of our picks for? I want him as much as anyone here, but we're not in a position to have to take lesser guys with both supplemental picks and possibly another top 5 rounder as well. I'd much rather take anyone else out of the big 3 college pitchers, Zunino, Fried, or the 3 HS hitters and have the money for other guys as well. I guess it's possible we could take Giolito, hope he signs, but if not, we get the 7th pick next year in a stronger draft class. But with as bad as our season has gone and with Theo saying how much we're focusing on the draft, I think it'd really leave a sour taste in most fans mouths.
  10. We'll either go high risk at 6 or maybe with both supp picks. If we go high risk at 6, I would expect safer supp picks to even things out a bit.
  11. Baez' account isn't real technically. Rock made it for him and posted a few times. To my knowledge, Baez doesn't even know he has a Twitter.
  12. I just want LaHair to get back on track and for Castro to hit. If these 2 things happen. Maholm pitches well and someone other than Dolis blows it, I'm fine with things
  13. I want Dempster traded, assuming he'll allow it. Because he's pitching so well, he's going to get a contract much larger than what we'll be comfortable with giving him. And as much as he loves being here, I think it'd be tough to turn down.
  14. With our group that's picking, I'll be OK with any of Appel, Gausman, Zimmer, Zunino, Buxton, Correa, Almora, Giolito, or Fried. Hell, I'd probably make myself happy with Stroman, Wacha, or Schaffer, although I don't see it happening. I guess that I'm saying I trust our guys judgment basically. I don't see some off the wall type at least.
  15. No, and most things can be attributed to Ricketts. He's cutting payroll! He's letting the Dodgers be the mid-tier but big market team to make the rise to the top (with Ned Colletti)! He's the reason I've watched three seasons of three different shows this week. That's got to total 24 hours, easy. You do realize that Ricketts offered Epstein a virtually open checkbook and he was the one to chose this direction, right? And complete autonomy, so don't blame anyone but the boy genius. Well obviously, because if that young whippersnapper had went out and signed Pujols or Fielder, we'd be undefeated right now!
  16. I like Dunstom and Rock. They seem to have personality and it feels like they're having fun. Sappelt is the same.
  17. The earlier signing date is not something we've talked about much. It'll be really interesting to see how players are handled. My guess is pitchers are really babied, tightfully so, but position players step right in immediately. Some may get in close to half a season or so, if they sign early, so that'll be fun.
  18. My guess is our top 6 goes Giolito, Gausman, Correa, Buxton, Appel, and Almora.
  19. I'm really starting to think Almora is a smokescreen and Giolito is our focus. But, we have to be extremely confident in his meds, because this pick is way too important to us to whiff on it.
  20. My guess is the window to ever trade Soto has closed. Maybe, he could put together a solid second half. If so, I guess it's possible to deal him in the offseason. But, in my mind, he's getting non tendered.
  21. My first thought was Rizzo. But if the date is June 23rd, to get the extra year of control, I can't see us bringing him up before then, now that it's close. As far as trades go, I see no way possible Marmol has regained value by then. Actually, unless we change our tune and decide to deal Garza, our only piece that's going to bring back a return worth talking about is Dempster. Even then, I want to see him dealt early, before guys like Hamels and Greinke possibly become available.
  22. I feel really, really bad for Demp. Hope like hell he gets traded. As well as he's pitching, he can really help a team. He's gotta be tired of this [expletive], at least. I can't imagine him vetoing a trade right about now.
  23. I honestly doubt there has been a single time in Hill's career that a manager made a pitching change with him up, that even bothered looking at his splits. It's Koyie Hill. He's not made an opposing manager think once about anything, other than maybe a "my Gawd, how in the hell is that [expletive] on a roster?"
  24. I'm worried about the Twins. They're for real.
  25. Hit a swinging bunt that was pretty much on the plate, Starlin didn't run and Kap freaks out. He thought it was foul but of course Kap has to overreact about everything. Thanks man. Might be time troll him on Twitter.
