  1. Sniped. But he got a new deal and will be doing some of everything at this point.
  2. New report now says they were Chad's condoms, not his wife's.
  3. Nah, we just wanted to get Castillo some time and needed Soto gone, in my opinion, and there wasn't a market for him. Evidently the Dempster thing came together during the last 30 minutes before the deadline. It MAY have helped a tad in getting him to accept a deal there, but I think he wanted out of Chicago, after all that went down and would have went to a few places once he found out the Dodgers were out for sure.
  4. Bushwhacker Chad.
  5. The idea though, is in doing it, you're going to be getting multiple 1st round talents out of the one draft. And at least part of your penalty would basically be money you would have spent on your 1st rounder over the next 2 years. The key would be picking out a draft with good enough talent to make it worth it.
  6. Looks like Chad Johnson got arrested, after a domestic dispute started by him finding condoms that evidently weren't his. So Hard Knocks has a story now anyway.
  7. Awesome. Both on Soler obviously, but also Vogelbach's comments.
  8. Yeah, I'm not concerned about Hosmer's season either.
  9. Just 2 and 1/2 out of 2nd now.
  10. It's not outrageous, but I don't see it happening.
  11. I have a feeling(and as much as I have been all for trading Garza, I'd hate the idea on Starlin) that we'll see plenty of Starlin rumors over the offseason. Probably media(Kaplan leading the way) bringing up tons of offers and [expletive].
  12. He must have topped it. Just a single that go round.
  13. Big man hungry. Feasting. HR Vogelbach.
  14. I can't post it from my cell, but there's a great interview on Scout with Madison. Cubsden posted it a little while ago. He's definitely in line, thought-wise with McLeod. It's cool to be gathering so many of these guys. I guess majority rules when they're talking over potential picks? If so, the more great minds the better obviously.
  15. Maholm with a 3 hit shutout tonight. Good for him, good for the Braves. I find myself pulling for them, after the Dempster [expletive].
  16. I missed that one from him. Thank God.
  17. So, not only did the Pads end up getting any compensation for Hoyer and McLeod, we can still raid them for more? Kinda great, wonder if we've taken all we want or if they have more we want?
  18. Love expansion. Surprised Wilken is staying, but totally fine with it.
  19. Those guys know far more than I do about a guys stuff. I'm pretty sure he tops out around 92-93, not aware of a true plus pitch for him. Probably a middle reliever upside, being realistic, back end starter as a hope. Obviously, a very solid signing for the 26th round(225ish?,can't remember bonus). I've asked Callis, Badler, Law, KG, etc about him. Badler responded, but just said looked like a nice pick. Honestly, I expected him in Daytona by now, so that may be a sign he's not been super impressive anyway, by itself.
  20. Honestly, I think Wilken is a good counterview for our group. While I certainly figure he's gone, I actually hope we do we have an old school guy or two around.
  21. He's cheaper and at least slightly better than Koyie. Point noted though, it's like the Giant Douche/ Turd Sandwich debate.
  22. So your projection for his performance in his prime wouldn't be adversely impacted by his season this year? If I'm working for Fangraphs, then sure. If I follow one specific team very closely and realize how much he's gone through in the last year? Nope, not at all. My guess is he finishes this year in the mid-.280's, .750ish OPS and over 15 homers. Next year, I'll expect a solid jump too. He's the most important player in our organization, has tons of talent, and the FO understands this. He'll be better FOR going through this.
  23. Here's the thing, Tim: He's super talented. He's also got as good of a support group around him as he could possibly have. He's 22, certainly had a rough offseason, to say the least, and the constant losing has probably taken some out of him as well. Couple that with trying to make him a bit more selective and voila.....A struggling season in some aspects ensues. His upside hasn't changed, he's 22 and has had a TON thrown at him this year. He'll be fine, better than fine, and I honestly doubt you disagree with this.
  24. Matt Kemp put up a .249/.310/.450 season at 25 with 17 more K's than he ever had. He kind of bounced back.
  25. This guy is obviously @Kapman.
