  1. Maybe the dime a dozen guys, but Gonzalez, Teixeira and Cabrera are three guys who were traded at fairly young ages that brought a ton of interest on the market. It's not there's a dozen guys with a 900 OPS out there these days. Teams will still pay up for guys who actually produce a lot. Whether it's an established veteran or a hot young prospect on the verge a bit bat is a very valuable commodity. If you're elite, I can go with that. But I would do my best to fit them both in somehow.
  2. Rizzo is already a damn good defensive 1B. I kind of doubt Vogelbach is ever considered better than average and probably slightly below. Granted, it's not a defensive position of true importance, but for me, I'd rather have as good a guy as I can there. If Vogelbach was going to be much better than Rizzo with the bat, I would defer to him. But Rizzo's a hell of a lot closer to being an elite guy right now than Vogelbach is, so if we wind up with that sort of " great problem", I'd try Vogelbach in LF. Athletically, he's obviously better than what it looks like he should be. If his bat is this good, I'm sure we'd be fine with an Adam Dunn type disaster in LF, but I'm not even sure he'd be that bad. To me, that's a better solution than trading him. It seems like 1B have as low of a trade value as any position, so it's probably beneficial to keep him, if at all possible.
  3. Didn't see it mentioned, but Pierce Johnson got moved to Boise.
  4. His last start, against the Dodgers was easily his best outing.
  5. If I'm guessing yardage totals, I'd say Marshall 1200, Bennett 700, Jeffery 600, Hester 600, Forte 300, and everyone else combines for 800ish.
  6. Evidently it's 50-50 this one gets played.
  7. Good points. Especially on Forte's receiving yards. That said, do you see Jeffery 4th in catches? If so, behind Marshall and who else? Bennett and Hester?
  8. ? Speed and fielding, I believe.
  9. Over/umders: Cutler 4000 yards passing? Marshall 100 catches? Forte 1500 rushing/receiving yards? Jeffery 60 catches? Nears offense top 10 in NFL? Personally, I answer over to all, other than Jeffery, who I think will be extremely close to that number.....
  10. Machado's going to play 3B from the looks of things.
  11. Bundy to AA and Machado to the bigs. Too early for him. Gotta wonder if they're still in it in a couple of weeks, if Bundy doesn't join him.
  12. I hope he's not a stopgap. I'm not sure he's anything ridiculously special as a manager, but I'm not sure anyone is. He's done well enough so far, with what he's had, to where I hope he gets to stick when we're good again.
  13. Damn, we had the same 18 at the top and 28 of 30 altogether. And there's probably another 20 guys I considered for my last 5. Raison, Toonster, am I right about Batista? He can get up to 95 or so, right? Not sit there, but he sits 91-93, or am I mistaken?
  14. My legit personal top 30, without Brett and Vitters. I have a habit of letting BA influence my rankings, but not this one, quite a bit different. Flame away. 1 Javy Baez 2 Soler 3 Almora 4 Vizcaino 5 Vogelbach 6 Torreyes 7 Candelario 8 Villanueva 9 Amaya 10 P Johnson 11 Szczur 12 Blackburn 13 Alcantara 14 Lake 15 Wells 16 Hernandez 17 Maples 18 Underwood 19 Rosario 20 Peralta 21 Watkins 22 Scott 23 Whitenack 24 Zych 25 McNutt 26 Ha 27 Batista 28 Trey Martin 29 Bruno 30 DeVoss Yes, fully aware I'm higher on Torreyes than most, but I honestly think he's our longterm answer at 2B. Really hard to rank the TJS guys, or even if they're just injured(hopefully Rosario). If Wells was healthy, he'd be in the back of my top 10. I'm not a huge Whitenack fan, so I doubt I'd have him much higher. Rosario could have slid up 5 spots or so. Batista never gets any play on here at all(Toonster mentions him on occasion) but he throws mid 90's, doesn't he? His control looks to be decent and the results have been excellent obviously. Why can't he be a legit set up guy longterm? Wanted to put Paniagua in there, but since theres little info on him, I held off and I stayed away from DSL guys, due to length away and my penchant to taking higher upside guys at lower levels already. To me, the big dropoff occurs after 18 on my list. And I'm giving Underwood the big upside plus or else it'd occur after 15 for me. But I see 16-18 as having real upside, while 19 and down have more issues(mostly because they're known already)
  15. I don't think that's a thing, Sveum has/had very little to do with Rizzo performing so well so far Sveum was who got Rizzo to shorten his swing.
  16. CF DEJESUS 2B BARNEY 1B RIZZO LF SORIANO SS CASTRO C CASTILLO 3B VITTERS RF MATHER P SHARK
  17. And KG proves me somewhat wrong......I wonder in what order Peralta, Rosario, and Arias are thought of, inside scouting circles? My guess is Arias is last, but it's probably mixed on the other two.
  18. And therein lies the problem with Twitter KG: He answered THAT, instead of actually giving an opinion on Peralta.
  19. I'm now even getting sniped on Peralta. If I went and looked up whatever Kevin Encarnacion had done today, WSR would surely beat me to it.
  20. Goldstein speculated they want to see him have early success. I kind of agree, thinking they're protecting him and hoping he's possibly more tradable with a relatively decent looking line.
  21. My prediction is still alive, although WSR or BacktoBanks hasn't posted that Vitters/Price swap yet. Yeah, you're hanging by a thread. WSR's probably out though, now that Reed can't be the throw in.
  22. I'm perfectly fine with a deal like that too. Didn't see that for some reason. That said, I honestly can't see Garza taking something like that either. If he's pitching decently and we do NOT get something offered that beats the comp pick, I'd qualify him too. Having him on another 1 year deal isn't a bad thing obviously. And I could see that happening, because I'm not sure a team punts a draft for him, this soon after this development.
  23. Soriano just got scratched. Spiked last night and has swollen hand.
  24. Miami got Turner out of Sanchez basically, I don't think that's all that bad, just a lot less than what we would have gotten for him otherwise.
  25. SSR and IMB are the winners here.
